STS January Check In - Welcome All!

My workout today was Party Rockin Step Extreme premix. 61 minutes, 435 calories, Amy Bento Step Challenge 4 first combo, 10 minutes,76 calories, Ab Circuits stability ball abs, 86 calories, finishing with The Art of Flow Yoga with Zuzana, 17 minutes, 52 calories. Total time was 1 hr 48 minutes and calories burned 649. I put in Step Challenge 5 and was having such a hard time focusing on the choerography so quit. I have done the first combo before but I guess my mind had enough of new stuff. Right now I am making some broc-cauli chowder with bacon from Practical Paleo. I have made this before and really liked it.

I guess I forgot to post yesterday. So, yesterday I did STS disc 23 legs , 25 minutes on the Tread Climber and Ab Circuits Yoga Inspired Abs. Total time was 90 minutes and calories burned 704

Justine, I always enjoyed Circuit Blast. I am glad that you were able to get Amy's workout to work. Those things are frustrating and time consuming.

Crazy Soccer Mom, I am glad to hear that the Migraine let up finally.

Today's workout was Rockout Knockout, 56 minutes, 373 calories. I then did STS disc 24 back and biceps, 43 minutes, 257 calories. I finished with Ab Circuits Pilates abs, 19 minutes, 68 calories. Total time was 1 hr 58 minutes, calories burned 698.

Great upper body workout! I bet your arms and shoulders were fried.

I've done walk, STS disc 9 (legs) and Ilaria's kickbox. The leg workout is one of the more cardio ones for me - I enjoyed it, it keeps moving. I also love Ilaria - for some reason her Powerstrikes always really relax me - I feel really stretched afterwards. My HRM said I peaked at 217 - I hope that was just a glitch!!!

Justine

Took yesterday off cardio. Still dealing with headaches off and on. I think I've been staring at the computer screen too long (data analysis) and probably need new glasses!

Today I was up early and Legs STS Disc 20. No deadlifts :( Those are my fave, but I am assuming she will give us those on the Back and Biceps workout. My legs are still fried and walking up and down the stairs at work is fun! lol

Crazysoccermom- I seem to remember there being LOTS of deadlifts at some point - I love 'em too. I got to the stage my forearms gave out first. I sometimes sub with goodmornings.

Today I did walk, then PRS #1 the long (70min?) combo with some from #1 and some from #2. Really enjoyed it.

I was meaning to do Bob Haper's Pure Burn Pure Strength (or whatever it's called) - but the weather was lovely this morning, so I did a load of outdoor stuff, then couldn't be bothered to do a metabolic w/o when I came in. Perhaps tomorrow?

Off to be measured for my bridesmaid dress now....

Good morning! Got a great workout in this morning. Did a premix from Ride, STS Weights & Plates Abs and then Disc 21. My biceps are feeling quite fried about now, but that's a good feeling.

I'm mostly doing Ultimate Yogi and spinning with my STS rotation and love how my arms are starting to look...just in time for spring/summer weather . My legs have always been muscular, so they take longer to respond and never quite have the same lean look as my upper body. Also been doing abs 3 days a week and seeing more definition.

Have any of you ever followed a Beachbody program or tried Shakeology? A friend is a coach and they are coming out with a 21 day fix. The workouts are about 30 minutes in length. I'm considering trying it for the 21 days as an extra push during the last STS mesocycle.

The sun is out for a change and melting some of the snow! Too bad calling for single digit temps again next week.

Good morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Justine, how was dress shopping?

I had a nice walk yesterday. We went about 6 miles through the snow. It was soft enough that it was a real challenge to walk in as we sunk as few inches with each step. At least the temps were a little nicer. By the time we got home, the temps had started to drop and we had snow again early evening.

Today I start week 4 of Meso 2! According to the Accu-Measure, I have dropped 3.4% body fat since January 20. Seeing results is helping to keep me motivated.

Lisa

I had a busy weekend with family. We had fun visiting and a double birthday party for my granddaughter and husband. 4 of the family dogs joined in too:) No workout Saturday and Sunday was a 20 minute Tread Climber workout. I finished meso 2 so am on my recovery week. I am not good at really doing a recovery week. I am using lighter weight workouts. Today I did Flex Train 57 minutes, 416 calories and Great Glutes Timesaver #4 standing premix., 46 minutes, 325 calories. Total time was 1 hr 43 minutes and calories burned 741.

Lisa, nice job on the body fat drop. That is a long walk in the snow. I have followed several Beach Body programs. Never used Shakeology though. I bought some stuff at General Nutrition Center that, comparing labels, was pretty much the same. It was called Super Food Supreme and was a berry flavor. Not yummy though, I mix it with vanilla protein powder and water or a little tart cherry juice and water. When I hurt my knee I was just finishing my second round of Body Beast from Beach Body. I was thinking of putting in some of T25 Gamma this week. These are nice and run around 30 minutes with the stretch at the end. I have a lot of their programs. I love Combat, Les Mills Pump is good, I wasn't really thrilled with Brazil Butt Lift Masters. Turbo Fire is fun for cardio. I heard about the new ones coming out and they look pretty good. My one complaint with Beach Body though is they are not chaptered where you can pick and choose chapters to do and they do not premixes. Cathe's workouts really do have me spoiled with that.

Justine, I have some of the Power Strikes workouts. I haven't done them in a long time. Ilaria is motivating. The only thing is she does all one side then moves to the other so there is no stopping part way through the workout. I have some Heavy bag workouts called the Addiction that are like that. Generally 20 minutes left side out the 20 minutes right side out. My HR monitor does that once in awhile. I had 222 once. I said something to my doctor and she said no way. She just said stop and take my pulse if I am worried. The thing was I wasn't winded or anything. Just a fluke.

Crazy Soccer Mom, there were deadlifts on back and biceps disc 24 that I did Friday. I like deadlifts too :)

Lisa - dropping that much fat is incredible - really well done. It really must be so motivating.

Bridesmais dresses! Humph! The young ones found very pretty dresses (they're 13,10 and 8). I just need to find something that won't make me look too silly!!

Yesterday I walked and then did Lean Legs and Abs. The floor work with the band gets me every time. Today I walked than did STS 10 - I got through all the pushups on my toes without a break, so I'm pretty pleased. I can't believe I''l be finishing STS on Friday. After 8 months!

Am about to go and do a HiiT w/o of some form - don't know which yet.

Because I'm doing the bodybuilding rotation, I'm supposed to move on to gym styles next. I thought I'd do the January 2014 rotation. Lots of MWT, which usually suits me.

Hope everybody else is well,
Justine

Recap of my weekend:

Sat: Ran 3.25 miles in less than 40 mins. Plus another .75 for warmup and cooldown.

Sun: Back and Biceps - got my deadlifts in. I don't know what it is about them, but they are one of my favorite lifting exercises :)

And .. Monday am at 1:00, I got hit by an upper and lower GI virus. OMG - I haven't been than sick in a LONG time. Ugh. Feeling better today, but weak since I've eaten nothing but a handful of saltines and some diet ginger ale all day.

So - no workout yesterday (unless you count heaving into a toilet) or today. If I get some stamina back, I'll to Chest/Should/Tri tomorrow. Until then it's recovery!

Great abs workout!
Seriously - I hope you're over it quickly. And your run time was great!

Yesterday I managed tabatacise in the evening, and this morning I did Bob Harper's Kettlebells - forgot that I'd done a load of push ups yesterday - there were more this morning. I was stiff!
I'm not doing another workout today - I've run out of time.

Diane - that's pretty intense for a recovery week!!!! (I'm the same - HATE having to rest)

Justine

Today I did 10 minutes of Ride on the spin bike, 107 calories. I then used the Tread Climber for 30 minutes, 345 calories, avg. hr 153/ max hr 171. Then I did the abs from Butts guts along with the bonus stability ball abs, 30 minutes, 158 calories. I finished with Shiva Rea Power Flow Yoga Fire and Water segment, 22 minutes, 72 calories. Total time was 92 min and calories burned 682.

Crazy Soccer Mom, I hope things are better today. Getting sick like that can really weaken a person.

Justine, push ups are not my favorite thing to do :) They seem to be incorporated in everything.

This morning I had to be up early to take my pup to the vet so was rushed with my workout. I did Kelly Coffey 30 minutes to fitness Trim Down both workouts combined, 57 minutes, 459 calories. I would like to see if I can fit in some yoga between errand running and picking my pup back up.

Yesterday I did UY Balance. I love that one. Makes me feel good when I'm able to hold some of those poses. I still have work to do, but seeing progress.

Today I did Disc 23 (legs). I'm glad the leg workouts for this mesocycle are over. I'm not a big fan of the 45 degree lunges and I think they were in every leg workout this mesocycle. I'll do No Equip Abs later and maybe an X10 premix (time permitting).

The sun is shining bright, but it's cold outside. Ready for some warmer temps. I'd rather be riding!

Lisa

Diane - hope your puppy is OK. Nothing too serious I hope???

Lisa - I know what you mean about wanting to be outside - I know I'll feel better when I'm able to be out for a while. Also agree on the 45o lunges - they feel a bit awkward to me.

I did disc 11 today, which means just 1 left to go  I also did my usual walk and then Kick Punch & Crunch. Feeling pretty good at the moment, and looking forward to a different rotation next week.

Lisa - are you about to do a recovery week? Any plans?

Take care,
justine

Good morning. Yes next week is an 'active' recovery week. I have the following planned:

Monday - Afterburn
Tues - spinning & HardCore
Wed - Crossfire
Thurs - spinning & HardCore
Fri - Gentle Yoga
Saturday - Yin Yoga
Sunday - rest (or walk)

I haven't had a rest day since Feb. 13, so I may rest today. Busy work day, then hair appt. If I change my mind, it will be spinning or Short & Sweet after my hair appt.

Lisa

Today I did Sharon Twombly's Zero to Sixty, 68 minutes, 523 calories. I then did Turbo Fire Core 20 and Stretch 10, 33 minutes, 134 calories.

Lisa your recovery looks good. I probably should have put in a day or two of just yoga myself. The workouts I am doing I am using really light weights. More cardio than anything else. Those 40 degree lunges are uncomfortable for me too. I try to take the push off the forward leg slow because there is a slight catch in my knees. I don't want to reinjure the one that had surgery.

Justine, my puppy is okay. She was spayed yesterday. She was very sick to the stomach when we brought her home and headed straight for her crate and did not want to come out. They had told me no water or food which was not as hard as I thought it would be because she had no interest. We did hand her some ice chips before we went to bed though. Much better today.

Diane - glad to hear about the pup. They can look so sorry for themselves, can't they? - Your w/o looks good / intense.

Lisa - great recovery week.

I have tried and failed to workout several times today - tried Hardcore Extreme Hi/Lo - gave up after 20 mins. Later I tried Intensity. Again, I gave up. Usually I would just figure that I needed a rest day - but I'm going away for the weekend, and won't get a chance to exercise, so I was hoping to get a good w/o in today. Oh well..

Last day of STS tomorrow!!!!

Going back to Meso#1 has really leaned me out. I think the January rotation I'm about to embark on will continue that.

I'm off to Manchester for the weekend to see my daughter - to a hotel with a great spa and restaurant right in the heart of the city. A girls' weekend away! Then a night with my parents who live just the other side of Manchester. Dad is currently skiing in the Alps, so I'm looking forward to hearing all about his 'boys' week away (the age range is 70 - 84!!!)

Take care,
Justine x
