--> STS 6 month alumni-Week of Aug. 1<---

Well I figure everyone is gone so no wonder there was no thread started for the week! :p

We had a wonderful time but I think I need about a week of being away from here to really feel vacated. LOL Unfortunately right now I would not feel good about leaving the dogs. It is going to be hot hot hot all week. 107's and that is not the heat index. They say maybe feel like 115-120! In all my life here, it has never been that hot. Esp. for this long.

Anyway..Dh and I both flipped our kayaks but it was so much fun and the water so cold ! That was the best part! When dh loads the pics, I will try to post some.

I was trying to recover from bad sleep though so I really just laid in bed this morning so still no workout. I do have my workout clothes on though and am probably going to do the boxing workout. Then this afternoon am going to try a hot and sweaty yoga class. I don't think they are going to have to turn on the heat this time...Just open the door!

I hope you Canadians are enjoying your holiday;)

Cendrine-Please think of us while you soak up all that cool Seattle weather...You too Jo!

We're home! It's been a super hot weekend (In the 30's C) there is ac in the cottage but my mom doesn't like to turn in on much because she worries it costs too much. :rolleyes:She also will only make 1/2 a pot of coffee at a time because it might not all get used:( She is "very careful" with her money. Bottom line is that lots of time together with your family in one (very hot) household can get too much! We slept out in the camper and there was nice breezes so it was great for sleeping. But no dishwasher, 13 people and a mother who insists on a full dinner (meat, veggies, potatoes) every night but won't turn on the ac can lead to grumpy people. Anyways, it was a beautiful weekend, with lots of swimming, boating etc but I'm tired, and ready to go back to work tomorrow!!!

I have to admit that I had one fight with one of my sisters but we worked things out. I think we all got overtired, overheated, and spent a little too much time together. Overall it was still really good.

Cathe didn't post an August rotation! I guess she is busy with the roadtrip, I was tired this evening so didn't bother working out (although DH did MMA Boxing) but hopefully she will post a rotation that I can start tomorrow.

Rachael Goodness on that heat!!!! I sure hope there is ac everywhere you go this week. It does seem funny to be going to hot yoga this week maybe they can just do the class outside. We rented kayaks last weekend and loved it! We have a old canoe at the cottage which DH and I did take out once this weekend.

Patricia Don't have any of Tracy Anderson dvds but I have heard the name. What did you do with the holiday Monday??

Cendrine Have a great trip! BTW, the stucco is done, it's very neutral colour nothing exciting. I guess I'll have to add the colour with the landscaping!

Jo Hope you got a little fun time this weekend!

Well finally got through last week; papers turned in, midterms taken, meetings at both jobs and got the house clean! LOL! Today I actually STARTED my new job and it was solid meetings from 8 until 6 (did I say I need to drop to 1 class?). LOL! I know I'm going to like it! Everyone is super nice and of course I had to meet with my team (about 42 people) first thing this morning... so I got in and met with the CEO for 90 minutes, then I met with my entire team, then exec meeting, then meetings with employees began, then I had IT come in and rearrange my desk (oh sure they love me already!) LOL! Me being the computer geek I am, everyone at my old office would be drooling with the equipment I have - two giant 24" monitors and a screaming machine. My laptop comes tomorrow. So enough about me!

I know I don't need to apologize but I feel horrible I haven't been on to post and was worried you all thought I'd disappeared for good! I haven't! But I haven't had time to go catch up on last week. We finally had summer days over the weekend, it was in the mid 70's and it's supposed to be like that all week.

Rachel, I love you flipped you kayak! Isn't that fun? LOL! I can't wait to see pictures! I can't believe the heat you all are having! So is work still slow or do you have something lined up? What's up with that?

Kim, oh my gosh you crack me up reading about your weekend! And the 1/2 pot of coffee to boot! LOL! Okay, that REALLY gave me a chuckle! Yeah how's that big dinner setting on your stomach when you're hot? LOL!

Cendrine and I are meeting on Thursday evening and are going to get some good girl time! It will be so fun to see her! Of course I'm going to drag her down to lululemon! Shame on me - I shouldn't even say that when I haven't even been working out the last few weeks. We have taken Ibo for walks on the trail so I haven't turned into a total coach potatoe!

So my plan is to drop down to one class next session (3 weeks to go on this one) but I'm not going to stop. I need to get this finished! But I know I'll be working like a dog at new job. With that said, I got to get to bed!

Hello Patricia! Hope you're having a good holiday!

Cendrine - see you soon! She picked a great week to be here since the weather is good!

TTYL!!

Good Morning.

Well I survived the hot and sweaty yoga class!:p You won't believe this but I was not strong enough to do some of the shoulder moves. They did some real toughies! A lot of forearm planks and then you raise yourself up from that point and then lower yourself back down. It was quite the humbling experience.

Today I am hitting another class. It is the teacher I like and she is going on vacation for a week after this so I don't want to miss her last class for a while.

Kim-Your mom sounds a lot like my FIL and so I feel your pain. LOL I understand wanting to be frugal but sometimes the things they are frugal about completely don't make sense. Then , my FIL anyhow, will go blow money on the stupidest things...like once a month he goes to the casino. Really I do not get it at all! LOL
I am waiting for that rotation too. I think I have been off the wagon long enough and am ready for something steady.

Jo-It is so good to hear from you. I have to admit , I do miss you when you aren't around;). Are you and Cendrine meeting up while she is in Seattle?
I love that you are getting all kinds of new tech gear to play with!
Work is S-L-O-W! I think it might be a long hard winter but I trying not to be a worry wart. We are always prepared for these times but I hate when money is only going out. I know everyone can understand that.

Waving at you, Cendrine and Patricia!

Off to eat some breakfast and get ready to go.
Have a great day!

Another one bites the dust...yoga class that is! Today it was a called Ashtanga...This is where the instructor goes through a lot of the poses of Ashtanga in a flow. Sometimes she skips some and we get farther down this chart that they have. I really had no idea about any of this stuff so it is kind of fun to learn something new.

Then I came home ate lunch let that settle and did a premix off of Intensity. I did the step and Low Hiit. I think this might be the longest intense workout I have done since I hurt my back and it went good so keeping my fingers crossed that that is all over with.

OK since this is a double for me, I guess that is it. Just hot and miserable here so nothing to do but stay in.

Oh yea Kim, the new rotation is up. I just started with Tues.

TTYL

Ok I know there are 3 posts in a row from me but I am keeping us on the front page.;)

This mornings workout was supposed to be LIC and I did attempt it but I think I was still tired from doing Intensity late yesterday (3 is really late for me). So I tried. Then I went to a self practice class with 2 other girls . I like getting away from the house for a minute so I am not always just sittin' here in my own head.

We have a little job to do tomorrow and other than that nothing nut the heat still. I think this is the hottest day on record. Not a good record to set. My car said 113 when I left my hair appt. and it was 100 when I left yoga at 10 am. YUCK!

So nothing but sweat for us. It kind of is making everyone cranky!

Well I am off...ttyt

I'm keeping you company Rachael! I started the August rotation yesterday with Butts & Guts and today was Intensity. It feels good to be back in a structured routine.

We're still hot here, although not as hot as you Rachael. The farmers are worried about the crops as there is not enough rain that is the farmers that were not flooded out this spring. From flood to drought in the last few months.

Glad to hear that your back is doing okay Rachael. Having less time at work is probably giving you some healing time as well. Are your shoulders sore after all the yoga??

Jo, it's great to hear you so excited about the new job and all the toys that come with it! Hope you and Cendrine have fun tomorrow!!

Are you melting in Toronto, Patricia??

87 degrees at 5 AM...It is sad that this is the relief we get...And Kim, we are in severe drought here. I think we are something like 25" short for the year and that does not count how much for last yr.
Another 109 degree day to look forward to.

Yes my shoulders are sore from the yoga, maybe this will help me gain some strength in them.
I kind of cheated and skipped Mondays workout and started with tuesday...I am off to do 40/20:eek:

Have a great day everyone!

Rachel:)

Hi you hot/sweaty/melting girls! It actually got to 80 here yesterday! Cendrine is lucky and visiting here while we're having our first fantastic weather week all summer. Speaking of which...I'm meeting her in two hours! Yippee! I wish we were all meeting!

Work is going fantastic! I already feel like I've worked here a while. Everyone is really nice and I think they like me too! Rachel I'm proud of ya for being the yoga girl! I know I should do that as it does a body good...but I haven't! :D

Kim, hope you're enjoying your first summer in the new house! What's going on with DS and girls? You haven't mentioned that in a while! :p

Hi Patricia! Okay, back to work so I can go meet Cendrine! I can't wait to see her! I'll report back later!

TTYL!

Good morning! Well it's 11:00 am, I've worked out, gone downtown to the passport office, spent a hour doing Disney planning on the 'puter for friends, done 2 loads of laundry, do you think it's time to wake the kids up:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:.

Today's workout was HITT 40/20 and a 20 min brisk walk on the tm. YEsterday I substituted a long bike ride with the kids for LIC. DD has discovered that she loves bike riding, which is great so she's asking to go lots and the weather is beautiful.

I needed the stress relief as I had a difficult day at work yesterday. ONe of my patients, a 17 yr old girl went into the public bathrooms outside the physio/OT rooms and tried to commit suicide. She didn't get very far before we realized what was going on. I ended up taking her to the children's ER to get admitted to psychiatry. Of course we're short staff and the other patients don't know what's going, they just complain that your late, etc It was just one of those days. First thing in the morning, I changed a bloody bandage and then accidentally knocked the dirty bowl of saline/blood onto the front of my white capris. It was really just one of those days.

No plans really for the rest of today and the weekend except the football game tonight, some housework maybe some shopping for new shoes that don't give me blisters. My poor feet are a mess, I got a terrible leech bite last weekend, mosquito bites, I hurt my toenail hiking and then my work s shoes are rubbing and giving me blisters. I was waiting till my shopping trip to Minneapolis to buy shoes but I don't think I can wait.

Anyways, way to much complaining from me. Just needed to vent. My poor coworkers got to hear all my troubles yesterday:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Jo and Cendrine, what did you guys do yesterday???
Jo, ds's "girlfriend" is away at summer camp. He doesn't tell me much. They were getting together at the mall, or for a movie, 1-2 a week earlier in the summer and then it stopped because she went off to camp.

Waving hi to Patricia and Rachael!!

Oh Kim! You vent all you want! Your day sounds like it was a doozy! Hopefully that was just 1 day and you got all the craziness over that day! Sounds like you are having a very productive day today though! I'm just taking a quick break so wanted to update all of you on my Cendrine visit! :D

We met at the Nordstrom Cafe as it has wonderful salads. Her DH, kids and MIL & FIL were off having dinner elsewhere in the mall. We chatted for a good little while (maybe 90 minutes or so) and then we went out and strolled through Nordstrom a little (I had a cute top and tank on hold :D). So I picked those up and then took her to Lululemon! She had never been in one of their stores. So we spent a few minutes there and then went and met her family before heading home. She looked beautiful! Her kids are simply adorable! We had a wonderful visit!! Believe or not, we did not talk about fitness the whole time! (Think we did more of that the first time we met.) Anyway, I loved seeing her! I really hope one day I can have a chance to meet all of you. It's so fun to meet in person!

Then got home last night and got another paper written - so just have one more to write for this week. I am super tired today as this first week at work has been super busy.

Okay, back to work. DH and I are going out to dinner tonight with friends so I'm going to relax!

TTYL!

I didn't realize I didn't post all week! It's been so busy with DH away and at work trying to get ready to go on vacation.

I'm off to meet DH at the cottage now with DS and won't have access to the computer.

Have a great week all and I'll catch back up with you later.

Good Saturday Morning!

I am killing time before my 90 min workout:eek: BM2! We will have to see how that goes. LOL
Nothing exciting here. We are just trying to stay cool after 3 days with temps at 109. When I saw 100 on the seven day forecast I got excited.
We got a kiddy pool for the dogs while they are outside. They get so dirty because they like to lay under our shop so they are not able to go in and out as freely. This morning I looked outside and our big hairy dog was just laying in the pool with a big smile on his face. It's sad because all the creeks anywhere near here have gone under ground so he does not have that normal release that he has had in the past.

We got a grim jobs report for the rest of the year and maybe even farther than that. (confused is not really the expression I am going for there but yall get the picture I am sure LOL) <---better to laugh...DH is going on Monday to interview for an outtage job at a power plant that starts in October. I think more to get him out of the house more than anything else. Of course the money coming in will be good too but thank goodness we have saved. I really do not know what the other people out there in construction are going to do. I just hope all this mess will work itself out sooner than later.!

Kim-Sorry about your bad day. VENT VENT VENT...I am sure I will have tons to vent about in the future. It seems like when a day starts off bad it seems to go south fast sometimes.
When were you going to Minneapolis again? I forgot.

Jo-It sounds like you and Cendrine had a really nice visit! I would love to do that sometime. RIght now Seattle is looking really good. LOL I am so glad Cendrine and her family got the nice weather too!

OK I guess enough stalling...Wish me luck!

Hi girls! We've been going nonstop... now waiting to board to go back home, so it gave me the first chance all week to read your posts! I'll hit the post botton often so I don't loose anything ;)
Kim, it felt good to hear you talking about your family time at the cottage, I feel in good company...lol and we stayed in a hotel, not the same house for at least half the time... my inlaws keep everything, every produce bag etc, and whatever they don't eat they try to guilt us into eating so it does 'not go to waste'....
So sorry to hear about your crazy day at work, oh dear! You would have heard me vent too!
While we were at hood canal we went kayaking too! It was so much fun, I hadn't done this since I was 14! Wish we could have done more of it. The kids got clams and oysters but I didn't eat they any, I have an aversion to anything in a shell...lol.

Here comes my next installment...lol! So hood canal was fun for the kids, they also had fun roasting marhmallows over the fire. I went for a couple of nice walks in the forest, which was very refreshing and Jo is right, the weather was beautiful!
we stayed there three days then went to bellevue for the rest. FIL has lots of fruit trees and the kis got to pick raspberries and blueberries as well as feed the squirrels peanuts, they loved that.
we went tonorthwest treck one day which is a safari of sorts where we saw elk, deer, bison, turtles, swans, geese, mountain goats etc all from an open window bus. They had a beautiful walking trail that we did after lunch, so I felt like I got a little exercise, being in the forest was a beautiful bonus! (I did a couple of cc on the hotel gym machines and could definitely tell that my cario capacity is nowhere near where it once:( was... but at least I worked out ;)

Dinner with Jo was wonnderful! If I didn't say this before I'll say it now, those purple glasses look so good on her! She looks so great, you could no tell that she is stretched so much in all directions! Oops, gotta turn off the cell... bbl

So to continue, Jo is so much fun!, but then you guys already know that! The cute top and tank she got was really cute and the color looks super good on her too! She had me try on some lululemon jackets (will have to revisit!)I and showed me the thumb slit on the wrist, so cool! We saw a cute jacket in the window that I ended up seeing at the airport today....;)

I'm home now and beat...lol dh is picking up a salad for dinner, so nice!

Well, I think that's all I got energy for today, I have laundry going and need to do my exercises and stretches, as I'm tight from traveling.... oh we had a free upgrade to first class and I felt like a nazi sitting up front and having the fli:eek:ght attendants prohibit the 'commoners' from using 'our' bathroom and 'loitering' the first class aisle... but the free lunch was nice... ;)
