*** STS COOLERS week of Feb. 9 *****

Hi all,
Rest day was yesterday. I didn't work out this morning. I have a chalazian (sp) on my left eye, so needed to uses hot compresses on it. Went home from work around 11, did my STS #7A workout and did lots of the hot compresses. Tonite is sewing at Mom's. My workout was good today, I felt strong and surprised myself.

Saturday was a golf game down in the valley with a couple girlfriends. Beautiful weather (high 60's I think) and a beautiful course. Sunday was a bike ride, then finished the quilt top.

Laurie, glad to hear your Mom came thru the surgery well. I was listening to my folks today, they were talking about some of their friends. They all have aches and pains and injuries. I hope that isn't the case for me in about 20 or more years. I'm hoping that all of my strength training and cardio will pay off in a good way.

Kim, hope you aren't getting sick. There are a lot of people with colds/flu right now. We have a camp trailer and love it. One of my very favorite activities in the summer. Hope you have many, many fun trips in it. Good thing I was prepared for all of the pushups in STS#7. There are a ton of them. I hear there aren't any in Meso 2 & 3. Thank God!

Patricia, 32 minutes or 27 minutes, probably doesn't matter too much. Better to do something than nothing. Of course, I'm the queen of shortening cardio workouts myself! I've been reading that Lean is a toughie! Bet you are looking good! Congrats on the new Bowflex dumbbells. I'm sure they will come in handy with STS. I need some steel 15#ers. My neoprene 15#ers are fat and I have a hard time with my small hands.

Must run, probably a cardio and abs for me tomorrow morning. No more slacking for me!

Just kicked dd off her Barbie computer game for a minute to post my exercise. Finished Disc 8. I woke up feeling fine so no cold maybe the extra sleep helped. It was -42 here this morning, where the heck is spring:confused: Guess there was a water pipe break (maybe due to the cold?) at the school tonight so not sure if kids will have school tomorrow or not.

Jeanette Hope that your eye is ok! Is it painful?

Laurie Glad that your mom's knee replacement went so well! Is your headache gone? I don't think we would camp at Disney, too far to drive. Hoping the flooding doesn't happen. Our city is on a flood plain so it's an issue every spring. There is a floodway around the city to prevent the actual city from being flooded now.

Patricia You must have been posting at the same time as me yesterday as I didn't see your post. You seem to be really enjoying CLX and getting some good results. Have fun curling!

Kim

Evening All

Went curling but the other team didn't show up:mad: so just the four of us. Well we spent the time playing 2 on 2 just for fun. My kind of active rest day:p:p

My Select Techs are suppose to be at Sears for p/u tomorrow by 11am so going to run their on my lunch hour. Wondering if I'll have to "sneak" them into the house, not that DH cares what I spend my $$ on.

Kim - when will we see grass? My DS swears he saw some on the way home from work yesterday but I'm not seeing it. Oh well, just another week or so. I remember you guys had a really bad flood their years ago and always think its one place that I don't want to live.:p Our company was just awarded the New Museum for Human Rights. Not sure when it is expected to start but soon I'm sure. Is it close to you at all?

Laurie - that's one thing I don't miss about the gym. Waiting in line for equipment:eek: How expensive can it be to have enough sets of DB on hand? Good to hear your Mom is doing so well. Hope your headache is better by now.

Jeanette - Chalazian - well that's a new word for me. I just googled it. I read that once you get them you'll have recurrences. Is this something new for you? Don't you just love it when you get your w/o's done early in the day? Hold on, look who I'm talking to here. I should say, great on getting your w/o in after all.:D

Boy, it just feels like Kim & Laurie are just moving along so quickly on STS. Makes it feel like that 3mos really isn't that long when you number the workouts.

Okay, start up my 2nd week of Lean tomorrow. I think it's mainly bis/tris.

Night, night.

The kid's don't have any school today. There was a watermain break which flooded the basement and also went into the heating vents. No heat or water at the school. It might be down for a few days. At least I'm off Thursday and Friday this week. Today I'm going in late for work, then doing some creative parenting.

Patricia Why would a whole team not show up?? That's so rude! Definitely no grass around here, just south of us really got hit with a blizzard yesterday, Fargo North Dakota is impassable with 9ft of snow. We got the cold/wind but not the snow.
Yes, we're getting the Human Rights Museum built here, should be an interesting place but will be quite a few years before it's open. It also sounds like we're going to get an IKEA here:D:D

Kim

Morning!

Today my workout was yoga, so Kristin McGee's Power Yoga was in the DVD player. LOL! Tonight is youngest DD's concert, and the last I will have to attend. :) She goes to middle school next year. DH and I where just commenting how we might have some fighting on our hands next year, because both DD's will be having to get up for school at the same time. Shower time is going to be interesting.

Jeanette, Hope that eye is getting better. I'm hoping that my exercise will do the same thing for me, have to think all the work we are doing has to pay off in the long run. :D

Kim, Ya I guess that would be a long drive with a trailer. ;) My headache is most always realated to the barometric pressure. I can tell that our temps will be changing when I get a sinus headache. And sure enough we went from 59F to 10F with wind chills that sent it down to -5F. I agree with you when is spring going to get here! Oh that school has to be a mess if it got into the heating ducts.

Patricia, Glad you had a good time last night even though the other team didn't show up. We used to have that happen with softball. My DH is the same way about all my stuff. I always apologize when I get something, but he says I don't care. :D

Have a great day!

Laurie

Yeah, got my Select Tech DB's today. One box weight 100lbs:rolleyes: They were able to get it into my trunk but I'm going to have to unpack it from there are no way I can lift 100lbs.

Freezing today. Thanks for sending the cold my way Kim:D Are your kids old enough to stay at home on their own? I'm lucky I can bring DS in for 1hr or so to get urgent work done. I do and don't like Ikea. I think their stuff is expensive but cheap but I can usually find something to buy whenever I'm there:p:p They're just popping up all over the place and I've never been to one yet where I haven't had to park a football field away.

Laurie - I grew up with 4 other siblings with 1 bathroom so I can relate with the bathroom nightmare LOL:D. The smartest thing for me to do was be the 1st one up which meant 6am to be ready for a 7:30 bus p/u...... I swear my brothers took longer than us girls.

BBL.

School is cancelled for the rest of the week!:rolleyes: Some happy kiddos here. I think water in the heating vents is not a good thing.

Patricia So is carrying in the dumbbells from the car your workout for today?? Probably the IKEA isn't so exciting if you have one where you live, it's such a novelty when we travel.
Well, the kids are 8 and 11. The 11 yr stays by himself but the legal age to babysit is 12 (which happens in April). We did let him babysit for a couple of hours in February (one time). So I didn't feel comfortable letting them stay home all day by themselves so I went in late. Then had my mom checked on them mid morning. At lunch DH picked them up and dropped them at my sister's for the afternoon. So they were home alone for about 3 hrs. My sister's 2 boys (ages 2 & 5) are in the daycare attached to the school so she has no daycare for the rest of the week. I told her I would babysit tomorrow.

Laurie Do you only have one shower? Maybe you need to make a bathroom schedule:D

Jeanette Did you get that cardio in this morning?? I'm heading off to do IMAX after I pick dd up from dance lessons.

Hi all,

Yesterday's workout was STS Disk 7A and boy, do I have DOMS in my chest right now!!!! That is rare for me. I'm getting sorer by the minute. My cardio was a bike ride today. After that was STS Med Ball abs. I'm still taking care of this eye, think it's better today. Tomorrow is Disk 8. Hope I'm not too sore.

Kim, I bet those kids are sure happy about no school this week. Congrat again on the new trailer! DH and I LOVE to take the trailer out. We are like 15 minutes from our favorite camping spot in the national forest, no one else around either, we just camp near a meadow, with tons of dirt roads everywhere, creeks, etc. Can't wait to go out again.

Patricia, if you're going to sneak those new weights into the house, guess you'll have to dismantle the package. Seems like I've had to do that before myself ;). That's too bad the other team didn't show. Not even a phone call? Seems pretty rude. Glad you made the most of it anyway. Chalazian, yep, I've had probably around 5 now. They are always in the same eye too (left one). Pesky, but I got off work 2 half days now to take care of it. ;)

Laurie, you must just have the 2 bathrooms, huh? Oh well, they'll work it out I'm sure. My eye is better. I need to go put more hot compresses on it, instead of riding bikes, typing on here, dinking around the house. I need to fire up that vacuum cleaner too.

Okay, must run,

Just finished Lean 2 along with Ab Burner. My arms were shaking recording my weights. I was hoping to use my new DBs, however, I can't get one of them out of the stand they come packed in. They have this patent pending locking mechanism that allows the dialing of the weights. Well this locking mechanism won't unlock from the stand:mad: Both me and DH tried and no go. So after a 1/2hr wait trying to get get someone in customer service pick up they are going to exchange it, but it'll take 1 week or so for a new one to be shipped. Hmm,, I ordered from Sears on Sun. and I had it by Wed... Anyhow, DH came home while I was unpacking so he helped me. I can pick up the whole 52.5#s but why bother when there is a strong man around:D

Jeanette - don't you just love the type of sick days that you can still get things you want done? They're the best. I really didn't mind DS being sick most of last week as it was my slow week.:D

Kim - trust me, I know what is like not to have selection of stores around anymore. I do miss being able to shop around and look for the best deal / selection of products. Have fun changing diapers tomorrow. I just got away from them LOL

Looks like Kim is one w/o ahead of you Jeanette? I can see with repeating each week 1x the benefit. With doing Lean #1 today for the 2nd time I found the combination moves flowed better.

Have a great night everyone

Morning!

Todays workout is Shoulders, Biceps, Triceps and Core. Another headache this morning along with the fact that I was hungry. Opted not to try lifting weights with this combination. My headache is gone, and I ate my breakfast so all is good. Have to remember to eat more protien for dinner, but we where in a rush to get to DD's concert. Which by the way was very nice (except for the young girl who thought she could sing!).

Patricia, Oh I remember those days, I have 3 brothers and 3 sisters (one bathroom). We managed, but for some reason I know our DD's will be punching it out. The problem will come in when one is in the shower, and the other is trying to get her "hair" ready! LOL! You know you need to see your hair in the mirror! Can you tell that we have already run into this senario! Sorry to hear about the DB problems. :( What a bummer.

Kim, I can just imagine what the school must be going through with that water mess. They will have to make sure all those heating vents are cleaned out so no mold grows. Messy Messy Messy! :( I would be supper happy for an IKEA! They keep saying that they want to get one in our area, the closest is in Chicago.

Jeanette, Get that hot compress on that eye! Somethimes it makes me wonder if all that chest work is necessary! I know slap my hands, but I have not been going gangbusters on my chest work. I have not seen my girls shrink as much! Do you think there might be something to that. Maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part! LOL!

Laurie

Did Disc 9 and STS stabilty ball abs. Some new (impossible moves on this ab routine) Got my two nephews, and I'm getting a bit of cabin fever. I was never good at staying home with young ones, I get restless and want to get out.

Laurie Glad to hear the concert went well! Did your dd sing in the choir?

Patricia What a bummer on the weights! That CLX program sounds more intense than I realized. Is it worth buying to do after STS?? Yes, I don't miss the diaper changes, I've had to do one stinky one so far so hopefully no more this afternoon.

Jeanette We're so excited about the trailer! We usually do some tenting each summer and both my mom and my MIL have cottages that we visit. It will be nice to take the trailer to the cottages to have more sleeping room. Maybe I'll see if I can post a link to what we bought.

Kim

Lets see, boring day at work. I'm all caught up so the day just seemd to drag. Oh well, take it while I can. Took DS to his swimming lessons and signed him up for another round that will take him to beginning of June. I'll be happy next month when there is less coats and boots to jam in the locker. I did Lean Intervals when we got home. It was supposed to be my rest day and do this w/o on Sat. but we're going to my parents for the weekend so just moved it up. Will be able to get Fri's w/o in as not going until Sat. a.m.

Just finished watching Survivor and now onto CSI.

Kim - LOL about the cabin fever. Is March break for you guys next week? If so, good timing for the school closing. I have 2 sets of CLX so I'd be more than happy to loan you one.

Laurie - glad to hear your headache is gone. I never get them except when I was pregnant. Then I understood what people went through who got them regularily:mad:

Jeanette - I guess you and Kim are 1/2 way through Meso 1. When you break it down by Meso it seems to go by so fast. I can't believe some have already started 2. Atleast everyone doing it b/4 me should get all kinks out of the system. I'm really enjoying the Cathe TV as I think the pointers are helpful especially since they're in advance of me doing the w/os.:D

Let's just the 2nd week of the Lean phase so still a couple week away from STS.

Have a great night all.

Hi Coolers,

Today was STS Disk #8A (Back and Triceps). This was a good workout and I felt pretty strong. I'll repeat this week next week too. I like repeating as I usually do better the 2nd time I do the workout. More confident I guess. I did a bike ride after work too. Some kind of step cardio in the morning, then golf with a friend out of town.

Patricia, I've got Survivor taping and will watch it later tonite I think, after DH goes to bed. I like being kind of behind on STS as I get to hear everyone else's comments and which are the tough DVD's, etc. Are you doing the 3 month or 6 month rotation? If you are doing the 3 month, you'll probably catch me soon.

Kim, I can't wait to see pics of the new trailer! What is the length of it? This is our 2nd trailer. The first one had liberty bells and Lincoln busts on the fabric for the cushions. Guess it was the bicentennial model LOL! It was made in 1976 or something, dinky, but worked fine for a while! Those stability ball abs are something (1 legged pikes, right, I'll be doing those real soon:rolleyes:). Did you like Disk #9? I still haven't used my weighted vest yet. Yuk on the poopy diapers, don't miss that at all...

Laurie, I'm enjoying chest work more because I'm not doing the pushups on my toes. Yep, I'm a lazy Xer, rememher? What's on tap this weekend? When do the faires start?

Okay ladies, I've got to go. Will be nice to sleep in a little tomorrow morning.

Morning!

Todays is a bike workout and core at the gym. Need to get there and out quick because we are going out to eat with my DB's and DS's and their spouses. So I told my sister to get a reservation, because we are a big party of 10. My DD's will be watching their younger cousins, just glad that my oldest niece and nephew will also be there to help them out. My youngest nephew is 2 and very very active! LOL!

Kim, Oh isn't it nice to give those children back to their parents at the end of the day though! :D LOL! The concert was for the 5th & 6th graders, and this is created by the music teacher. At this school the gym isn't very big so they have concerts for K, 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6. Every other year my DD was doing a Christmas concert, and then the other year would be in the winter/spring. Must keep the music teacher very busy. :D

Patricia, How is your DS doing with his swim lessons? Bet he is like a fish now. :D LOL I like CSI also, the young guy in this one with the gun did a great job acting. I really believed that he was going to shoot someone.

Jeanette, I do the push-ups on my toes until I get tired or if I feel a twinge in my shoulder. This weekend I'm going to get on-line to load those kitchen picks. This is a must do on my list. Youngest DD has dance class, and on Sunday I'm suppose to go to this meeting, but it mandatory. It's only a faire function, and not really important to my character. We will be starting rehersals starting June 7th and the run of the faire starts July 12th.

Laurie

Just finished KickMax, ds kept me company for a bit. Going to clean up, have some lunch and get out of the house for awhile. DD hears Build a Bear calling again and she has money from Grandma in her purse:rolleyes:
Rumors are that the school is not opening again until Tuesday!

I slept in till 9 this morning (very very unusual for me), I think part of the reason was that I had the blinds all closed tight from when my nephew was napping in there yesterday. After getting up late I checked email while having my morning coffee, and my sisters are fighting:rolleyes: just put me in a bad mood. The three of us are turning 40 on St. Pat's day and would you believe they are fighting over what to do for our birthday dinner, I hate always being the peacemaker.

Laurie Is your dinner for any special occasion? You sure get a nice variety of workouts done at the gym! Have you tried any of the classes?

Jeanette I did sweat a lot on Disc 9, the bonus leg work is with the gliding discs, I don't get much out of those. Takes practice I think. I haven't used the weighted vest either. I haven't found the leg workouts to be too different from each other. I think it's either the 45 lunges or the side plate glides that gave me such DOMS last week, not so bad today.
I can't find any pics of my trailer on their website. I'll post some when we get it. We had a tent trailer growing up and camped alot. My parents sold it and built the cottage when I was in university. They built the cottage at the lake to be a retirement home but then dad died 6 months before he retired at age 60. My mom still has the cottage but she really needs to rely on us to help her with it as she still has the house in the city as well. DH and I have taken the kids camping some but just with a tent. We do have to go to the cottage a few weekends each summer to help mom with some of the maintenance

Patricai Hope your having a better day at work! Two more weeks till spring break. I have a week of vacation but DH is working so I'm not sure what the kids and I will do all week?

Kim

grrr, just lost my post. Do you when you BACKSPACE lose yours? That seems to be how most of mine suddenly disappear:mad:

Okay, I did Lean Circuit #2 which is mainly Delts and back along with legs. Had the energy to did the Slim Series Express Cardio Core along with Cool it Off so about 1.5 hr w/o. I got a facial after work so that must be why I've got so much energy:D

Kim - the CLX discs have had a lot of scratches and gunk on them. Most people who have called to have a disc replaced and ended up receiving a whole new set of the entire program. One of mine doesn't have music on it after the WU and the replacement one didn't either, but I can live with it, however, another disc I did earlier this week kept freezing. I cleaned it tonight but have not checked to see if that fixed the problem, so I'm not ready yet to get rid of the extra set but still willing to loan it out. Hey, your Reading weeks are later than ours - at least it will be better weather for that. Turning 40 next week?? Are you a triplate (sp?). Did I ever tell you I'm a twin - fraternal though. My siblings and I don't speak enough to get into fights LOL:p

Jeanette - I'm undecided on whether to do 3 or 6 mos rotation especially with BB coming up. I'm hoping to start STS early-mid April and still have not decided even whether to do the 1RMs but close to doing them. Hope you had a good golf game.

Laurie - yummy, what did you decide on for dinner? Hope it was good. DH was supposed to get Chinese but decided to take DS out instead while I had my facial so dinner was a bowl of cereal for me:( but with strawberries:D Ended up missing the ending of CSI. Usually when I go up to bed DH is already asleep but not last night:( and I did not feel like coming back downstairs to see the last 1/2 so I'll have to wait for re-runs.
DH is really enjoying the swimming lessons, but we missed about a month of classes so I've signed him up starting in April for the same lessons. He loves the water and is finally leaning his face into the water but is still quite content to be dragged around the water and not really kicking or paddling yet. All in good time. I'm just looking forward to nicer weather where I'll have less jackets/boots to lug around in stuff in small lockers. I guess you have that issue at the gym?

Anyhow, off to visit with the parents tomorrow for my DB's 50th. Looking forward to seeing my parents since Xmas was the last time.

Take care

Hi,
Patricia, you are making me laugh, picturing you dragging your DH around the pool and him finally leaning his head into the water. I'm thinking you meant your DS? Know you will have a good time seeing your parents and family. My golf game today was wonderful! It was a 9 hole course that we played twice, so I did better the 2nd time around. Really fun and beautiful area. I'll be returning there for sure...plus it's relatively cheap. Yumm on the cereal and strawberries!

Kim, are the gliding disks the same as paper plates? Hope so cuz I don't have gliding disks. I did almost all of Imax2 with an 8" step this morning, then tacked on stability ball abs from STS Ab circuits. Stopped when I got to the pikes as time was short. We have a tent too, and DH sometimes likes to take it for the grandkids to stay in when we camp. I much prefer the tent (has a bathroom, running water, shower, etc.) I've gotten soft in my old age :D.

Laurie, I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures. A fairly busy weekend for you again.

Tomorrow is STS #9A. I have a little hitch in my right butt cheek so we'll see how I feel in the morning. My Mom and I are going to a neighboring town to shop for quilt fabric for new projects for she and I.

My DH got laid off today, but it's a planned one. He can only work this job for 9 months out of 12. He'll be off for 3 months, then go back. He may have another job lined up for the 3 months though, so we'll see.

Morning!

Todays workout will be some type of yoga. Only thing going on today is taking youngest DD to her dance class. Beautiful day so I'm hoping to get outdoors at some point.

Kim, Did you end up going to Build a Bear? What did your DD get? Our dinner wasn't for a special occasion, it was just to get my youngest siblings away from their children for a little while. And of course to not have a meal with little children complaining at a resturant. I could see my youngest sister relax as the night went along, I think her cocktail might have helped also. LOL! I have not tried any of the classes yet, the one I want to do doesn't fall on a night that I have free. :(

Patricia, Have a great time at your parents house, I always get that way to. My parents are a 6 hour drive, so we don't make it to often. We went to Claim Jumpers and I had the shrimp and scallop skewers, with a Sam Adams lite beer. Sorry to hear you missed the end of CSI. :( But you are right it will be on rerun. Sounds like your DS is doing pretty good with the swiming. Oh I'm ready for the release of these dang coats, boots etc.

Jeanette, I'm going to attempt to get something loaded in just a few minutes. Of course I'm dragging DH up here to help me. LOL!

Laurie

I just uploaded some pics of my kitchen in my profile, please don't look at the mess in my sink. Had family over last night and didn't do the dishes! And you just might see Cami looking out the patio door! Her favorite spot to catch those squirrels and deer!
