-->(@:STS 6 Month Alumni-Week of May 23:@)<--

Just putting us back on the front page!;)

We are diligently working on getting the ceiling finished and then we have my nieces last soft ball game tonight! They are undefeated! This is her favorite sport that she is in and she is in all of them so it should be fun to see her strut her stuff!

Better go...Duty Calls!

Thanks for the soup recipe Jo. It looks like a good one to make and freeze!

Finished my Insanity workout for the day, DH did it with me. It was nice to have company. He's been running quite a bit but it's not very nice out so he joined me. DS phoned at bedtime last night, he had a good day. It sounded very busy, starting with a 3 hr bus ride, then they played a concert, went for a walk/shopping around town (it's a resort area), dinner cruise around the lake, then swimming at the hotel.:D:D I'm sure glad I"m not a teacher! Can you imagine how tired these teachers must be! Looking forward to a phone call tonight!

So all my coworkers have looked at my kitchen plans, and I have decided to add two extra large drawers to replace a cupboard and some racks for cookie sheets/cutting boards, etc. Unless the price is crazy we'll switch to maple. So looking forward to going into tomorrow and getting that wrapped up.

The weekend is supposed to be terrible weather! Our plan was to getting lots of yardwork done like planting flowers, weeding the garden, taking down Christmas lights:eek:, washing windows as we're still hoping to put the house up end of June. But with this weather but just have to relax instead:pKind of looking forward to it.

Rachael How did the baseball game go? I'll certainly post pictures once I have anything to post. We drove by the lot on Tuesday night and the hydro lines were marked which means they should start digging this week.

Jo Everyone looked great on the TBL! Koli was acting a bit strange. Michael looked wonderful, I hope he keeps going and loses the rest!
I'm enjoying the Insanity workouts, they're fun in they've little choreography, short and no equipment. It's almost like doing a 30 minute run. It's a break from lots of structure/equipment but they do get boring fast. I'll do the 8 weeks unless something happens but I couldn't do them indefinetly.

Rachael, did you sign up for the road trip?? I was just looking at the schedule, it looks like so much fun! I sure hope I get to go one day.

Good Morning Yall!

It was KPC this morning and it was another butt kicker! Have you ever started a workout and did not feel like you were coordinated for that particular work out for that day? That is how it felt for me today. I had a hard time finding my rhythm.

Kim-No I did not sign up for the rt. It made me sad but but it looks like work will slow down this year and I just could not justify a trip for just me. I know you know what I mean. I am hoping she will keep these rt's up and I will be able to go one some day , too.

Jo-Sorry about the migraine. I hope it is better today. The stressful drive home for you the other day probably did not help much.

Gotta go Oatmeal's callin'

Good afternoon Yall!

Just taking a little break from staining walls to check back in.
I forgot to tell yall that my brother had the times mixed up for the game so when when drove out last night they had already been playing for an hr. We got to see the last 15 min. or so. At least we did get to see my niece up to bat. She got walked but she stole 2 bases! I think she wanted to show us something since she did not get to hit!LOL I had to call my brother (since he was at work) and give him a little heck about it...not too much though since these things happen! Kim, I thought about the spat you and your sisters were in about the parks and that kept me from even becoming the least bit upset. I am glad we got to see some of the game!

Well better go. I am on the downhill of the staining. I am so glad!

Hi Girls,

I am back! We got in last night, the trip was smooth even though it was long, but all was super smooth.

I have to confess that I never used the band or my dvds.... But I started my first day back off right by working out on the treadmill and adding on some abs and a stretch. It felt really good being back!

We brought more chocolate home than we know what to do with... LOL, but it's fun too because that way we can be generous with other chocolate lovers and pass around some goodies.

Jo, I'm glad your foot is feeling better. I was on anti inflammatories as well during our trip and wasn't sure if it was the pain killer or the inflammation going down, but I felt good and was able to thouroughly enjoy the trip and all our activities. It's funny how you said you wanted to help your mom with some chores and things and she wouldn't let you. That's exactly how it was with me at my mom's house! She even wanted to do all our laundry the day before we took off to save us the laundry work at home... I in turn would not let her do that. Third load of laundry is finishing up right now and I have already menu planned and shopped for the week. Feels like I hit the ground running here too. But it's nice to have things in order. Guess what I saw at Costco when I went to get more foood? My blender that I had to order online because Costco did not have it before christmas when I was looking! I asked the guy where he had been and he insisted he was there during christmas.... Oh well, must have been after I stopped looking! And anyway, I got a better deal online so I don't really care. I just thought it was funny.

Rachel, I am impressed with your patience with the stain experiments, I would not have the patience for that! I am so glad your hard job is over and you are able to take it a bit easier for a while. I completely understand about the Cathe roadtrip. I was sad I couldn't go either, but I would not have been able to do much anyway since I was still in bad shape during the roadtrip. But like you and probably any other cathe fan out there I hope she keeps the roadtrips up even though I know this must be hard on her family!

Kim, I felt tired hearing about all the work that needed to be done at the cottage, but it sounded like you guys all enjoyed yourselves anyway. It's nice that you and your one sister are able to deal with your other sister together. Sometimes it really helps to have another 'likeminded' person to validate that we really are not that bad. My oldest brother during our visit started really taking on some parenting roles with our kids that bugged me. He has always had a lack of sense of boundaries but it really bugged me this time because it was daily, so I finally said something, and in my opinion nicely. But he got really offended and acted like I was the one off the top.... Family.... Always something going on, isn't there?

Well, I will sign off for now, but I will check in regularly again now that I'm back.

SO glad that your trip went smoothly! Isn't it nice to be home and back in a routine? Do you think that once things settle down we'll see some pictures:D

Jo, hope you're feeling better soon!

Rachael I now what you mean about not feeling coordinated some days. At least you got to see some of the game. Mistakes happen, it's good to keep things in perspective

You're probably sick of hearing about my kitchen. We changed to a stained maple, it was cheaper than we thought. The same wood will be thoughtout the house eg. fireplace mantle, railings etc so it all matches. I also ordered vertical dividers for one cupboard and 2 large pot and pan cupboards. It was good seeing our choices again, I feel more reassured about it all.

DS is home!!!! SO good to have him back. He said he had a good trip but is glad to be home.

Good to have you back, Cendrine!!!!!

Well all but for the polyurethane the walls are complete! Now DH can trim everything when we figure out what we are going to do with that! LOL Can you tell we are kind of a plan as we go kind of people. I do not know what I would do if I had to plan so far in advance like you have to , Kim! At least it sounds like you have some good help though!

Kim-For the record, I am never going to get tired of hearing about your kitchen! I dream of a new kitchen and with every detail, I am living through yours. I am glad that ds made it back and it sounds like you are too!;)

Cendrine-Too bad we are not next door neighbors so you can share your chocolate with me!:D I would sure take that off your hands for you! Aren't you glad you cleaned house before you left so you got to come home to a clean house. It really does sound like you came back refreshed and ready to get back to a schedule! Are the kids doing any kind of summer school or are you done for the school year?

Jo- You not checking in today can only mean that you still might not feel well or that you have to catch up from not feeling well yesterday! In any case I am thinking about you today! Hope it is the latter of the two!

I am off to watch some episodes of True Blood! Totally a guilty pleasure!

Good Saturday!

I hope everyone is having the weekend they want...be it relaxing or action packed:D

Today it was a crazy workout! First Power Hour (which I guess I have not done except for the FiTV version...big difference!) and then 40/20! Some of those for me were more like 32 or 35/20!:p I am not going to worry about it cause I was giving it everything till I couldn't anymore! Kim, I know I am starting to sound like a broken record but you were so right about how tough this one is. Was it me that said the March rotation looked like fun? LOL

Well today is hair day. Got to cover the gray so I can stay looking as young as I feel! It would be better if my hair guy didn't look at my gray hair everytime with a look of horror! LOL Good thing he does good hair or I might get offended!

Last night we ended up watching The Fantastic Mr. Fox...I wasn't going to get this one from netflix but I ended up thinking it was very cute. Have yall seen it?

Again with the oatmeal!:D

Rachel

Oh yea , on my way home I am getting the rest of the ings. for the soup Jo...I am looking so forward to it!

It's hair day for me too Rachael! Got my Insanity workout done, it was the cardio recovery so not so bad. I'm finished 2 weeks now of Insanity. It's 4 weeks plus a recovery week then another 4 weeks. I think I will try and finish the rotation if possible. I hate the feeling of quitting things.

DD has her piano recital today:D She's going to get a trophy for practising everyday. After 6 years of piano lessons, it's the first year she did that and it was totally by choice. She worked hard this year. She's very excited as she's never had a trophy and her brother has lots. Did I tell you that he got MVP for his hockey team this year?

Hi Guys,

jet lag is running its course at our house....
I hope it is not going to take us as long to get used to it as it did in Switzerland... I have just finished ironing and folding and putting away all the laundry, now I think I 'm going to relax and maybe I can upload a few pictures for you guys from our trip!

Kim, your kitchen will looks so beautiful! I'm glad you feel good about it. I have a hard time deciding and once I do I keep wondering if I chose right... How nice for your dd to get recognized with a trophy! I'm really impressed with you for doing Insanity! I don't think I would be able to do it. How is the clean eating coming and are you able to do better on insanity because your meds have kicked in for the thyroid?

Rachel, sounds like you are feeling the month of less workout time... Me too! I am feeling sore in my abs today... and my triceps are sore from one of the ab moves that needed support from the triceps.... Better do something about that. Sore arms from an ab segment....!!!

Jo, I hope your migraine is gone and you can enjoy the weekend. It is beautiful weather here, I'm quickly getting used to it being nice every day, as opposed to the constant changes in Switzerland... I am going to do some juicing with my blender this week to help me flush out all the not so clean food we splurged on while gone. I have a lot of juice recipes but not too many that include leafy greens. Would you mind sending me some of your favorites? Here's a recipe using Garam Masala, if you are interested, just came across it today:

Healthy Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Prep and Cook Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:

2 medium-sized sweet potatoes or yams, sliced thin for quick cooking
2 TBS fresh orange juice
½ tsp garam masala
1 TBS extra virgin olive oil
salt and white pepper to taste

Directions:
Bring lightly salted water to a boil in a steamer with a tight fitting lid.
Steam peeled and sliced sweet potatoes in steamer basket, covered, for about 10 minutes, or until tender
When tender, mash with potato masher, adding rest of ingredients. Serves 4
Healthy Cooking Tips:

If you do not have sensitivity to fats, an extra TBS olive oil will give it a richer taste.

Oh, and when did CE magazine get in? We got all our mail yesterday and I only simmed it. Have you tried any of the recipes yet? Hopefully I'll have some more time looking it over today to start planning some for next week.

I'll try to be back later with some pics!
