STS Body Rockers - Week of August 28th

Hi there everyone!

I struggled through MIC this a.m. - I just couldn't quite get into it - really looked forward to getting done. It was a good calorie burn, but was just one of those days I guess.

Bridget - so sorry you're feeling so bad :( I hope you are back to 100% soon. Stay safe in that storm and I'll cross my fingers that you don't lose power, I hate when ours goes out.

Wendy - hope you're home soon - stay safe!

I don't know if Kiki is affected by the storm - hope you're ok too!

Hope you're having a great weekend Katie! How's the weather in Kentucky? :)

Record heat for us this whole past week, 112 degrees today - it was raining around us last night but none right here - hopefully the poor critters out there in the desert get some relief soon with some rain and a break from the heat.

I've started planning my workouts post STS:) I just got High Reps and Circuit Blast just prior to starting STS, and haven't tried them yet, so they'll be in there. I'm really sad that STS is ending, but excited to try something different again. :) I saw a post from Kiki elsewhere about doing 2 Total body type workouts (1 circuit type and 1 more standard total body), then 1 focusing one more day on a area that needs some extra attention (probably will be Legs for me - though I'm liking the Shoulders too) and then the rest Cardio/abs/stretch with 1 rest day each week. Thank you Kiki:)

I think Cathe recommends taking a recovery week after finishing STS - do you all do that?

Have a great day everyone!

Kris

I guess posting at the same time as you Wendy - saw you're headed home via car tomorrow, I wish you safe travels! :)

Hey all, no workouts for me. We live right on the NC/VA border (where Irene had her landfall) and were braced for the storm all weekend, & spent all day cleaning up her mess  We were blessed in that we suffered minimal damage & we have power. Most of our family & friends (those that have returned from evacuating) are still w/o power.

Keepin y'all in prayer, Bridget. Hope you fare ok w/ the storm as well.

I'll be back to check in, in the morning. Have a good night everyone.

Hi ladies,

Sorry i've been MIA. Here's what my workouts looked like this weekend (and today).

Saturday - 4DS step double cardio + abs
Sunday - High Step Training + AC: medicine ball abs
Monday - MMA: Boxing

Sunday was my first time doing High Step Training and those weight sections burned. Overall I enjoyed the workout though! The time flew by.

Kiki: I'm very glad to hear you survived Irene!!! I've got your friends/family in my prayers. The Today show had pictures of the flooding in VT. I feel so awful for everyone affected by that (and Irene in general).

Bridget: I'm hoping and praying everything is okay for you too! I've been really worried about all your east-coasters. Is the cold any better yet? Maybe it's time to see a doctor...

Wendy: Have you made it home yet? I hope you had a fantastic week at Disney to make up for the crappy weather and lack of air transportation home.

Kris: Wow, you're almost finished with STS. That's crazy talk! :p I took an active recovery week after finishing Meso 3 and it was wonderful! I highly recommend taking one. MIC was on the calendar for this week but I decided to do Athletic Step instead. I'm just not sure about MIC...then again I should at least give it a try before passing judgment. After STS I did (well, am still doing) Cathe's July 2010 rotation which consist of 3 cardio w/os, 2 circuits and 1 full body a week. I personally found it very refreshing after the "split" style of STS. Just an option for you to consider! :) The weather in Kentucky was actually really nice this past weekend (I hope Kiki, Bridget, and Wendy don't read that  ). I spent most of Saturday at the Kentucky State Fair and had a great time. I hope you're surviving the awful heat! Yuck.

Katie

Hey gang
Quick check in on my iPhone.

No power, lost a fee trees, branches, but house okay. Many places without power. We have water, but it isn't warm. We have generator for fridge, tv, light & coffeepot.

Showering at neighbors house, they have gas hot water. No workouts yet- let's see when power comes back on.

Cold is easing up

Dd starts school on Wednesday

Kiki, stay safe. It is messy but we're ok.

Thank you all for your prayers & well wishes.

Bridget

Hi there ladies,

I had Plyo Legs, disc 32 this a.m. - got through it... boy those are like nothing I've done before - if it's about shocking my body, it's doing it:)

Bridget - so glad you're feeling better - glad you have water too, hope you get your power back soon. Glad your house is ok.

Kiki - glad you're ok after the storm too! So scary!

Katie - thanks for the advice on your post STS rotation! Sounds good! You got in some great workouts! Glad your weather is good - it's August here, so we expect it to be hot, but it's exceeding our expectations - can't wait til it cools off at night at least - should be pretty soon.

Hi Wendy - hope you're home safe and sound soon!

Have a great night everyone,

Kris

Good morning,

Today I did High Reps. My poor triceps were burning half way through that section and I completely failed out at the end of the lying extensions (did dips follow that? really? I didn't notice. :D :p ). Time to start setting some goals for myself (i.e. don't cry during tricep section, control cursing during hover squats, no yelling at tv, etc.). ;)

Bridget: So glad to hear you and your family are safe!!! Make sure to keep it that way! ;) If you need anything let us know. I can whip together a care package in no time. :)

Kris: I hear ya on the cooler evenings. I can't WAIT for fall to really kick in soon. It's my favorite time of the year! Cooler weather, football season, t-shirts and jeans feel perfect outside, no more yard work (well some still, but not as much). Just perfect!

Wendy: I hope you made it home safe!

Kiki: Hang in there lady!

Hi there:)

I did 4DS BC Cardio PM this a.m. - I like that one, though one of my dogs was watching me and seemed to be looking at me like I was losing it when doing the Suicides - lol. I had the weirdest dream last night - I did Circuit Blast in my dream, and was horrified that I had messed up my STS rotation by doing the circuit workout before I was done with STS - yeesh, you know you're obsessed with this stuff when you're dreaming about it at night right?

Katie - great job on High Reps - I have that one but haven't done it yet due to doing STS:) Looking forward to trying it - though maybe not looking forward to the triceps now... Made me laugh - I curse sometimes too while working out, I'll work on that too.

Kiki, Bridget and Wendy - thinking about you all - hope you're all doing good!

Have a great night, Kris

Still no power here, eating off of grill, cold shower but we have a generator that runs fridge, tv light. We are lucky like that, sharing Power w neighbors for phones, etc. Cell service limited, reg phone out.

DD started school today- they have power.
WW has power- lost another 3.2 lbs! Not sure how, especially this week.

We have been blessed with beautiful weather, warm, dry- making things more bearable. It was quite a Cat 1- amazed at the damage done, esp in VT.

Hoping to resume STS when life settles down.

Kiki- Hope you are safe dry & powered! Thinking of you

Wendy- hope you made it home safe

Kris & Katie- I enjoy reading your wo's when I check in on Cathe app- I'm with you in spirit.

Take nothing for granted!!

Bridget

Hello there,

This morning I did Athletic Step. I'm starting to really like that one! Though it is rather short, I always work up a great sweat. Plus it leaves me time to add in a little ab work (well, usually - I was running behind this morning :D ).

Kris: I'm still giggling about your "circuit blast" dream! That's hilarious!! I sometimes dream about my workouts too. THAT if anything should prove we are true Cathletes! :p High Reps is fun! It moves fast but you really only use 2-3 sets of dumbbells, a barbell, and a band so its easy to set your equipment out and grab and go! The tricep section is, in my opinion, the toughest section in the workout. There is a leg section using a plate (or in my case a magazine) that I LOVE! Definitely give it a try post-STS. I'm eager to hear what you think about it!

Bridget: Hive five on the weight loss! It must be all that healthy grilled food you are eating. :) Maybe the bright side of all this (can there really be a bright side to a hurricane??) is that it is giving you time to recover from you cold before jumping back into STS. :) Hang in there lady!!!

Hey Ladies.

Did BR from 8/28 this morning before heading off to my first day back "in reality" and let me tell you...reality bites!:p:(

Not sure what I told you about our travel situation in my last post but we decided to drive home from FLA instead of chancing having to wait all week for a flight. Left FLA 830 Monday morning and got home about 3am Tues morning. Drove straight through. It wasn't bad until about 6pm but when it got bad, it was just awful! Was so happy to be home though!

Hope all is well. Will start fresh with personals tmrw!

Hi there everyone,

I did Disc 33(!) this a.m. - definitely went to failure on triceps and shoulders - owwwch!

Welcome back Wendy! So glad you're home safe and sound - sounds like a looong trip back. Great job getting in a workout!

Bridget - Hope you get power back soon - it's been a long time! Glad the weather now is cooperating. Woohoo on the weight loss!!! Great advice - take nothing for granted, always important to remember that one! STS will be there when you are back up and ready for it - love that. :)

Katie - That dream was funny - glad to hear I'm not the only one dreaming about this stuff  We are definitely Cathletes due to that if nothing else - lol! Great job on Athletic Step - I really liked it last time I did that one too - first time I did it I never thought I'd say that! I'm really looking forward to High Reps now - sounds tough (crying through triceps - yikes!) but awesome!

Hi Kiki! Hope you're doing alright - we worry about you guys! Crazy crazy weather!

Have a great night everyone - talk to you tomorrow:)

Kris

Good Morning.

Today's work out was killer!

100 reps of jump rope + 25 jumping jacks for a warm up then...

Tonique Mat Back Lying Segment (omitted ab work)
8/31 Body Rock Work Out
50 Push Ups
Abs/Stretch from Power Hour

BBIAB for personals!

What time is it? Do I have to get up? :p

Oh ladies I am soooo tired today. I'm not sure what's wrong with me. I slept fine last night (even went to sleep a little earlier than usual) but I could barely wake up this morning. I even slept the whole way to work (DH drove) and now i'm just staring at my computer screen like "really? you really expect me to play attorney today? Yeah, i'm thinking that's not gonna happen."

Well, I did force myself to workout this morning (after a long internal struggle) and I decided on Patrick's Lean Hot Body. I've only done that one a few times but it is a killer! The workout is 70 minutes total (including abs) so I had to cut the last interval short so I could sneak in the abs section. Now that our Ab Nazi is back I can't skip those abs anymore! :p ;)

Wendy: SO GLAD to hear you made it home safe! Whew, what a crazy mess! Did you hit any rough weather or road conditions on the drive back? Your DS must have been a trooper to survive that long straight in the car. Besides the travel fiasco, did you have a good time at Disney?? What did your DS think of it? "100 reps of jump rope + 25 jumping jacks for a warm up" - THIS is your warm up?? Wow, i'm thinking i'm a wimp. Haha! :) Way to go Wendy!!!

Kris: Great job on Disc 33! You're going into your last week of STS right?!?!?! Yay, you're almost there! :) Any celebrations planned for when you finish up? Maybe a little shopping to show off your fit and fabulous bod?

Kiki and Bridget: Just want you to know i'm thinking about you!

Katie

Katie:: Yes my DS was amazing for the ride home. He NEVER complained!!!! :D We ALL loved the parks. We hit all of Universal and all of Disney. Awesome time even though it was like being cooked in an oven all day from the crazy heat! LOL re my warm up-it's simple quick and gets the job done. Works for me. You should try it! ;) Yup, the Ab Nazi is back so no skippin' out on the ab work, ya hear!?! Sorry you are tired. It happens. Maybe an extra rest day is an order this week?

Kris:: Good job on Disc 33! Way to rock it! :D

Hi there,

This a.m. I did Imax 2 Premix - intervals 1-5. Really struggled with it - still with a cough and snuffling - I don't know how it's impacting my tolerance for cardio especially, but I'm not liking it. I ended up going to the MD this afternoon, tired of this cough (so tired of it), he thinks it's an allergy issue following a cold or something initially -so he gave me some Flonase and recommended some type of sudafed or mucinex and hopefully it will help... Tomorrow is a rest day for me, hoping I feel much better when I take on cardio and STS Saturday:)

Hi Wendy - glad you had fun at the parks! And what an awesome DS! :) Glad you're home safe and sound - great workout too!

Hi Katie - Sorry you had a tired day! Awesome job getting in that workout though - sounds tough - I don't think I'd make it through that long of a workout on a tired day... Great job! Yep, headed into the last week of Meso 3, can't believe it! I know what you mean when you said how proud you were of yourself for finishing the program:) I'm not sure how I'll celebrate - I will figure that out this week for sure:)

Hi Bridget and Kiki - calm, well wishes for you both. :)

Have a great night - so glad for Friday and a long weekend!

Kris

Good morning! No workout for me today - it's my rest day (thank goodness). I'm heading to Columbus, OH this weekend for the first Ohio State football game of the season! SO EXCITED! Yup, i'm an Ohio State football fan - don't hate me! :p I just love football season and I apologize if I talk about it constantly over the next 4-5 months. :D

Wendy: I'm so glad to hear you all had a great time!!!! Did you go to Harry Potter world at Universal? I'm a huge HP fan and finally got to go see it last October. I'm going to be a trooper and try your quick and easy (maybe?) warm up tomorrow morning before the game (i'm hoping to sneak in a quick 30 minute interval workout on the treadmill at the hotel gym before heading over to the stadium). I'll let you know if I survive! ;) :p

Kris: Awww I hate that you're feeling bad. I have awful fall allergies so I hear ya on the snuffling and coughing. I think that's what is getting me down too. :( Not likin' it one bit! I really struggled with the long workout yesterday. Actually, I was so out of it I dropped a ten pound dumbbell, barely missing my foot - it put a hole in my mat. I quickly switched to lighter weights for the rest of the workout! I say if you're still feeling bad on Saturday you should take another rest day (maybe I should take my own advice - haha).

Hey ladies

Another quick post. I've been getting in w/o's and the Achilles is getting better (I'm also getting better at finding ways around it, lol). We awoke on Tuesday to no power  I suppose it was knocked out somehow while trying to fix other areas? IDK, but we were back up and powered by the end of the day, so that was a relief. The only thing that is NOT a relief, is that although we have power, many places still do not (grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, libraries, etc..), so it's still a bit of a dilemma. (Like yesterday was our Anniversary, but there was nowhere to go, lol)

I've been able to get in more and more elliptical w/o's for cardio, and I had such a genius idea yesterday that I felt like an idiot for not thinking of it sooner, lol. We have a full blown weight bench set that has features like lat pull-down cable, bench press/squat rack, etc. But because I've gotten so used to doing DVD's I'd come to ignore the other features of it, like the leg extension/hamstring curl apparatus. DUH! LOL So I decided to rediscover it yesterday while attempting a full body workout, and subbing in those exercises for the lunges/leg presses and such (using ME as my w/o), and when I went to stand up from watching a movie later that night...tada!!!! Leg DOMS  Slightly unfamiliar to me now, but oh, so welcome :D . I was so excited (DH rolled his eyes as I gave him all the aforementioned info, but I knew ya'll would appreciate it ;) )

Speaking of DH, he's on his last w/o of M1 and looking forward to his recovery week next week! I'm pretty proud of him, as I honestly had doubts that he'd even get that far  . I suppose we'll see what happens after next week (even he is a bit scared that he'll lose the momentum his picked up - but he's looking forward to M2, and so happy the "Endurance" phase is over, lol) And ladies...if I do say so myself...he is shaping up quite nicely   ;)

Morning Ladies.

This moring's work out was a BR dated 6/28. It was short but OMG was it hard!!!!:eek::eek:

Katie, Nope. I passed on HP bc it sounded too intense for me. Glad I did too cause my DH said I probably would NOT have been happy. Phew! Today's warm up was a wee bit different. I alternated 25 jumps with 25 jacks for 100 reps total. So you are a football fan? Hmmmm...I might have to re-think our friendship then!...Just kidding!:p:D;) As you can see I am NOT a football fan. ICK! Sorry-.

Kris, Don't even worry about this morning's work out! You'll be 100% and back to kickin' serious butt in no time girl! :D

Kiki, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!! Good job finding a way to bring back the leg DOMS while your achillies is healing! Good deal! Yup-we sure DO appreciate that story! You know it! :)

Well we are heading to the casinos for the weekend. I leave work at 12:15. Home by 1:00. Finish packing and hit the road! WOOT! Back on Monday. I may check in from my phone before that but not sure so y'all have a great w/e if I don't come back before it's over!!! Any holiday cook outs on the schedule? :)

We have power! It has been an interesting week here- we are fortunate to have power back, not all the neighborhoods in the area do though, and like Kiki, we have some businesses open, some stores- gas has been interesting, because the ones that are closed due to power are forcing everyone to go to the remaining stations- which are running out of gas. So glad I filled up before the storm.

Like Kris, this cold is knocking me for a loop- it is better during the day, but I have been up coughing all night- I hadn't been getting up to exercise- even go out for a walk- before work because I had been sleeping so poorly. I went to a fellow Nurse Practitioner in my practice who gave me some Robitussin with codeine- and I slept like a baby last night.

So I finally finished my final Meso 3 workout- legs, and it really kicked my a$$- I'm glad I didn't have a cheesestick before because I would have upchucked it- I skipped the final calves set- I may revisit that later today when I'm feeling stronger- I was going to try to attempt Intensity on Monday for the holiday, now I'm thinking otherwise!

Wendy- where do you live that you drove home from Disney? Are you really on the road again? Which casinos are you headed to?- I live near Foxwoods & Mohegan Sun in CT-

Katie- I'm originally from Buffalo, NY so I am a Bills fan, you can feel sorry for me. I have brothers all over the country who pay for the football package on satellite only to whine about how much they pay for the privilege of watching their team lose- sigh... I live in New England country, and refuse to become a Patriots fan.

Kris- I soooo feel your pain! I was thinking of IMAX2 on Monday as an alternative to Intensity, maybe Cardio & Weights- that is a fun one that isn't too scary. I need something to make me feel like I've accomplished something without kicking my dupa and discouraging me further.

Kiki- Happy Anniversary! So happy you found your beloved DOMS again! I'm glad the effects of the storm weren't too severe where you were. I had never seen anything like this before.

Take care all!

Bridget
