STS Body Rockers week of 10/2 :D

Ah- rest day- felt a tad bit guilty for not getting up early to workout, but ah, it's all good. WW weigh in- lost another 1.6lbs! woo hoo!

Katie- yes, I know about the unmentionables- perhaps that is an excuse for a trip to Victoria's Secret for panties that fit- the others do slide down...

Kiki- you can say you told me so, and I'm glad you did- tell me again if you need to. Will you be doing plyos in Meso 3, or the barbell-vest things? (I'm thinking they are more achilles friendly)

Kris- enjoy the DOMS!

Hi Wendy & Erin!

Bridget

Good Morning!

Yesterday was disc 2 (back/tri) & the Extended stretch. Ladies, if you only change ONE thing on your next STS round make it this: get a new band!!!! O...M...G... This was all DH's doing. When he was in M1 he decided that our band wasn't giving him enough challenge (I guess I'd grown oblivious to the fact that it had all but lost ANY elasticity, lol  ), so he stopped in @ the Ross down the street from us and purchased a new 3 pack of bands. I hadn't thought much of it until starting STS this week, and I was pretty excited about having them this time around, but I had NO IDEA what I was in for!! WOW what a difference! I had grabbed one to take on the trip w/me in case I wanted to do Travel Fit in the hotel room, but I never used it while on the trip. Man, I wish I had! I already love Travel Fit, and I bet it would have been an awesome burn w/the new band ;) But anyway, I'm loving using them w/M1, it was just the little tweak I needed ;) (plus DH is deep in M2 now, and not even using them, lol)

Bridget: down another 1.6?! WTG!! That's awesome. Maybe you will rock the scale after all? :D As for M3 Legs, thankfully I did purchase SRL a few months ago in prep for doing them this time around in addition to PL. So depending on how I'm doing by then, I may do only SRL, idk. I have a squat rack, and my barbell alone (w/o any weight) is 45lbs, so I won't be using the weighted vest (I don't even own one, actually  )

Hope ya'll have a good day! :D

Good morning!

This morning I did Plyo Legs (disc 26) + the Extended Stretch. I can't believe i'm saying this but I actually found plyo legs to be kinda fun! I was going to do abs after PL but my body was crying out for a stretch so I did the extended stretch instead - boy i'm glad I did because it felt great!

Kiki: Great job with Disc 2!! That new band stung a little huh? :p Okay okay - i'll get a new band! You've convinced me! ;) I've need one for awhile and keep putting it off. You're right - i'm thinking I need a little break. I may take a full rest week soon. As in, no workouts except maybe 1-2 yoga/stretch days. I guess i've never taken a true rest/no workout week because I feared if I did I would get out of the habit of working out in the mornings. I've been at this for over a year now though so I think that fear is a little unjustified. I do log my eats BUT very sporadically. My eating has been very crappy lately, so maybe that's my problem. My DH's schedule is off a bit so we aren't getting home until after 8:00 pm on M and W which means we are eating not so clean food for dinner (spaghetti, hamburger helper, BLT sandwiches). Plus the weekends have been hectic so it's a lot of grab and go. Anyway, my point is that you're right - I need to start logging my eats! :) I'll definitely check into that fitness pal option.

Bridget: Great job rocking that scale!! Watch the weight start falling off the bone. Like a perfectly cooked chicken! ;) :p Enjoy your rest day!

Hi Kris, Wendy, and Erin!

Good morning ladies!

Yesterday I did Body Max 2 (yikes!!! - hadn't done that one all the way through - 95 minutes?!? - it went really fast though, I was surprised). Today was IMAX 2 - great workout there too:)

Katie - sorry to hear you're kind of in a funk - I know what that's like. A rest week sounds like a great idea, I know what you mean about fear about not getting back into it, but we're here for you, I bet you won't have any trouble getting to it though - you'll be itching for crazy workouts by the end of the week:) Plus those new workouts ought to be coming soon - that'll remotivate us:) Great job on Plyo Legs too!

Kiki - great info on the bands - could be one of those things that happens so gradually you don't even realize - I can see that. Great job on Disc 2! Can't wait to hear all your progress with this round - will make me get back to STS soon I bet:)

Wendy - sounds like a great workout!

Bridget - Enjoy your rest week - congratulations on the weight loss!

Erin - How's the 1RM coming along?

Have a great day everyone!

Kris

Bridget-..CONGRATS ON THE WEIGHT LOSS!!!!!!!
KIKI- SO FUNNY U SAY THAT BECAUSE I JUST ORDERED NEW ONES FOR STS..HAVE TO USE WHAT CATHE DOES LOL
KATE-UMM THAT SOUNDS LIKE FUN TOURCHER=)
WENDY- LOVE HER WORK OUTS, I CALL THEM QUICK AND DIRTIES. I HAVE NO Excuse because there so short u can fit in anywhere! My husband always giggles when i say hunn i am gonna just do a quick and dirty today. lmao
KRIS- wow i just dont have that kind of attention span my is 60mins and then i am done! 1rm is mostly done have some legs left but may just jump into sts with out those. =)

HI everyone=) So got my printer finally working and am printing my cards for the next weeks start of sts=)))))))) I did most of my 5 star 1 rm but gonna start anyway. I got my one pound gloves, new bands and the red pull thingy for pulldowns. I dont have a pull up bar at home, so this was the alt. I am debating whether or not to buy more db..i dont have 12, 20, or 25's. I have 1 and 2 lb gloves to make adj to what i have 3-15. I plan only to do the first 4weeks at home and then try to take it to the gym. I dont have much room in my small apt so i am trying not to fill up my ds room=) I am just worried i wont go heavy enough d/t lack of equipment.
On another note:D I had to buy a size 4 jeans yesterday, they are strech but who cares!!! lol....... I have been weighing myself periodlicly but it does nothing but make me nutz! SO this was a welcome change. I had my second son 14m ago and have been busting butt over here trying to get back into shape!!!!! Well something is working=))))))))

Finished today's w/o this AM, did MMA Boxing, which is good for me because it's achilles friendly (minus drills of course) and has ab work, and is under an hour. Can't get any better than that

Katie: I think it's safe to say that you wouldn't veer too far after a week off. Don't think we'd let you off the hook that easily ;) I hope you do check out the fitnesspal option, at least you could log when you're away from the PC, and be accountable to others (that's the part that's whipping my bootay into shape, lol - nothing like knowing that someone other than me will be looking at my eats  ). There was a thread on here not too long ago from a Cathlete looking to add people to her MFP "friends", if you decide you're interested in letting others in on your crappy eating, lol (perk: you will also see our crappy eating, lol...there's actually an ongoing debate right now about how to shut out the nightly cookie monster that keeps sneaking in some ladies homes and showing up on their food diary, :p )

Kris: Yes girl, get the bands! I would have never thought it would make that big of a difference, but OH...MY...WORD! Even grabbing the very tip of the band, and only having it around ONE foot, I could not get full extension on the T's and Y's, I can't believe how challenging it was. Also, I used to think that the low band row pull thing (where you're standing w/the band under your foot, and sorta sit in a squat position, grabbing the band near your feet, and start rowing) was a waste of time, lol, because no matter how close I grabbed to my feet, I still didn't feel anything....whew, felt that one for the first time...

Erin: Congrats on shrinking (stretch jeans count, it's ALL good) ;) And as for the 1rm's & legs....Ima just be honest and say, I didn't do most of 'em either, lol. Not even 1/4. I was so afraid of my legs bulking that I was determined during my first 2 rounds of STS to keep the weights on leg day as light as possible, and then did Plyo Legs for M3. But I finally bit the bullet this summer and purchased Squat Rack Legs for this round, and I will be going a bit heavier on legs. Just to be safe, though, I scheduled this round for winter (as I usually do w/STS, so that I can just "cover up and train" - my winter w/o motto ;) )

Happy Friday!

I usually rest on Fridays but i'm taking tomorrow off to attend the "Incredible Food Show" with the mom and sister.
Incredible Food Show I went last year and it was loads of fun! This morning I did 4DS: Kickboxing (cardio only) + LIC: Upper Body Sculpt premix (no warm-up but added abs). Apparently, according to my schedule I was supposed to do 4DS: BC cardio but I "accidentally" clicked on the KB cardio. Oops. :D

Kiki: Hehe - i'm sure if I take a true rest week i'll need a good kick in the pants to back in the game. I'm looking forward to that. ;) I'm going to take a look at the thread today re: MFP. Good thing i'm starting after this weekend! It would take me 20 pages to list all the "nibbles" i'm sure to have tomorrow. :D

Erin: It sounds like you are nice and prepared to start STS. Get excited! I agree with Kiki that completing all your 1RMs isn't really necessary but definitely keep track of the weight you use so you can insert it into the workout manager for the next week. Depending on your starting point, you might need 12 lbs dumbbells for Meso 1. Just see how it goes though. I got through all of Meso 1 with dumbbells ranging from 3 1lbs - 15 lbs but quickly found once I got to Meso 2 I needed heavier (especially for legs).

Kris: I bow down to the BM2 queen! :p Way to go knocking that one out of the park! I'm exhausted just thinking about doing BM2 in its entirety! I've got my fingers crossed the new workouts rejuvenate me! Have you noticed push-ups are starring in many of the workouts though? EEK!! These new workouts are so going to kick our butts! ;)

Wendy: Great mish-mosh yesterday! Okay, well not really a mish-mosh. You know what I mean! :) It wasn't looking to awful bad until the "then repeat" at the end. That's when things started getting a little crazy. :p Keep up the good work!!!

Good Morning Ladies and TGIF!

Today ended up being a rest day. I decided to sleep an extra 90 mins at the last minute this morning so no work out for me. It's okay though cause my weigh in made me happy....Down 1.2# this week! :D I am not really trying to lose. Just trying to stay within a 2# range that I set for myself and as of today I am on the lower end of it so yay! ;)

Katie:: Was that click on KB instead of BC cardio really an accident??? Come on! Be honest! ;):p Oh and between you and me, I had the same exact reaction when I was reading the instructions for y'day's BR work out. It wasn't so bad til I got to the bottom and saw "and then repeat one more time"...WHAT!?!?! LOL

Kiki:: I love MMA Boxing! Great choice! ;)

Erin:: Congrats on the new smaller jeans! Love that! :D Too funny about the quick n dirty work outs. Very true though! They are short but man oh man do they pack a wallop!!!

Kris:: Great job with BM2! Wow. I think I did that w/o in full maybe ONE time! LOL Ever do the double upper body premix? It's uber tough!

TGIF!

Today was disc 3 - Legs. Ummm, new bands + firewalkers = !! I'm SO gonna feel that one tomorrow, possibly tonight  , also threw in the Extended Stretch for good measure (can't be too careful w/ Ms. Achilles :( )

Katie: I think I've "accidentally" clicked on KB instead of BC before, too, ;). Think I just naturally gravitate to KB w/o's  That food festival sounds like heaven! Can't say I'd wanna log that one either, lol...or if I'd even know where to begin . I think I might be having one of those nonstop nibble days here, soon, too. DH has gotten it drilled in his brain that he's gonna "bulk" this winter w/me....ummm I think our versions are a tad different (his= eat everything in sight w/ no limits, mine= healthily/carefully up cals to allow for maximum muscle building, being careful to cut back the minute my clothes get uncomfortable). I do fine during the week, when he's at work, but on the weekends....

Wendy: we're posting at the same time ;). Congrats on even more weight loss, that scale (and WW& BR!) are really treating you right these days!

Yeah Kiki they are being good to me and I'm not complaining! :D What's wierd though is in September I was worried cause the scale was up beyond goal pretty steadily for a while. It wasn't much most of the time but it worried me b/c it was constant and that's how trouble starts! IDK what happened there but once it started to drop off it wasted no time! :D Firewalkers! OMG I miss those crazy burners! Walking lunges too! I am going to have throw some into my routine here and there just for fun! ;) LOL

Still resting on my rest days- how sweet it is!

Wendy- rest with me today! Congrats on maintaining within your goal weight- I hope to join you there soon

Katie- I fear the pushups too. I saw that in the previews for the new workouts and swallowed hard. I have yet to do a set on my toes.

Kiki- I have the 3 pack of bands from cathe.com- the pink is the light, the green the medium, and the blue high. I wimped out through the first 2 meso's of STS with the pink band- not worthy of the green. Now that I can do 15lb flies, perhaps I will try the green again. Maybe I'll pack it with me for conference next week

Kris- I know I've said this before, but I love body max- 1&2!

Erin- I learned very important things on this board while doing STS that were integral to my success. Things like-

arrange the legs workout on a Saturday, and take the rest day after to recover before starting again- this was especially helpful in meso 3

in meso 3- when jumping on and off the step- use less than 4 risers on the bench. This kept me out of urgent care.

in meso 2- really push the leg weights

don't skimp on the cardio

love the rest periods whenever they come, drink, towel off, stretch. Sometimes I even tidy up my house, rotate my laundry- etc...

These are what comes to mind now, I'm sure I'll think of more later.
Have a great day all!

Bridget

Hi there everyone,

I did SJP this a.m. - I like that one:) Great workout, have to say I'm ready for a rest day too, but "saving" it for Sunday this week - so will be 11 days in a row of workouts (and no slack days really - yay me). I've been doing some measurements periodically and happy to report a steady (if slow) decrease in numbers there even if the scale has been pretty stable:) Woohoo!

Bridget - great advice on STS for Erin (and reminders for me for next round) Thanks! Enjoy your rest - you deserve it!

Wendy - enjoy your rest day! Great job on the weight loss too! Woohoo, go you!

Kiki - great job on Disc 3! I got new bands when I started STS too - I'm like Erin - have to use what Cathe uses

Erin - sooo close to starting STS  - you'll love it no doubt! I wouldn't stress either about the 1RMs, I did them, but didn't probably have heavy enough weights to do them right, so I had to adjust as I went anyway.

Katie - Great job on 4DS KB! And the Incredible Food Show sounds spectacular! Have fun! I noticed those pushups in the new series too - yikes, it's definitely going to kick our butts:) And remotivate us! Hopefully, they'll arrive right about the time I finish up the July 2010 rotation! Thanks again for recommending that, I think it's a great rotation for me right now - just what I needed to shock my body for sure.

Have a great night everyone,

Kris

bridget- Thanks for that great info!!!
kris- I am really excited for tomorrow and prob will adjust just like u=)

Good morning everyone,

Rhythmic Step this a.m. - done:) (well, gotta be honest, did my own thing during the challenge at the end because I'm choreographically challenged , couldn't follow it and my HR was getting low)

Erin - your schedule sounds like a great plan! I didn't realize you were an RN, I am too! :) And Bridget is a Nurse practitioner! I understand about the 12 hour shifts!

Hope you all have a great day!

Kris

Hey Ladies.

Today's work out was UGI w/o # 5 (legs/core focus), 80 reps of each of the following: firewalkers, walking lunges, inner thigh lifts per leg, glute squeezes, and last but not least-12 minutes of jump rope intervals (10 s rest/50 s work). Good stuff. With any luck I'll have sore glutes tmrw! ;)

Getting ready to take DS to the park. Gorgeous day out there! Happy Saturday!

BBITAM!

Erin: my db and bb collection are both adjustable only (allows me to go extremely heavy, which I like, but can be a pain in the butt during faster paced Meso 1). I have two bb's: one curl bar (the kind w/bent areas for easier hand placement during bicep curls) & one that's Olympic sized that goes w/my bench press/squat rack. The Olympic one weighs 45 lbs w/o any additional weight and is the one that I use most frequently. The weight plates that go with the Olympic bb total 300 lbs. The weight plates that go with the curl bar are also interchangeable w/my db bars, & those weight total 80 lbs. So basically my db range is 3-40 lbs (if using both db's @ same time), my curl bb range is 5-80, & my bb (for bench press/squats/deadlifts, etc - and biceps during meso 3) is 45-300 lbs.

Was that confusing enough for ya, lol :p ?

kiki wow thats impressive!!!!!!!!
Ok first sts work out done.. felt a little all over the place. And so week not sure why. But i could not keep up with all those push ups! My upper body is def my week spot. But lets see how far i will go:) Took my pics and up loaded them to work out manager to my measurements. I hope to see some tighting up! OF course my eats will be clean execept for my one cheat day. cooking today for the week, red lentil soup with turkey sau, red onion and spinach, chicken drumsticks with ww bread crumbs, lean steak, brussel sprouts and maybe some brown rice. k off to start =)
