<---***STS 6 Month Alumni***---> Week of June 27

Hump Day Yeeeaaaahhhh!

I just found out yesterday that we are getting a three day weekend! The church will be shut down on Monday because they are having a huge thing all weekend for the 4th so we are getting Monday off too! Yippeeeee!

Today I did disc 37 meso 3 legs as per fitness freaks regime. I haven't done the squat rack workouts in a long time. The very first squat I felt like my back pulled a little...I think it was because I was not prepared for the weight I picked. I decided to lower a bit from what my workout card said and after that I could really concentrate on form. I think I really needed this workout. It seems like I have been doing the same types of workouts for a while and it is definitely time for a change...So Great workout today!

Cendrine-No sleep and then having to go be patient...You are my HERO! lol I hope that the stomach cramps are better. Last thing you need is 2 nights of no sleep this week.
All the things the kids are getting to do sound like so much fun. It is great that the boy scouts are still around in this day and age...Most kids seem to be more interested in staying inside and playing video games.

Jo-Your gym sounds so great. I was looking at a schedule for a gym about 20 min from the house and it did not seem to offer that big of a variety of classes each day. Instead it would be yoga one day and then something else the next and so on. I would love a gym that offered every thing fairly regular so if I felt like taking a yoga class that day , I could.
It will be neat to hear how the new gf progresses through the next couple of weeks.
I think you are the QUEEN of cardioland! LOL

Kim hope all is great!

Better go brush my teeth!

No work today, I'm on a 5 day weekend! July 1st is Canada Day and as the schedule worked out I had Wednesday and Friday off. We're going to take the camper to my Mom's cottage from Thurs-Sunday but DH has to drive back in the city to work on Friday. The whole family will be there so 13 of us so hope everyone gets along!

Kids have school this morning and then they are done! I'm going to try and get groceries/do my workout (15 left!) while they are at school. Then we might do something fun after but not sure what.

Jo Yippee! On the 3 day weekend! I'm glad that you're going to rest your arm. It is hard advice to follow sometimes. Good workout this morning!

Cendrine I'm glad that you got a good group of kids sure makes the week easier. Hope you got a good night's sleep last night and are ready to go today. I bet you'll need the extra sleep by Friday morning rather than a workout;) Good for you for hitting the target, how did the kids do?

Jo I'm interested to hear how the new"client" does. People often start workout programs with such enthusiasm. Did you watch Jillian's show last night? It was a good one. A co worker is leaving tomorrow for a vacation around the Vancouver area and was complaining about the weather forecast! Still cool and rainy for the next week:(:(

I was looking at Cathe's itininary for the roadtrip to NJ, looks like fun I sure hope I get to go one year.

Hi hi! For some reason I've had problems accessing this site today. There must be lots of people on Cathe! :p I'm off to the sinus Dr for my follow-up so will catch-up with you all later! Just wanted to say Hello!

Ouch!! I think that will probably be what I am saying when I set on the toilet in the morning! LOL My thighs are already achy so I think I am in for it...Then I have disc 3 meso 1 legs on Saturday! THis should be interesting!

We got home late today and of course I was starving so I wanted something right when I walked in the door and that ended up being granola:eek: I love that stuff but I am not sure if it is the right dinner option..haha Oh well tomorrow is another day and tomorrow night is another dinner.

Kim-Lucky dog! :p 5 days off and the summer cottage sound great! It must be really nice that the whole family gets together like that. I would love it if we had more family get togethers but it seems like everyones either busy or fighting around here. Of course I am a Libra so I am always trying to smooth out everyone's feathers but that doesn't always work!

Jo-How was the Dr's appt? I hope you got some more info that maybe you had not heard before.

Cendrine-Hope today was better and more rested.

Well seeing as how I was sleeping so hard this morning that my alarm clock scared the bejesus out of me this morning, I am going to hit the hay early.
Have a great night.

Kim, have fun at the cottage! How nice to be off for that long! And congrats, down to 15 insanity....LOL!
The kids do pretty well at archery, I'm impressed being as little they are and how big the bows are and all...
Ds lost it yesterday when they had this huge catalpult (which he is crazy about) launching balls accross the field. They told the kids they would all get to launch one, but ran out of time and ds happened to be the cutoff so he didn't get to do it. He was very upset which was even more bad because of his lack of sleep... But the guy told him that next year at some boyscout function he should remind him of yesterday and he would let him launch it twice... Pretty good deal if you ask me but ds didn't like it, he wanted what he wanted now.... I had a talk with him about being a good camper and focusing on what he does get to do rather than the one thing that he didn't get to do.... And I'm glad to say he did really well today.
Today is the first day the sun came out. I had a sunscreen issue where the sunscreen somehow has a way of traveling up into my eyes, even though I only reapplied on my cheeks, so that made my eyes water and I was extra tired on top of getting up 4 more times last night because of my stomach... I hope it stops soon! So I will be going to bed early again today. I can tell I'm starting to feel the stress of no downtime, as I was eating and craving sweets after dinner for the first time in weeks.... Two more days....

Jo, you are the cardio queen of queens! Nice work! I'm glad your friend is joining and had a good first day. Hopefully she will be able to work up to spinning with you guys soon!

Rachel, good for you for the 3 day weekend! And granola is a perfectly acceptable dinner, you have it for breakfast, so why wouldn't it be ok for dinner? As long as I add some fruit and yoghurt, I always consider it a fine meal even if it does taste more like dessert...;) i'm also commending you for lowering your squatrack weight, good girl for listening to your body!

Well, I gotta go rest up!

Hi Everyone! Well not much to report from the Dr. Because of my history, he wants to make sure my infection is gone, so took another culture...I think he just likes sticking instruments up my nose!! LOL! ;) So since that was an unplanned very SHORT visit, instead of going back to work, I went to the gym and did Cardio Coach volume V3 (fast walking/power walking/inclines on TM). I wanted to test out my heel, but I didn't want to overdo since tomorrow is Resort night. :p

Rachel, ooohhh, me legs are hurting for you already! Glad you have a long weekend! I don't know that granola is that BAD for dinner...I think it's better than Carl Jr! ;) I know I'm very lucky about my gym which is why I joined it. They offer yoga, RPM Cycling (my spin), regular cycling, BodyPump and water aerobics every day! Then the other classes are more sporadic. I think they offer something like 80 classes a week. Crazy huh?

Kim, you have a FABULOUS time! I'll keep my fingers crossed you all get along! LOL! :D Yes, I watched Jillian and I agree, it was good! Maybe one of the best ones yet. Oh and yeah, we'll probably being wearing jackets on the 4th...boohoo...but hope it changes! Hope your co-worker enjoys themselves regardless!

Cendrine, oh your poor little guy! :( I know he must have been so disappointed but I know you did the right thing of giving him the good camper talk. Holy Cow! Are you starting to count down the days like Kim is counting down Insanity? Suncreen in the eyes?! Yep, it's time for this week to be over for you! ;) I'm feeling your pain!

Okay, last thing. Since we never did make a decision about the 4th...guess what we're doing? NOTHING! Actually we haven't been home on the 4th in 6 or 7 years. Anyway, since I'd already planned to be off, I decided I'm going to take Friday off and then all next week and I'm going to get some stuff DONE around here! (I might go take some morning classes at the gym :D). Alright, time for bed! Hope you all have a great day tomorrow!

Got up early and did Insanity. I really didn't want to as it was the 7th day in a row and my body is tired and it's a holiday so I was quite proud of myself for doing it. Looking forward to 2 recovery days but we always stay active at the lake. Going to eat, shower and get going. Hope to be at the lake for a late lunch. It's going to be hot! Is 30Celsius considered hot?

SOrry I'll catch up on personals when I get back, the family is waiting on me to get going.

Kim, you have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious time!!! 30 C is about 88ish F so that's warm enough! Hope it stays that way for you and everyone has a great time!

Not much going on yet today. I'm just having my coffee and breakfast. Resort Night tonight - YIPPEEE!!!! I did want to give you guys body report: mysterious bump on top of my left foot is now gone! Yay! My heel is about 50% better, only certain things bother it but I know I'll need another shot. Bottom-line, I can live with it! ;) My arm has already improved. I've been icing and can move it into certain positions I couldn't do the other day, but I can tell it's still going to take a little time. And now that it doesn't hurt as much, I can tell more that I do believe the problem is more related to shoulder and less tricep. It feels like the south end of the anterior deltoid right where the bicep, tricep and shoulder all kind of come together. But I've noticed certain movements cause the pain up higher on the shoulder which is why I'm thinking it's deltoid. Oh, and I've started some very light stretches with it. Okay enough body talk! Everything else seems to be good, no sinus issue today, no headache, and I'm ready for more CARDIO!!!!! Yipppeeeee!!!!

Rachel, hope you're day is great!

Cendrine, hope you got sleep last night! You may not want to get than Friday morning workout in!

Kim, Happy Canada Day!

Talk to you guys later!

Hey guys!
Sorry no check in this morning but my internet was so slow I thought as soon as I type a good long message it would take so long to submit it that I would lose it. It's better now. I guess one of those freak things...

Now it's my turn to do a body report:p
I know my arm is a lot better but when I do certain things at work, it lets me know it is still too early to think it is healed...but luckily the soreness in the elbow is all gone. Now it only hurts under stress so I think I will be good after next week on that one. The bad news is , though, that the back thing I felt yesterday on my first set of squats seems to have turned into a thing. It is kind of soreness..not a twingey type pain so I am thinking it is like a muscle spasm. I had a little of the same pain yesterday at work but thought I had worked it out but this morning when I was doing step moves I landed on a jump and there it was and it has been sore ever since. SO I am thinking it is going to be stretching and resting for the rest of the week. I think another thing that made the back so exaggerated was that my thighs are so sore from yesterdays workout that it was hard to rely on them to help me up off the floor all day!

Cendrine-So I listened to my body but it was a little too late I guess but I am listening now. I think I need a real break. We have not been on vacation in so long so I have not taken any significant days off in a row and I think my body is trying to tell me. So I am going to take a little rest now and after the reunion I will take a good solid week at least if not more. Just stretching and taking it easy.
I see what you mean on the granola...it just seems like such a treat that it always seems indulgent to me.

Jo-But nothing like the Carl' Jr:D:p You sound like you are healing up quite nicely...We are a pair huh..LOL
I know you are going to have a great week off even if you don't do a thing or go anywhere. We are not doing too much around here either. WHat did yall normally do for the fourth?
DH does want me to make homemade ice cream though!

Kim-Have a great time!

Kim, I can't speak for the texans in this group but for me 30°C is considered hot, in fact I am amazed that you guys even get temperatures that hot! Enjoy them while you can! We've had pretty mild weather all camp week, between 68 and 76 °F so it wasn't so bad to be out all day, I can't imagine what it would have been like with real summer temps....! Only tomorrow left for camp and it doesn't start till 12:30! I am sleeping in until the kids come get me! Last night I was asleep by 7:30 ! And at 5 am dh said that the cat came and meowed right in his face to get him up and when that didn't work she walked on me and meowed in my face: I didn't catch any of that! So I am glad I had a good nights sleep! I sure needed it. There are about 3 boys that bicker almost nonstop anywhere where there is a line to be had or a competition to be won and it gets so tiring! Where is the off button when you need it! I feel bad for all the calm, sweet and quiet boys but I am also proud of them for not pushing, shoving and arguing back! There are some strong good characters in this group to not pay it back the same!

Jo, I am glad to hear you are healing up nicely and all that cardio makes me want to come join you! I still want to work out tomorrow, but I am going to give myself the option to decide tomorrow. We are not doing anything for the 4th either. Just recovering from camp will suit me fine! LOL!

Rachel, sorry about your back! is it the lower back portion you are feeling? It may help to do the pilates abs circuit with modifications whereever you need to have your legs out straight, that helps me get the muscles feel better. (just bend your knees instead of have them out straight and have them higher rather than lower when appropriate, it gives the lower back a break. I hope the rest and stretch will help you recover quickly, like I said, listening to your body now even with the reunion coming up, will pay off! I find something always comes up right when I want to look my best, isn't it canny how that happens?

Well, off to more sleep!

Yes Cendrine...It always seems to happen that way! I don't think I have to worry about it too much though because I still look 100 times better than what people are expecting...esp. since I was the goth girl who always set out in P.E. and smoked:eek:! I do not even know who that person was now! It is crazy how much you can change in a short amount of time isn't it!

This morning I did the p90 stretch. The p90's are the only things I have on dvd and can do in my weight room. I am really going to have to start shopping for some good pilattes workouts and yoga too for that matter. Sometimes I rolle my eyes at the tv when Tony is talking! LOL

Cendrine-I hate that you have some bickery boys but all in all it sounds like it was a great experience.
Your cat sounds so much like mine. She lightly scratches the curtains to get dh up in the morning to feed her. What is weird is there is not a mark on the curtains. I do not know how she does that. The bad part is that somehow her schedule has changed and she is waking him up at 2 and 3 o clock.

Jo you must have had a great resort night;)

Better go!

You guys...I'm sitting in bed with my coffee and my laptop starting my week (10 days) of leisure! Does it get any better than this? LOL! ;);)

It should be a crime to have as much fun as I do at the gym! Last night was no exception. My two regular gals got stuck at work so had to blow me off for the night but new GF was there and light load of people at the gym. So spinning was GREAT! There was only 8 people in the class. Peter was in rare form and worked our A$$es off (how I like it!). So new GF came at 6 to go to yoga. She snuck into my spinning during the cool down to let me know she was there, so while she was at yoga I went and did abs and stretched and had an apple, snap peas and nuts for a snack. Then she met me down for water aerobics (I say down as yoga, spinning and womens locker is on the 2nd floor). There was only 4 people in water aerobics so it was much more intimate and mucho fun! We did intervals and used the kick boards, etc. I love that class; it is such a great follow-up class to spinning.

Then I came home and DH said some friends of ours called that are camping and want us to come down either tonight or tomorrow night. So we're going tomorrow morning just for one night and take our kayaks. So I'll be gone tomorrow and back late Sunday night. That'll be fun as I haven't camped in years! They have a spot right on the lake - this lake is only about 90 minutes from here. So that will be fun and then I'll get to kayak. I'll try and get DH to take a picture of me!

Whoops! I hit Submit instead of Preview....

So...Rachel, GOTH? Really? Isn't that funny? I thing we've all been different people at one time! LOL! Uggh! I'm sorry about the back issue! Gee, I do think your body is talking to you and telling you to take a rest! Good idea that you did P90 Stretch though. So where is the pain? Is it in your lower back on the side, middle, where? But glad your arm has improved! Are you continuing to ice it?

Cendrine, last day huh? Yep, sounds like you're getting your workout this week only not the way you expected! LOL! Hope you got a good night sleep last night. It'll probably take you the rest of the weekend to get back to normal! And, it is a lot of work dealing with all those challenging personalities isn't it? I got a good laugh over your "Off" button!

Okay, I'm going to get up and get something to eat. I'll BBL and let you know if I'm getting anything done! Just to let you know...it's raining! and about 57 degrees! Perfect closet weather!

Jo and Cendrine ...I tell dh everyday how cool your weather is and he thinks that is as crazy as I do! LOL I just can not imagine either of your weather conditions in July! What I would do for a 65 degree day!:D:rolleyes: I am sure you are wishing for more of my weather , Jo, maybe at least 80's anyhow. It would be a little nicer kayaking weather.

Sorry I forgot to say this morning that the pain was in the lower back. I know I just went too heavy and was not mentally prepared for the squat either. It is already feeling better but I do not want to chance it so I am taking the rest of the weekend and just stretching. Too bad this tends to be an indulgent weekend for us here in the south. I am just going to have to watch my p's and q's!

Jo-Have a great time..even though I think where ever you are would be a great time! The kayaking sounds like so much fun and I do hope dh will snap a quick shot of you out there. I am sure it is beautiful up there this time of yr. This will be a nice get away for yall since you are not going anywhere big...and such a nice surprise too!
And yes...Goth! LOL Except this was a little pre that era so it was actually more grunge, i.e., nirvana and pearl jam. haha I thought I was a total bad girl!NOT! LOL I think I got all that out of my system and then the real me is more who I am now. You know how defiant teens can be!

Cendrine-How was the last day of camp? It must have been busy! How was the skit?

I am off to relax ...yea ...Friday!
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Rachel

Yay, the weekend is here and the camp is done and all the boys are back in other people's hands! Whooohoooo!
Actually it was a great day, they got to start with archery, then on to making a gumball machine out of wood and nails and screws, then on to an art project, then popsicles and obstacle course and the big finale was a bottle rocket. I think everyone enjoyed themselves a lot. The skit was ok, unfortunately the soundsystem was lousy and the people loud so the boys could not be heard very well, but it was cute. The skit we ended up choosing was called five jerks on a line and it's about a guy calling another guy telling him he went fishing. Then the guy can't hear him and says they should put more poles up for the phone lines. the poles of course are more of the boys holding up the line. This goes back and forth like this until five boys are holding up the line. Then the one guy asks, so, did you have any bites. And the other guy says no, but I got five jerks on the line. they had fun doing it, but we could have done with a lot more practice...

Dh came and brought sandwiches for the picnic for all of us and the kids had a blast just being together without an agenda for a change...

Jo, your classes sound like so much fun and I am glad your new friend was there to keep up with her workouts! Kayaking sounds great! How fun! So what are your plans while you are off?

Rachel, it is supposed to get hot next week. I'll think of you when we turn on the AC! LOL! That is funny that you were so different in school! I bet everyone is going to ask you who you are! LOL! I haven't seen any of my college classmates since coming over. I wonder what everyone looks like now sometimes and all that. It is amazing how much you can chage over a relatively short period of time!

Kim, I'm sure you are keeping quite busy and are hopefully having a great time at the cottage!

I hope it only takes me a short time to recover from camp! I want to enjoy this weekend with my family and not be feeling like I need more rest... It's nice that dh has monday off, so maybe we'll go on a bikeride and picnic or something.

Oh, by the way, all the things the kids did at camp this week meets probably about 20 requirements for the wolf badge! Can you believe that? Half of them are activities, half electives that they will be getting beads for as well. I didn't know that they would earn so many things! I even got a badge!
But I am not about to get a boy scouts uniform to put it on...LOL!

Well, last post until Sunday night. DH ended up coming home early and we had errands to run so didn't get anything done in the house except laundry! That's okay though...we'll be back Sunday night so I'll get lots done on Monday. We're going to tackle the Office! Yikes! That will definitely take both of us. But DH is such an organizer we'll probably have it all done in about two hours! It's mostly just throwing stuff out and as you know I'm in the software business so I have tons of computer books that are now outdated and can go to Half Price Books or Goodwill.

Rachel, it did get to 62 today! LOL! But FINALLY on about Tuesday it's supposed to start warming up and possibly be 80 on Wednesday. Oh boy can't WAIT for that. Glad the back isn't too bad. Yep, give it a rest!

Cendrine, what a week huh? Glad you earned a badge...maybe a stripe too! LOL! I really enjoyed your daily recaps and glad it was you and not me! HAHA! Let's see, this week, I just want to get some stuff done around here: cleaning out, sorting, cleaning up the yard, etc. I'm feeling cluttered!

Okay, I probably won't have time to check in tomorrow as DH wants to leave at the crack of dawn! So you guys enjoy your weekend! Talk to you then!

Cendrine, I can not believe that the boys fit all those activities into one day! That is amazing organizing. Yall must have really kept them busy! I am glad you are getting to relax now. Things like that stress me out just because I really over think everything:rolleyes:

No workout today. I was going to stretch again this morning but I think it will have to wait till this afternoon because I have hair in a little bit and I have to get ready. I really slept in this morning...6am! LOL

Nothing going on here too exciting yet but we will have to see if we can stir some thing up.

I hope you have a great time Jo!
