STS NEWS YEARS CHALLENGERS...WEEK OF MAY 29TH!

tralaiven

Cathlete
HI all,... I didn't see a new thread started so I did!!!

Today I started STS meso 2 with disk 13...it was a good pump...not so much a good workout like meso 1 chest, back and triceps though, but I loved it.

DH and I also walked for about 90 minutes for our regular Monday walk...since it is his day off.

Janell: welcome again and hope to see you here soon.

Kikster: saw your post on last weeks thread...hope you are having a great time... woohoo for your awesome bod ....good work!!!:) I am glad your DH is enjoying the fruits of your labor.

ricklyk1: how did you like legs? I see they moved legs to the middle, which I like.. I am glad I checked though...because I was going to do legs tomorrow, thinking I wouldn't get any leg work until friday...that would have been unfortunate!!

Happy memorial day... I am off to my son's future in-laws for a get together!!
blessings :D

Heeeey Ladies! I'm baaaaack! :D

Had a fantabulous weekend of food, drink, gambling, dancing, shopping and just general fun! I did NOT work out sat or sun but I DID w/o today after I got home. I didn't think I would have the energy but I had some so I went for it. ;) I did Imax Extreme and it was great! Just what the doctor ordered to drop-kick me back into reality!:p Now I get to go food shopping so that I know that I'm REALLY back home again!

I'll come back later or tmrw and catch up on personals and such but for now I really should move my tushy!

Hope everyone is enjoying thier holiday weekend!:)

Hi girlies! What a weekend! I've just got to tell you about it. Let's start at the beginning.

Friday: My DH and I went to the Melting Pot for our anniversary dinner. For those who don't know, the Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant. We got the "Big Night Out" which is a 4 course dinner - cheese fondue, salad, meat fondue and chocolate fondue. Wow, the food was amazing. I ate sooo much - to the point that I literally made myself sick. Great food, not so great ending. I think I learned my lesson.

Saturday: Normal day for the most part. That evening, my DH's family came over to celebrate my DH's birthday (which is actually tomorrow - 5/31). Well, DH's mom didn't bring any of the food DH requested AND she didn't bake his birthday cake. So basically his dinner was a bust and I felt so awful for him. He's so good natured he really didn't care but I got upset because his special meal was not so special. I even ran out and got him ice cream (his favorite dessert) just so he had something he really liked.

Sunday: At 8:45 am, 30 seconds into my workout, we got a telephone call that DH's dad had been in a car accident (it wasn't his fault) about an hour and a half away. Luckily, thanks to DH's dad's smart driving abilities he turned a potentially fatal wreck into a not so bad wreck. He was very shook up and had lots of cuts from the glass but overall he was okay. We spent most of the day at the hospital, taking pictures of the completely wrecked truck, etc. Needless to say I didn't get a w/o in yesterday. We spent the evening at my parent's house. My DH, sister, dad and nephew played softball (just messing around), so even though I didn't get a formal w/o in yesterday at least I moved a bit.

Today: To make up for DH's crappy birthday dinner on Saturday, I made him a special dinner tonight: maple syrup pork chops with cinnamon apples, sweet potatos and fresh corn on the cob. I also made him a frozen turtle ice cream thing for dessert. I tried to make it healthier - not heavy cream, light ice cream, light cool whip, etc. Not sure how i'm going to get the candles into a frozen dessert, but i'll figure it out. :)

I did get in a killer workout today. Disc 14 + STS abs (medicine ball) + Kick Max punching drills. I wanted to do the cardio challenge too but my legs were literally shaking from Disc 14. I'm going to be soooo sore tomorrow. YAY!!! I used the heaviest weights YET today (thanks in part to Kiki's earlier post) and i'm very proud of myself.

My check in is to say that I did get in a w/o today. I did GS Back, Shoulders & bi. Once I got dressed, out and about visiting some family, I just had to come back and report to my girls. Ladies, I've received SO many compliments on my weight loss/ body composition changes that I had to let my STS peeps know, KEEP AT IT. Go hard, the results are more than worth it! And to top it all off, my DH just keeps just looking over @ me with *that* look  , lol, and sayin "your hard work is REALLY paying off ;) " :p

Kiki: Pretty woman, walking down the street, pretty woman, the kind I like to meet :p YAY on all the fantastic compliments. You've worked so hard and you deserve all the praise little lady!! :) Your success is very inspiring. I saw your post before today's w/o and it pushed me to work just a little bit harder. The compliments and yummy DH's looks are the best!! ;) Enjoy the rest your vacation!!!

Tracy: Great job with Disc 13. I've still got DOMS in my shoulders and chest from it (I did the w/o on Saturday). Disc 14 was AMAZING. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the triset formula. Afterwards I had to adjust every exercise in the w/o manager because I was able to really up my weights. My legs were shaking at the end but I felt so good. I hope you like it as much as I did! :) Awwww, I love the idea of a fun walk with the DH. :p I'm such a dork I know! I hope you have a great time at tonight's get-together.

Wendy: Welcome back!!!!! I'm very glad to hear you had such a great weekend. It sounds like you had so much fun. Great job sneaking in that workout. That one sounds like a toughie.

Sorry for the long post. Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day ladies!!

ricklyk1: my arms were shhhhakkking today when I did disk 13. I don't think they have ever shaken that much I can feel the muscles I worked even now, so I think I am going to be very sore tamale!

wow...what a work out today disk 14 PLUS abs PLUS punching drills...??? whoa

sorry about DH's disappointment. you are good for trying to make it up to him.
glad FIL is ok from car wreck.

Wendy: sounds like you had a great time. It's always nice to get away isn't it?

Happy Tuesday! This morning I did Cardio Fusion. Fun fun! I had to cut it short by about 5 minutes short but I still worked up a fantastic sweat.

Tracy: How are the DOMS this morning? :p If you think Disc 13 was bad, wait until you get to Disc 14. My legs are soooooo sore! A good sore of course. :)

On that note, I need ya'lls advice. Leg DOMS tend to interfere with my cardio. As a result, I usually schedule "leg day" right before my rest day. As you all know, in Meso 2, leg day is in between the upper body w/os so my schedule currently looks like this: u/b, cardio, legs, cardio, u/b, rest, cardio. To keep leg DOMS from interfering with my cardio, i'm thinking of changing the order of the STS workouts by: (1) switching legs with the second upper body w/o (so my schedule would be u/b, cardio, u/b, cardio, leg, rest, cardio) OR (2) doing legs and the second u/b back to back (so my schedule would be u/b, cardio, cardio, legs, u/b, rest, cardio). Any thoughts? Do you think it makes a difference if I switch up the STS disc order slightly? Thanks soooo much!

Good Morning Ladies!

I did 4DS BC + KB cardios (but skipped w/u and punching combos at end of K/B for time) plus ab work on that disc this morning.

Katie:: Sorry about your FIL's accident and your DH's bummer B'day! That stinks but glad your FIL is okay and how sweet of you to do your best to make your DH's B'day as enjoyable as you could! :) Regarding STS...do what you have to to make it work for YOU. I have changed up the order and days I do my STS work outs this whole time in order to fit extra cardio in so changing up the order to avoid cardio after legs will be fine because that's what works for you! :) I personally try my hardest to make sure I can do cardio the day after leg day! I didn't get to do it for the last M2 leg work out and I could tell!

Tracy:: Love the weight work out shakes! I especially love post work out shakes! They are the best! Sometimes I can't even stretch my u/b w/o my arms shaking! :D

Guess that's all for now but I'll be back!

today I did IMAX 3...that is a tough workout...I don't know why but I just love Imax 2 better...it is more fun.

I'll try to do abs tonite...we'll see.

Fit mommy: tough combo of BC & KB ...good for you... Are you working off your weekend of splurge? We all need one of those every once in a while.

gotta go take a 2 min shower and run to Costco before I get the girls from school...

Missing you KIKI

ricklyk1: DOMS in upper chest today.. (I just finally found out what DOMS means today from Cathe's newsletter:eek:) Looking fwd to legs tomorrow..to reign in them hips.

Hey ladies! Y'all know I'm here, reading every thing, just can't write much ;) . I can tell you that yesterday I did Travel Fit, and STS extended stretch. Today, we went over to my bro and SIL's apt and worked out with them in their complex's fitness center. It was really nice & I got in a good shoulder & leg workout using the Smith machine, free weights (walking lunges  ) , and some machines. Also got a quick run in on the elliptical.

We're having a blast, but I do miss checking in with y'all! I hope to get caught up on personals soon (if I get any downtime, lol, NOT likely w/DH ;) )

Good Morning.

This morning I did Interval Max 1-3-5-7-9 plus abs from KCM NYC Body Sculpting.

Jumped on the scale this morning and was happy to find my weight all the way back down to what it was 2 Fridays ago which means a loss this week is a real possibility! Fingers crossed! I only have a half of a pound to go until I reach my inital goal! Pleeeease let me just get there already!:p:D

Tracy:: I am still working off the splurges from every single weekend in May! I had an absolutely crazy month of stuff going on. In a way it was the absolute worst AND best time to start WW. ;) ITA on Imax 2 vs 3. 2 is fun challenge :D while 3 is just tough as nails ! Good job banging it out! LOL that you recently learned what DOMS meant. I didn't realize that you didn't know! :D

Kiki:: Glad you are having a blast!!!!

Good mornin', good mornin'! Sunbeams will soon smile through, good mornin', good mornin', to you!

This morning I knocked out Disc 15 + abs from CCC. I'm frustrated with my biceps. Why does my left bicep have to be so much weaker than my right?? It really screwed up the bicep portion of Disc 15 and I threw a major hissy fit in my living room. Definitely my red-headed temper shinning through my stunning personality. Haha! :p

Kiki: So good to hear from you!!! Keep enjoying your vacation and great job sneaking in those workouts. :)

Wendy: happy dance Great job blasting away those sneaky pounds. I have this feeling you're going to reach your goal....by SATURDAY! :p Thanks for your advice about STS. I didn't think it would matter to much if I switched up the order of the w/os, but I feel much better having confirmation from an STS pro. ;)

Tracy: When I first joined the forums a few months ago I had to google DOMS. I had no clue what it meant either! :p I totally agree about Imax 2 v. Imax 3. Imax 2 is just awesome while Imax 3 is just tough. I have to admit the more I do Imax 3 the more I enjoy it. Have you tried Imax 1? I think it is on one of the new DVDs I bought recently but I have yet to try it out. Were you able to sneak in abs last night?

Katie:: I can have a temper like that and I don't have a stitch of red hair on my head nor any place else on my body! So don't feel bad! :p LOL-I am far from an STS pro but TY for the kind words. :)

I was feelin' all fierce & frisky y'day... did a kettlebell workout... found a paper kbell workout & decided I hadn't had enough... 20 minutes of swings & 18 hours later I have DOMs in new & unusual places AND I like it... but I'm shufflin' instead of walkin' :) Monday I just fit in 20 minutes of TJ and Sunday was Leaner Legs (which I still love).

Wendy ~ Happy dancin' with you on your weight loss!!!!

Katie ~ I am sorry about DH's bday. Did he enjoy his special dinner? So happy your FIL is ok. I have a temper too  but I will say it is more controlled as I mature and gain wisdom... ok get older. :p Just ask the nice lady who threatened to stalk me & hurt me b/c she didn't like where we parked (a legal parking place I might add). In my 20s, it would have been ugly.:eek: I won't say how ugly... but ugly. This version of me... well, I was all calm & cool headed (after I politely told her she was not going to stalk me) and she was hugging me and crying on my shoulder in the end.:(:) Anyhoo, I get the temper thing.

Tracy ~ I don't think I've ever done IMAX 3 :confused::eek::eek: I have it but never done it.

Kiki ~ Enjoy your vacation!! O M G, I get to meet you in a month. :D

Autumn:: You are bringing back memories of kettlebell DOMS for me! Hurts so good! ;) LOL about the lady who was going to stalk you but ended up hugging you! How does that happen!?!? :p Thanks re the weight loss. It's a never ending battle!!!

Wendy ~ Yes, the weight battle is ongoing... but we will defeat our fat cells. ;) I actually used therapeutic communication, which I learned in nursing school , and diffused the situation. As I was getting out to talk to her, which turned into a hug, I whispered to DH "watch her close... she may be armed", lol. I felt sorry for her when she explained why she was a self-proclaimed "psychotic $#**&"... very sad situation :( if she was telling me the truth... I watch to much TV so I've come up with all kinds of theories. ;)

Hi all!!

Today I did disk 14. It was a great workout. I am so glad and relieved I finally did some legs!!! I have worked so hard to get these hips down I was just concerned they would start to inflate soon, if sthg wasn't done.

Anyway, after that, I decided to do a little extra arm work, so I did an old Firm upper body workout: Jiggle Free arms. This also gave me some cardio. Of course, it was no where near the UB workout of Cathe, but that was good because I am STILL feelin' DOMS from Monday Disk 13. So it gave me just a little hit to those muscKles!

Katie: I don't have IMAX 1, I am thinking I would like to get it...but it is an older workout of Cathe's,.... and as I have said before,...I have some difficulty getting over hairstyles and clothing styles....I am trying to remember if that one has the THONG up the bootay??? Yes, I must say I used to wear these when I used to go to the gym back in the day:eek:...probably when you were like....ummm... SEVEN :eek:... I may, however, get that original Imax one day...However, I still have not even broken out Step Moves...:p

Fit Mommy: probably why I don't like imax 3 as much as 2 is because it is harder.... I guess I should do it more and get more fit!!!!

Autumn: How I would love to go to Florida and see you all! What a blast.

There was a new gal on here, Janell, who posted on Cathe's FB that she was starting STS and I posted under her post that she should come and join our STS group. She said she would but then she only posted once here. I hope she comes back!

blessings!

Tracy:: I used to wear the thong body suit thing paired with matching biker shorts to my Jazzercise classes back in the early 90's! :D

new to STS - starting Saturday:)

Hi - I just received STS and getting ready to start it - I'm so excited, reading the book, looking at the info on Workout manager and I've started the 1RM tests. I've been working out off and on for years, and got back on the wagon about 4 months ago - restarting Cathe videos a couple months ago. I've always been one of those who stayed away from heavy weights to avoid getting "bulky" (even though I know better). I need to focus on clean eating (that's been my problem in the past) so I can reach my goal. I'm getting so motivated and inspired reading all your posts - thank you all:)

I Googled DOMS not too long ago too... knew it must be something something muscle soreness, but couldn't figure it out... lol

I look forward to getting to know you all better,
Kris

Kris: welcome to STS!!! We are always happy to welcome new STS-ers to our little STS family!! I started STS the end of April. I had been exercising (back on the wagon) for about 6 months (similar to you). I have loved it! and I hope you do too!! My first month on STS I lost 4 pounds (for a total of 20 over the 7 months). I think that most of us also do cardio on our off-sts days. (but of course you don't have to) I am now into Meso cycle 2, having just had my rest week last week. Look forward to getting to know you. This is a great bunch of workout gals!!!

Fit mommy: I know those thongs!!!! I did the bike shorts with the body suit thongs too in the early 90's for my beloved step classes. Now all I can say is: yuck:p

I made a find this afternoon! I was reading about fitness stuff somewhere...anyway...someone was writing about how they use a walker to do upright pushups (or whatever you call them) You put a hand on either side of the walker handles and push yourself up. That sounded right up my alley. He said you could find the walkers at garage sales or thrift stores...so ever since then I have been kind of looking for one. Well, I found one like new at a thrift store today! I just bend my legs and push me up...It's tough!!!

Kris ~ WELCOME!!!!! :D I can't wait to get to know you and read about your STS journey. I finished Meso 1 & 2 and then dropped out but will be back again in the fall.

Tracy ~ Florida should be a blast... wish all of you were coming. I read the walker thread... didn't the poster mention using the walker for pull-ups too? Or am I making things up?

I did another grueling kbell workout... I am soooo sore this evening. I may actually order the DVDs to follow along but now I'm just going off the breakdowns I found on another forum. So that's it for me today. I need to go play on my foam roller but O U C H!!!!

Good Morning Girls!

Oh how cool another person is joining our group!!!:)
WELCOME Kris!!!
We can be a bit of a kooky bunch at times :p but we are harmless. Don't let us scare you away! LOL ;):D
I am doing the 5.5 month rotation which, in actuality is going to take me 6 months for some reason (LOL). Getting fabulous results so far! I am at the end of my active recovery between Mesos 2 and 3. I start Meso 3 on Saturday. I.CAN.NOT.WAIT!!!:D

So this morning's work out was KCM Split Sessions Lower Body w/o (30 mins) + KCM TLC Athletic Conditioning w/o (30 mins and included abs!)
Fabulous work outs and awesome combo! :D

Tracy:: I think the exercise you are referring to with the walker is dips. :)

Autumn:: I don't remember reading that pull ups were possible with a walker but I guess you could if you did them similarly to the way they are done using Cathe's tower. Boy you are really enjoying those kettlebells! So you have no actual DVD work outs using the bells yet? Holy cow I must have a dozen of them-a few of which are still in the plastic!
