Ha-ha! Robin, you're on to something there.

I see it more as a conspiracy among people in the fitness industry. The higher the numbers on the scale go, the more people are inclined to join gyms, buy weight loss pills, stock up on processed and pre-packaged low-fat food, etc. This is why I hardly ever step on a scale. Only during leaning out season, and only every 2-3 weeks until I get to the numbers I want on my tape measure and caliper, not the scale.
