*** STS COOLERS week of Feb. 9 *****

Morning!

Todays workout was PY4H Quickie workout with Eoin. That is all I will be doing today, because of church tonight and I need to get myself caught up with my bible study. :D

Patricia, Oh yes the toys! I have only one child now that has to have toys. Soon she will be a teenager, and I can get rid of all the toys. Kind of sad to think about that. Hope you do well on the Lean stage of CLX, have you noticed any improvements since starting this rotation?

Kim, The BBQ beef was good, but I think it will be even better when we have it for leftovers. More time sitting in the juices usually make things like BBQ taste even better. :D If you 30 min on the TM was lazy, mine was a snooze fest! LOL!

Laurie

Morning

Finished Lean 1 which is Bi/Tri's with some squats and lunges thrown in. It was hard to go down in weights as the reps are back up to 12. I did find some of the moves difficult as Chalene combines bicep curls with lunges. I just don't feel it in my legs but will trust in the program for now:D

Tomorrow is a rest day but may try to get a short cardio in. Hopefully I'll be back to work as DS didn't wake up with a fever today:):)

Laurie - I think I keep fluctuating about 3#'s but I do feel tighter overall. I also lost a few pounds b/4 Xmas with doing HIIT and have managed to keep it off. This phase is where you're supposed to see the results.

Kim / Jeanette- are you feeling fatigued from keeping up the cardio along with STS? I'm wondering if the cardio s/b shorter instead of 1hr long.

Seems like I'm spending lots of time "tweaking" my 1RM on the workout manager which uses up all my 'puter time. I just finished Disc 6B, and I was sweating more than I did with my run yesterday  Then ds and I did the partner abs together.

Patricia, I'm doing Cathe's 3 recommended cardio mixed in with a couple of runs and then maybe 1 thing like cross country skiing since I have 2 weeks to get it all in. I am finding the cardio a lot which is why somedays it's nice just to do a gentle 30 min jog instead of MIC

Laurie DH has been using Eoin's yoga dvds to stretch out after his long runs.

Hi Coolers,
Yesterday was STS 5B, good workout, today was 45 minutes of cardio from Amy Bento's Hi-Lo Dome Challenge and SJP Hi-Lo. Finished it off with the no equipment abs from STS Abs Circuits. No Garage Boys tonite, just didn't feel like it as I was out sewing at Mom's last night. Came home in a snowstorm and slipped around a bit on the road due to the consistency of the snow for some reason. Today was all froze up and no slipping, but that slushy stuff was awful last night.

DH's calf was better and he went to work today. He's limping around, but I think he'll be fine. Wonder why the muscle pops like that? Out of the blue too. Not like he was doing some great athletic move (cuz he wasn't).

Kim, I'm jealous that you got to do the partner ab workout. DH says when he's laid off (another week), he'll start getting in shape. Okay, no holding my breath here. Who knows, though, maybe I can get him to do those partner abs with me. Ab Ripper X about killed him, if you go by all the grunting and groaning I heard. Sheesh!

Patricia, I'm not doing long cardio with STS, only about 45 minutes, unless it's my day off or a weekend. Then I tack on the abs and it's around 60 minutes by then. Glad you are getting results from CLX. Sounds like that's a great program too. STS is making me feel tighter and I know my arms have improved. DH commented on them yesterday. Wish my a** would improve, which is where I need the most help. Oh well.

Laurie, bet the kitchen looks nice. Can't wait to see the pictures! Sorry about the car repair bill. I hate those.

Must run, STS Disk 6B tomorrow.

Goodness gracious do I ever have DOMS this morning, especially in the inner thighs. I rarely get DOMS, my muscle were spasming while trying to fall asleep last night :(
Plan to do cardio after work either run on the tm or cross country skiing with ds. Kim

Morning!

I'm at work early today for an all day EHS training. This is a good thing, we get our EHS training done in one day, but I think this will be very boring.

Chat at you all later,

Laurie

Hi All

Just popping in while I watch Survivor. Was going to take DS to pre-school today but he looked so tired at breakfast I decided to take him to work with me to get an hr or so of work in and bring him back home. DH then decided to take the morning off so he took DS back home. I worked until lunch then took the rest of the day off so DH could go back to work. DS is much better so everything s/b back to normal tomorrow.

I have enjoyed getting my w/o's in during the day though:p Today was suppose to be a rest day but I did the timesaver cardio from BM2 and the stability ball segment from the AB Circuit of STS. I did most of it until we got to the "downhill skiing" part on the ball. That will be something for me to work to. I'm enjoying that the ab w/os don't seem rushed.

Kim - did you get out skiing tonight? Weather is starting to get warm and not much time left for snow sports (thank goodness). Good on the DOMS. I thought about asking DH to do the med ball w/o but I don't think he could twist around far enough to pass it. So jealous you have a partner. Well DS would try it with me if I gave him a chance but I'm not risking a 3.5yr old tossing a ball at me regardless of weight:p:p

Laurie - what is EHS. I need to update my St. John's training and wish it was more fun. We do it after a long day at work over 2-4 evenings:(

Jeanette - great work on STS and already seeing some improvements. You'll be ready for bare arm season at least. Glad to hear DH is managing. Well if you're going to be laid off at least there is some side benefit? Is this a seasonal thing?

The Gods' must be looking kindly on me today. I had to go to a walk-in clinic tonight to have 1 stitch removed from my mole biopsy (could you believe it my Dr's office woudn't squeeze me in). I was worried that I'd be waiting 1-2 hrs. Well NO ONE was there. I was in and out in under 2 mintues. I was a happer camper let me tell you.

Okay, that's it for me tonight.

Take care all.

Morning!

Todays workout will be a spin on the bike and core work at the gym. Will head there right from work, because DD has a nasty cold and needs to rest up before track starts on Monday.:)

Patricia, Glad to hear that your DS is starting to feel better. Did you take pic's before you started CLX so you can see the changes to your bod? I will be doing that before I start STS, just to see. EHS stands for Environmental Health and Safety, so we had a crash course on ladder safety, driving safety, lead awareness etc. Once a month we also have different courses. It almost feels like overkill, but our safety record has improved by huge numbers since they started doing these kind of things regularly.:)

Kim, So your DH is an Eoin fan too? I just love the dog, and some of the comments that he makes during the DVD. What does your DH think about the ice cream being licked off of him? LOL! How did your DS like the partner ab workout. I want to try that one with my DD.

Jeanette, I'm hoping to have the pics of the kitchen up tomorrow morning, just don't seem to have the time at night to putts with the computer. Is you DH getting better with his bumm leg?

Laurie

Did a 4.5 mile run on the tm as signed up for the police half marathon on May 3rd. Going to do it as a 2 man relay so 6.5 miles each, ds signed up as well!! DH is going to do the whole thing as part of his marathon training. Fun running on the tm when I'm alone at home as I can sing outloud to my mp3 player. :D

Laurie I don't know if I would call DH a fan of Eoin, he does find the yoga very beneficial after running a lot of miles. He could not stand YogaX, I think he likes Eoin because they're short workouts and he thinks some of the things he says are just a riot. Hope you're dd is feeling better soon.

Patricia We ended up skipping the skiing yesterday as there was freezing rain happening  I bought ds cross country skiies (?sp) for his upcoming 12th birthday (April) as there was a good sale on the end of the season. We wanted to get out and try them at least once so hopefully over the weekend.

I couldn't believe the DOMS I had in my inner thighs from disc #6, it was my second time doing it and I didn't have any last week. My goodness was I sore yesterday. I think that not doing the throwing weighted ball work with a 3.5 yr old is a great idea.

Jeanette How did disc 6 go for you the second time around? I know that you don't get DOMS often but neither do I. So if your DH decided to get in shape what does he do? Does he use your videos? Glad that you're starting to see some results from STS My weight hasn't really changed but I noticed a pair of pants that I often wear are more comfortable in the waist.

Going to pick ds up soon and take him to the dentist as his replacement retainer is finally ready for pick up (to replace the one he left in the hotel room in Florida ) No insurance on it either. Then this evening we might head to the RV Show at the conference centre as we are thinking of buying a pop up camper.

Kim

Just a quickie check-in b/4 my short starts up at 10 - Battlestar Galactica

I sent DS back to pre-school today so I HAD to go into work:( Busy day getting caught up. I promised DS to make muffins with him after dinner so we did. He even is getting better at spooning the mixture into the cups. He made me a Valentine card last month that says I love Mom b/c she plays trains with me and makes muffins with me. So I guess now I have to make more muffins with him:D

Did Lean 2 today - shoulders & back. Some funny balancing moves that I think I'll separate. Like lateral raises while abducting your leg with the band. Just not feeling it in the legs when I'm concentrating on my UB.

I have a mani/pedi schedule tomorrow morning. DH is taking DS to a snow-cross race for the day. Hope its not too slushy as we've gotten mild weather the last few days. At least it'll be warm to be outside.

Kim - ha, so now you've got to get your running up to speed eh! Good for you and your family. I guess a family that excercises together stays together:p Maybe you should make DS do the whole marathon to make up for losing the retainer:confused:

Laurie - I thought about taking pics and measuring but never got around to it. I'm wondering if I should for STS as it might be a better motivator for me not to eat the sweets that I have been this week:D Hope you had a good w/o at the gym.

Waving hi to Jeanette

Later,

Hi Coolers,
Today's workout was the cardio premix from Cardio Fusion, then did the Med Ball abs from STS Abs Circuit. Tomorrow is a golf game down in the valley with a couple of girlfriends. Weather is supposed to be 69 degrees!!! I'm going to slather on the sunscreen to this old white skin. Probably won't do STS Disk #7 tomorrow as I don't want my hands and arms to be fatigued when I play. Some excuse, huh? May do a cardio in the morning instead, maybe a Christi as I'm needing a fix. Oh yes, yesterday was Disk 6B, and I'm feeling my leg soreness today. I did better with the sit and stands, but had to drop my weight from an 8#er to a 5#er. Whatever. I also held DB's when doing the wall squats, but didn't put them on the ground and pick them up.

I've attached a photo of the almost finished quilt top. I've been sewing like a mad woman lately, and loving it. I still have the border to go around it, then basting, batting and machine quilting. I also uploaded some pictures to my album if you'd like to take a peek.

Patricia, how fun to bake with your little one! I almost made the beer bread tonite, but realized I'd probably be the only one to eat it and don't want that temptation right now. Yep, you've got to make muffins on a regular basis for sure. Makes me think of a mini-muffin recipe that I have that has you rolling the warm muffins in melted butter, then rolling them in a sugar/cinnamon mix. I'd better get that thought out of my head... Sweets are definitely my downfall, then salty stuff. Hmmm, what else is there? Enjoy that manicure/pedicure tomorrow. I need to watch Survivor. I forgot all about it last night, but I have it taped. I'm glad you didn't have to wait long to get the stitch out. Our emergency room up here is a nightmare. I don't think you can get out in less than 4 hours. It's ridiculous.

Kim, I do have some DOMS today from Disk 6B. Noticed that after typing forever for my boss and getting up at 3 p.m. today. Think I was walking funny. My pants are looser too, which is nice as that's where my fat is (most of it). My abs are getting flatter too. I remember when doing P90X a couple years ago that I got good results in my abs. DH said he would start running to get in shape, but I'm not holding my breath. A few years ago, he did a Gilad or two with me, also did KenpoX a time or two and moaned and groaned thru Ab Ripper X a couple times. Let's see, yes he did do a Cathe weight workout once or twice and it about killed him. His calf is all bruised today, I see, but he's getting around fine.

Laurie, can't wait to see the pictures of your kitchen. How was working out on the recumbent? The last time I used one was at a hotel workout room and it had a bad "knock" in one pedal that drove me nuts. Hope your DD is feeling better. DH's leg is better but I think it will take a couple weeks at least before the limp is gone. I think he needs to do a Eoin workout session. Now that would be a cold day in he**. LOL!

Anyone know anything about popup trailers?? We were at the RV show last night and want to buy a little tent trailer but can't decide between a Starcraft and a Palomino? Just thought I would ask.

Just finished Disc #7, my goodness the pushups are crazy in this one! DS was running on the tm while I worked out and then we did the extended stretch together. He did 3 miles on the tm but then his ankle was quite swollen after:confused: Still rehabing it, I guess. I told him about your suggestion, patricia, but the problem is he would do it if I let him.:rolleyes:

Jeanette Enjoy that sunshine for us!! It's still minus 22 up here. I think it's perfectly reasonable to wait until after the golf game to do disc 7 as it's a hard one!! I'm glad that I'm not the only one that got leg DOMS from 6B. Love the colours in the quilt!

patricia Enjoy the pedi/mani! How did the muffins turn out?

Good Sat. Evening

Well, I don't know but I'm about to fall asleep all of a sudden.

Laets, see got up and went out for a family breakfast then went off to my mani/pedi appt. I now have blue toe-nails:D Went out for lunch and did a bit of shopping and test drove a Toyota Rav 4. We're playing with the idea of getting rid of the Civic as it's an '03 with 147k kms. I liked the ride but out the door w/tax it's $33k. I thought we were in a recession?

Got home and did Burn Intervals and just didn't have the energy in me to do abs so will have to tack that on tomorrow.

I've been shopping around for the Bowflex Select tech dumbells. I only 20's and need at least 25's for lets with CLX and wondered if this would help solve having enough weights for when STS begins. Mainly to get 2.5# increments.

We had a lovely evening with friends over for dinner. We'll we've only just really met them and this is the 1st time we've gotten together so a little "uncomfortable" as you're feeling each other out. The 2 DH's really get along and so far I'm like his wife.

Kim - LOl about your DS running. I'm trying to justify the Select tech purchase that DS will use them ONE day..... Nope, can't help you on the pop-up question other than they look easy to set-up and pull. Oh yes the muffins turned out perfect. Pretty hard to screw up when you just add water:eek:

Jeanette - You must have been reading my mind from Thurs. It was a toss up between Cardio Fusion or BM2 and BM2 won out:D Our temps are finally starting to get onto the + side of the scale so I'm with you on the sunscreen pretty soon too. That quilt is really coming along. Mom is working on one now but it's for a double which I don't understand as all us kids have Queens... I guess she's not making this one for any of us hu?

Okay, I'm getting bleary eye so off to hit the hay.

Morning

Just finished Lean Circuit #3 - lots of pushups, and then did I've Got Abs which also includes lots of PUs:rolleyes: Tomorrow is some HIIT and stretching and that finishes up my 1st week of Lean. HARD, HARD except I'm not feeling it so much in my legs. This phase combines UB and LB moves like the Burn phase did, except now I want to go heavier and can't.

Kim - are you using your new vest yet with STS? How are you liking it?

We bought a trailer! The kids are so excited. Also if we bought at the RV show (which we did) they were including a pair of season tickets for the Blue Bombers (football). Now, the only problem is we don't have have a vehicle that can pull the camper. So we will be vehicle shopping next.:D

Busy day today, went to watch my nephew play hockey, church and then I went crosscountry skiing with ds and my mom. We decided to try a 6 km trail, but ds is still learning to ski and I didn't realize that would be too much for him. It took us 2 hrs:confused: the poor guy was struggling but there was no shortcut back again. What a trooper he kept on going but he's not planning on going skiing again anytime soon.

Nope, haven't used the weighted vest yet but I'm already ready for Meso 3 :D:D I think DH and ds have both used it on the tm.

Going to relax on the couch the rest of the evening! Kim

Too funny on your DS Kim at 6km too much for him. Aren't they suppose to have all the energy?:p:eek: What fun with the trailer. When do you actually get it? Okay, you're super organized so I'm pretty sure you already have a vacation planned.

I'm still up as DS was having trouble getting to sleep tonight. He is sound asleep now but now I can't get to sleep.

Well, I didn't spend as much as you today Kim, but I did buy the Bowflex Select Tech dumbbells from Sears today. (That's what happens when DH goes off to ski do all day:D:D) I p/u on Wed. I'm hoping they will be put to good use with STS.

Off to watch the news and try to fall asleep.

Morning!

Todays workout is Chest, Back, Legs & Abs.

Kim, We have a pop-up camper, but it is a Coleman. So what camper did you end up getting? Interesting how much more money you need to spend when you just buy one little thing. I think that is how my exercise DVD/equipment in my basement started. Just one little VHS tape. LOL!

Patricia, Congrats on you new purchase too! I think you will like those new DB's. At least I have heard good things about them.

Have to get to a meeting,

Laurie

Man, am I pooped. I'm really feeling DOMS in the abs, pecs, biceps, shoulders. Lean is quicking my a**:D All week to record my weights my hand has been shaking:cool:

I didn't have enough energy to do the 32 min HIIT w/o but did the shorter one at 27 min. called Burn it Off then did the Slim in 6 Slim and Limber stretch DVD. I didn't take any rest days last week with being home with DS so that may have been a mistake. Tomorrow is a scheduled rest day and I'll be curling. Good timing.

It was snowing when I woke up this a.m. but by mid morning the sun was out. Just a couple more weeks and I'm sure all the snow will be gone then let the mud begin...

Kim - so now you have to stock the camper with dishes and such. Have fun shopping.

Laurie - are you doing all your weights at the gym still? You never said how your Mom is doing.

Jeanette - waving hi. It must be getting warmer for you now.

Off to finish watching 24.

Taking today off as feeling kind of yucky, hope I'm not getting a cold as lots going around work.

We bought the Starcraft, we can pick it up anytime but need to buy a new vehicle first. There's 6ft of snow on the ground with a winter storm warning for tomorrow so no hurry. Probably early May we'll pick it up. Laurie, hopefully it'll be just the 2 big purchases as we do lots of camping with a tent so have all the dishes, sleeping bags, etc. LOL, on the vacation, Patricia. No specific camping trips planned yet but I do have next winter's Florida vacation booked already.;)

Let us know how you like the new dumbbells! I've always wonder how convenient they would be.

Morning!

Todays workout will be my TM at home and some Core work. I need to take youngest to her dance class tonight, so that is why the workout at home. I could have done my workout this morning, but I had such a headache.:( It will all workout ok in the end.

Patricia, I have been varying using the gym for weights, but that is one thing that is hard to get at the gym. It appears that they are starting to put another weight area in the upper part of the gym. They seem to run out of weights, and pre-set barbells. :( I noticed on Friday that they set up some new cardio machines upstairs, so I'm hoping for a new set of weights too.:D LOL! Oh my Mom did great with her knee replacement, and didn't have to go into the nursing home at all. She did so well with her therapy that she could go home three days after surgery. I'm so proud of her determination, and she is so happy!:D

Kim, Hope your cold doesn't hang around to long. I don't think you will be going camping with all that snow on the ground. LOL! We have been having so much rain that our snow is gone, but now we have rivers at flood stage. Are you going to be camping at Disney? ;)

Jeanette, Hope you are doing well.

Laurie
