STS Pyramid 10/10 *October Invite* (all welcome ;) )

Hey ladies! Today was Disc 6 (legs) for me ;), and yesterday was Disc 4 (chest/bi/shoulders). Yesterday's workout felt great! I was SO happy that I waited until I felt better, because I knocking down those pushups! ALL ON THE TOES BABY, NO PAUSING! Ummmm....yeah, ya'll gotta excuse me, cause I was ALL fired up about that, lol.

Brenda: Welcome back! I'm a bulky leg girl, too, so when I lift really heavy on legs, I like to also supplement a lighter leg day too, to even things out. So when I get to M3 legs, I'll be doing both SRL and Plyo (on different days, of course :p) And during M2 I'll probably try supplementing Turbo Barre here and there for a second leg day. I go pretty light in M1, so I'm not really doing that right now. That second leg day is typically in place of cardio for me, but if you love your cardio  , you may wanna find another method....

Regina: Hope you got that playlist all worked out ;). I saw an article in O2 this month about spinning (700 calories before breakfast or something like that) is that the one you're talking about? How many times has your hubby done STS?

Steph: Yes I have maxalt, but only one left . Trying to use it wisely, lol. You should join us over there on MFP, it's more than just logging your foods (it's actually about me spying on what you're eating :p...just kidding!) There was a thread around here somewhere, where everyone put how to find them over there. Or just add one of us, and you'll see the comments from everyone else, lol.

Natalie: Nice job on the upper body work & GSL (I LOVE that one!). Is it back to STS tomorrow? or Sat? Are you getting any of the new w/o's? Your schedule setup seems like you could work them in quite nicely. ;)

Hey Kiki!

Good work with the pushups!!! I love the enthusiasm!! ;) I am back to STS on Saturday - tomorrow is a HiiT day and yes I preordered the new series w/o the spin DVD. I am totally looking to work them into my rotation!!! I bang out STS Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Tuesday is my rest day. Wednesday is legs, Thursday is upper body and Friday is a HiiT. Sometimes I will throw a HiiT in on Tuesdays as well depending on how sore I am from STS. I am training for a stair climb race now too so I do 96 flights of stairs at the minimum on Sundays too. I have a desk job and I don't move much during the day so I don't feel like I am overtraining with that schedule. What about you? How are you planning to incorporate the new series? I need to go back and look at the breakdowns of the videos...I like the results I am seeing from my current schedule so I don't want to mess with it too much...Or during my rest week which will probably be right around the time we get the videos, (boy that worked out nicely ;)) I will just do one every day and get a feel for how I can work them in. Some rest week that will be! ;)

Later!

Natalie

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I wound up just doing a spin DVD. I was too lazy and too cheap to fool with buying all the songs I needed to make a playlist. Actually, the DVD worked out quite well. I always forget what a great workout I get from spinning. I also did some yoga. Today, I did 30/30 HiiT and walked on a 10% incline for 25 minutes to help stretch out my hamstrings for Saturday. I did the entire 30/30 right along with Cathe; I didn't have to stop....Yeah, I must be getting better . The weather for the half marathon on Saturday is supposed to be good, though they said the wind would be gusty - I hope that gusty is pushing me in the direction to make me go faster :D. I will probably take an entire rest day tomorrow. I am so itching to get back to STS, can't wait.

Kiki - Hubby just finished STS for the first time a couple of weeks ago. He is going to start another round next week. He doesn't do legs - bad knees or something like that. He's got very muscular legs anyway because he walks all day.

Natalie - Wow on the stair race. I would probably trip going up the steps. Good luck with your training. I know what you mean about having a desk job and sitting all day - I hate not being able to burn as many calories as I possibly can with just sitting.

Hope everyone has a productive weekend!

Regina

hey girls!
Yesterday i did atletica and slim in six abs..

today i have sts disc 27 on tap...previewed it and looks like fun! My absolute favorite thing to work is my shoulders...looking forward to this tonight after supper:D
Natalie: stair climbing:eek: your legs must really burn after that?

kiki: i pop my maxalt like candy when i am pmsing:eek: oh i sent a friend request to you on mfp...totally ripped kiki..you are totally ripped..

Regina: love your work out schedule..i had something similar during meso 1 and 2 (doing it 6x a week) but by the end of meso 2 i had dropped the hiits..walking was my cardio..not sure if i sam going to 6x it on the way down though..

bbl after my workout..

Haven't worked out yet...still letting the coffee do it's thing, lol. I'm so out of it today, but I'm supposed to be working out, and getting packed and ready to leave town by like noon, so I best get my bootay in gear  Today is supposed to be Disc 5, I think, lol. I did them outta order this week, so idk...

Steph: you are so silly, girl. Yea that's when I need the maxalt, too, but lately it seems like TTOM lasts forever, so I was all worried when I only had one left, that I kept "saving" it for the "big one" lol. I usually get little cluster headaches that eventually lead up to an all out blind in one eye, vomiting, migraine session ! That would be considered the big one , the little babies leading up to it shutter in comparison....I love working shoulders, too. Used to hate them, because I thought that working them gave me headaches, but I figured out I was just using incorrect form, and not stretching properly. But now I love it, because those shoulders make ALL the difference in how the arms look...I got your message on MFP, & added you as friend, but I don't see you in my friend list? Maybe you have to accept my request, too. Stop w/the compliments, girl...you're makin me blush  :p

Regina: I wish I spun (is that how you'd say that? lol :p ) It seems like such a fun and good burn. I thought about trying to learn it earlier in the year, so that I could try out for Cycle Max when I went to the RT  . But figured it was too much trouble for a slim hope of making it, lol...Yeah I didn't think my DH would do the leg w/o's on STS either, because he typically hates leg work (his legs bulk even more than mine do, and we're both shorties, so the whole thighs touching thing happens pretty quickly, and gets old quick). But he has been doing them, he just did them the same way I did w/o 1RMs, lighter weights (pretty much a cardio exercise.) He hasn't decided yet what he's gonna do for M3, but I imagine he'll do plyo...

Hi Girls,

Wanted to check in quickly and check in on you all. Sounds like y'all are doing great. I survived the plyo legs and it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Did shoulders, bi's and tri's this morning. I love this w/o. These are my fav muscles to work and being able to do them all together was perfect.

Hope you all have a good weekend. My boys have an EARLY morning swim meet tomorrow so I'm running to make some protein bars for them real quick before they get home from school....promised my little one he could help me so I hope my kitchen doesn't look like it exploded when we're done ;)

KiKi and Steph, what is maxalt? Do tell!

Tracy

Tracy..maxalt is most wonderful medecine invented for migrane head aches!
it is by prescription and pretty $$ in canada they are 6 pills for 110$ but i luckily have insurance which covers them to 80%...yeah for me...they seriously help...now i get on average 2-3 migranes a month but a couple of years ago i was having them 6-7 times a week:eek:
highly recommend;)

of to each supper!

Hi Girls,

Hope your weekend was good. Mine was pretty good other than the fact I didn't get any w/o's done :( I got up at 4:30 Sat. morn. for the boy's swim meet and stayed up watching football last night so I'm trying to recover from the exhaustion of yesterday. I just got my workout cards printed out for this week so I'll be ready to go in the morning!

Steph, thanks for enlightening me about the maxalt. I'm blessed I don't get migraine's...I've heard friends describe awful they are. I'm so glad there's a drug out there that's super effective for those of you who do suffer from them. But wow, they're expensive! I guess you get what you pay for though, right?

Be checking in w/ you all tomorrow after chest & back :)

Tracy

Happy Monday! :p

Did Chest, Shoulders and Bis on Saturday along with a 2.5 mile run and legs and about half of Intensity yesterday. No stair climbing. I just wasn't feeling it. Today is Back and Tris. Tomorrow is my bday so I am having a major cheat day!! :p I am thinking about getting up early and doing a HiiT just for a little damage control otherwise tomorrow is my rest day.

I hope everyone had a great weekend... Can I just say I hate being back in the dating world!! :( Stinks!! That is my complaint for today. Onward and upward!!

Have a great day!!

Natalie

Happy Birthday Natalie! Hope your day is full of fun & blessings :D

Chest & Back yesterday & cardio/abs/shoulders today :)

Tracy

hey girls...
today was plyo legs (2nd time this week..this time with lighter weights) and yesterday went to the gym to do chest and back...wanted to try and hit 98 like kiki:eek:...needless to say not happening...lol
managed to bench70 and row the same...not as much on the incline though..
bbl going for a power walk during my lunch break!

Hey girls! I haven't checked in, in like, forever . I was away at a conference all weekend, and then I was all crazy trying to get caught up on everything yesterday. I ate crap ALL weekend, and didn't work out one bit . Got back on track yesterday, and although I couldn't fit in my planned STS w/o, I decided I still needed to do something , so I did KCM- TLC Boxing it was a 30 minute w/o, but it got the job done. Got up today and finally knocked out Disc 7 (which was y'day's w/o) and added in the Extended Stretch for kicks ;). It felt great, although I can't wait for M2, so the pushup madness can come to an end  !

Steph: LOL. Girl, don't kid yourself, 70 is serious business! ;) WTG! I bench and row the same amt too, weird, huh? I guess that means that we're pretty balanced, right? And I'm always way off on those incline presses, it's just too intense of a position to bench that much. I'm only at about 75-80 on those in M3.

Tracy: What disc are you on now? Was your cardio/abs /shoulder workout an STS one or a "filler" for your in-between day? Either way, nice job. You'll be starting your way back down the pyramid soon

Natalie: Happy birthday! Don't eat anything that I wouldn't eat ;) (believe me that gives you quite the variety, :p lol!)

Hey girls!

Thanks for the birthday wishes! So far today: Very large cinnamon roll for breakfast, pizza for lunch, and flourless chocolate cake!!! Tonight is another eat out meal too with my parents and my daughter! I did the 30/30 HiiT this morning before work and I am so glad I did. Yesterday was Back and Tris. 8 strong pullups!! :D I am excited about finishing up Meso 1 this coming weekend...geez it has gone by so fast!! Then hopefully I will have the new series in my hands for my "rest" week.

Kiki - It's tough to stay on track with the food when away like that. I'm sure you'll make up for it in your workouts!! :) Don't you just love the extended stretch?? When I have extra time to just chill out after a workout I will do that...very refreshing!

Steph - Good job on your bench and row weight! That is awesome! :)

Tracy - Sounds like you are putting in some quality workouts! You go!!!

Ok well the eats will most definitely be back on track tomorrow!!

Have a great day!

Natalie

Hi Everyone,

The half marathon on Saturday went well. I was disappointed in my time but this was the first time I felt really good doing the entire race. There were no doubting voices in my head, I drank at every water stop, I had my "magic jelly beans" half way through, I felt strong the entire time, I passed people at the end and really kicked it in when I saw the finished line. So, I guess the lesson learned is that it is not always about your time, sometimes it is more important about how you feel.

Yesterday, I did M1D1 and ran 6 miles. Today I did M1D3, legs and will either run 4 miles or do a step DVD depending on what equipment DH will be using.

Natalie - Happy Birthday!! Hope you had a wonderful day. Awesome on the 8 chinups (so jealous :)).

Steph - Plyo 2 times in a week, very impressive.

Kiki - I hear you about the pushup madness. M1 is not my favorite - too many pushups and moves too fast for me.

Tracy - Hope you are having a good workout week.

Regina

good morning Girls...
Just popped in to say...i am have such nice doms in my back today from Mondays workout!!!!

yeah.....

Regina: I wish i had the drive to run period let alone a .5 marathon! Way to go!

As for the plyo legs..well i didn't use heavey db for the weight section... i did it more like a cardio-ish workout with #15s

steph

Happy Wednesday!

So I totally enjoyed every single calorie yesterday and am back on track today!! Did Lower Body Pyramid over my lunch hour"ish" today. Worked up a nice little sweat! :p

Regina - Nice work on the marathon! :D You should be very proud of yourself!! Feeling strong throughout the race had to be a great feeling. That is awesome!!

Steph - gotta love the DOMS!!

I hope everyone has a fantastic day!! It is way chilly here today...not sure I am ready for cold. In fact I am never ready for cold. Ugh!

Natalie

Hi Girls,

Suppose to do plyo legs today but had a Dr.'s appt so I've put it off till tomorrow. Hoping to find a little time tonight to do some cardio.

KiKi, I did some CTX cardio, abs and shoulders. Love that program for in-between STS days. Oh yes, I remember the push-up madness. I'll be there again before too long. I'm on D28, I think.

Natalie, glad your bday was good and you had some good munchies. Good for getting back to the w/o's full force. Oooooh, it got cold here too last night. We went from nearly 90 degrees on Monday to high 40's today. I'm def a warm weather girl so I'm not ready for the coldness :p

Regina, congrats on the half marathon girl! I wish I could run.

Steph, I'm jealous of the DOMS in your back. I don't ever get them there...back and shoulders, never any DOMS. A sign I need to lift heavier?

Tracy

Tracy...take the kiki challange...thats how i did it...i am super competetive (not meanie like..just even with myself) so when i heard how much kiki benches and rows...well..i went to the gym to see how much i could do without killing myself...voila...doms in the back! definately have to lift heavier...but i read somewhere it is a personal thing..that some people never get them:( I must have been going easy because its a a first for me as well in the back area..:D
bbl

oh just finished shoulders, bis and tris...mmmm looking forward to tomorrow;)

Good Morning! Yesterday was Kick Max for me, and today is STS day :D (Back/triceps). I can't believe I had insane bicep DOMS all day yesterday, that hardly ever happens, lol. Guess I got a little crazy on Chest/Bicep day . Yesterday was supposed to be back day, but I just couldn't do it w/the biceps not being fully rested, so hopefully today is better. There's still a slight twinge of DOMS but nothing like yesterday

Natalie: I'm lovin that you enjoyed all your bday eats, yet got right back on track the next day ;) How in the world did you do that workout over your lunch hour? Does your job have a gym in it? or is one close by? WTG squeezing it in though :)

Regina: Marathon madness!! You should be SO proud of yourself. ;) Will you still be running a lot combined w/STS? Or will you taper down a bit? I see you still logging the crazy mileage on MFP, so I take it you'll keep going :p. You're on Disc 3? did you start over, or are you doing the 6 month rotation where you repeat? Forgive me if you already told me, I get spacey sometimes....

Steph: The "kiki" challenge? You never cease to flatter :p WTG on upping your lifts (and gettin the DOMS to boot ;) ). Do you find that upping the weight allows you to appreciate the rests any more than before? or are you still tappin your foot (or hitting the fast forward button :p )? You're gonna feel crazy strong by the end of this meso!

Tracy: I love the CTX shoulders for a nice extra pump to the shoulders. Especially in the spring/summer when the arms are exposed, I throw in that one or the 4DS Shoulder section at least once/wk in addition to any regular workouts that already target them. Shoulders are a weak point on me, but they make all the difference in how the arm looks, so I like to give them extra emphasis when possible. That's why I really love the arm day in STS because it really hits all areas of the arms (including shoulders) quite nicely. ;)
