STS Plyo Legs - Cathe Newbie

Justinef

Cathlete
Hello from England!
I'm a new Cathe fan - just finishing 90 day XTrain, and need some advice on STS. I have loved XTrain so much that I've taken the plunge and decided to do the STS 6 month rotation. I'll be starting the 2nd week in July. During June, I plan to finish XTrain, and try a few other Cathe DVDs. Given I'm going to do STS with the squat rack, I wondered if trying out Plyo Legs before embarking on the main programme was a good idea. I'm eager to rip of the cellophane packaging and get going! Any advice - for or against? Also any advice on barbells and other equipment would be much appreciated. I know there's plenty of experience out there - the more you can advise me, the better :D
Thank you,
Justine

Hi Justine,

STS is a great program. I completed it first time about three months ago.

My advise is embark on it once you gained enough knowledge on weight training.Cathe has recommended to workout a one rep max for most of exercise. it's not compulsory but I highly recommend it. Before embarking on STS I was already logging the weight I was lifting for various weight program.

STS is mainly a weight lifting program but cardio is important and *need to be added*. I can not advise you on the rotation as it's entirely up to you depending on your fitness level.

Plyo STS is IMO a must have for those who want to lean out and strengthen legs. I love it. It is intense and some of the move are high impact. should you have knee issue, feel free to modify following cathe instruction. she always suggest modification. Should you be a super fit cathlete, feel free to add variation too:D:D:D

You can do STS Plyo as part of a rotation mixing it with other program including from other instructors. Feel free to browse on the forum for various rotation. I can actually recall doing LIS/STS plyo rotation and I absolutely felt in love with them:eek::eek::eek:

Cathe's website is full of info, i suggest you read it. There are also other valuable information on the net. Keep an eye on various discussions articles posted by other cathletes. Everyone is open to help! I include myself. Feel free to PM me should you wish to.

You are probably excited to rip that cellophane but make sure you are in shape to follow the program through with no disappointment. To be honest the first cycle endurance is really intense with lot of push up. IMO if you are ready you will truly enjoy it. I suggest you try STS total to have an idea of the concept behind STS. Before doing STS i did STS total and Gym style. Trust me ! they are also very challenging. if you are looking for constant challenge, you have found your instructor Cathe friedrich :D:D:D:D

oh squat rack lol...That is a very useful piece of equipment I am happy to own. I also have a vest and I wish I added them equipment years ago! Again make sure you are ready to take on the challenge. You know your body better than anyone else.

Barbells add it! I am a barbell lover. I suggest you get it from www.gorillasport.co.uk. Ideally cast iron. I recently added, just for STS a ez curl barbell. Avoid vinyl as they are too bulky:D:D:D
You will need a barbell pad, weighted gloves (you can get them from Amazon.co.uk), Weighted vest from amazon.

Hope i have answered all your question.

Well I assumed you are from England uk. if you are not please correct me and disregard info above on where to get equipment from.

Wish you the very best;)

Thanks nckfitheart - great info. I'll try STS Total Body first, good idea. Also, I like the sound of the LIS/Plyo rotation - even if I only do a couple of weeks of it.
I think I'll get a weighted vest - my shoulders ache if I go heavy enough for my legs. What weight vest did you get?
The gorilla sports site looks good, I'd only looked at amazon and argos (surprisingly good!) given I'm based in Lincolnshire, most of my shopping has to be done on line
Thanks very much - I'm sure I'll need to pick your brains again,
Justine
