stupid question...

I posted earlier questioning whether I was getting enough intensity from my workout because I wasnt sweating as much as I do when I am on the elliptical. I am also doing the Fit TV version of many of the workouts, but for a beginner to Cathe, that should still be enough to produce buckets of sweat I would think. If my heart rate is too high, would that also cause reduced sweating? I kinda like to be nice and drenched after a workout to make it feel like I did something good...

Second question - along the same line...someone posted to me earlier that maybe a HR monitor would help determine the correct intensity for me. Does anyone have suggestions on a model that does allow you to enter your weight, fitness level, etc so that it is more accurate? I've heard a lot about the Polar models, but there are so many different ones...

Thank you so much for your help! This board has given me so much inspiration. My husband swears I am a Cathe forum junkie...but reading it gives me the motivation to get my butt downstairs to workout on days when I otherwise feel like skipping my wrkout. I notice that the days I don't work out are also the days that I don't come to the forums. You ladies are truely amazing and an inpiration to me! I hope that someday I look and feel like some of you look and feel - and that I can make working out a daily thing...just like brushing my teeth!

i would say you aren't drinking enough water if you aren't sweating like normal. but, i'm no expert. i have a nautilis hr monitor that i bought st sears for about $80 and it does all of those things. hope this helps

For Cathe, P90X and the elliptical I have a Polar M51 (there is a newer model now). This one has all the functions you want.
Specifically for running I use the Polar625X (can also be used for cycling).
Check out the Polar website.

Thanks - I am going to check out ebay and see what I can get an HRM for. I think it would be helpful for determining intensity, and hopefully also to remind me of the calorie burn part of it too.
