~~~>STS 6 Month Alumni-Sept.26<~~~
Good Morning.
Well I lazed in bed this morning. I did start waking up at regular time(around 4) but I just stayed in bed till 7:eek: The temperature was just right to lay there.lol
I did get up though and get my workout in. Boot Camp...I have to be honest and tell you I skipped the legs in 7 and 8. I just felt like I needed the extra rest so I took it. I am never very good at the side lunges anyhow. I don't think I am flexible in that way too well. I was in a car wreck when I was sixteen and fractured my pelvis, I always wondered if that had anything to do with it.
Well DH is gearing up for another project. He loves this weather too so it will be an outdoor one, I know I still need to post some pics of the mudroom.:eek:
Cendrine-I hope the rest is doing you some good. I am thinking I might take a few rest days next week before I start a new rotation. I always feel re-energized after that.
Jo-I am dying to hear about the new machine. I hope it was super fun and cool! I third not liking the elliptical and I always wondered too why people fight for it, Cendrine.
Kim-I hope your meeting went well.
Going to go enjoy the nice weather. Have a great day!
I didn't get to check in yesterday, busy with cleaning and then meeting with the realtors. They seem to think the house would sell quickly and didn't really have any suggestions to change anything. They told me that the house was very clean;)
The plan is to list the house on November 1st with open houses on Nov 6th and 7th and take offers on November 9th. We are putting a possesion date of Feb 28th and the new house is supposed to be ready mid January. So a bit of a cushion in case the new house is late. The new house was inspected (electrical etc) by the city and needs one change and then they will start the insulation/drywall once the drywall is done then they will give us a confirmed possession date.
Now that we have got organzied, I'm booking our winter holiday for the first week of December. I think we're going to go to Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Anyone been there?? It's early for a winter holiday but I want to keep Janaury/Feb free for the move.
Started week 4 of the Sept rotation with High Step Training Advance this morning. Looking forward to seeing what the October rotation is.
My dd decided not to do her cross country meet. The Grades 3-5 do only one meet and it was today, after her experience on Monday (and none of friends were going) she didn't want to go. I didn't push her, she is so shy and has had so many changes this fall with the new school but I was disappointed as she's a great runner and would have done well. DS was supposed to have a meet this evening (Grade 6-8) but wanted to keep his legs fresh for hockey tryouts which start tomorrow:rolleyes::rolleyes: I know that hockey is so important to him so I didn't push him either
Sorry, a very self involved post. I'm going to post this one and then come back for personals
Cendrine How nice for your dd to make a new friend! Glad it's cooling off for you. My sister and her family are heading down to California in a couple of weeks for a vacation, they are doing Disneyland, LA Kings game, etc.
Rachael I'm glad that the job is going so well! I'm really not looking to 40/20 in the morning. I was thinking that it was 30/30 till you posted:confused:
Jo I did watch TBL, it was good! I was cleaning as I watched. How was the exercise machine?
I think I am starting to feel a little more relaxed from my rest and am thinking of maybe even only working out a few days instead of six days next week to give a slow start. I'm glad I decided to take the rest instead of forcing myself every morning, it is agreeing with my back too.
Kim I just had to chuckle about ds saving his legs for hockey tryouts, that is so funny and yet I so understand! It's refreshing to see you let your kids go with their decisions and not pushing them. I see so many kids being pushed into more athletic stuff than they would choose for themselves down here, to the point where that is all they do and no free time for being just themselves and discovering who they are. I'm sure your dd will get back to running when she is ready, I don't blame her for not wanting to go after what just happened, I probably would not have wanted to go either had I been her. She must have inherited her running talent from you and dh, huh?
Have you been able to do any running lately?
Rachel, good job doing Bootcamp, as far as I am concerned, I'd rather do the legs than the cardio drills.... LOL! But I find side lunges more challenging than regular ones too, and I haven't fractured my pelvis, maybe our bodies just aren't supposed to move that way with as much range of motion? I wonder. I'm glad you got to relax in bed this morning!
Hi there Jo, hope all is well with you!
TGIF!!! Had too much going on yesterday so couldn't get back to post! I didn't get to try the machine as are are only 6 and apparently everyone is clamoring to try them - they were all busy! So I might try again today (take off a little early from work ;)). Anyway, yesterday went to spinning again and then came home and did homework until Midnight. I'm trying to do more homework during the week so I have more free time on the weekends. Last night I was doing my Psychology assignment and trying and trying to make that stuff stick! LOL! Oh and remember last week I thought I may have missed 3 on the test, well, I missed 2. So that's not as bad. Also, yesterday had my appt with my advisor so got signed up for the next semester. Next session, which starts Oct 25, I'll have first Accounting class and then for my science class (you guys will love this...) I have Nutrition! Then in January I'll have Statistics and the first in a series of Business Management classes I have to take (I forget what it was).
Rachel, did DH decide on what project to do? Yes, where are those pictures?? Would love to see your mudroom! I always chuckle at you lazing around until 7! I can barely get up by 8 these days! LOL!
Cendrine, I'm glad you're feeling better. Backing off some and getting more rest must be what your back wants!
Kim, reading your post, I'm thinking it's cool that DS is listening to his body already and knows he'll be his best by giving those legs a rest! I have never been to Mexico (except Tijuana sp?) but I bet it will be good. I know other people that have been to Mexico and love it but don't know about where you're talking. I hope your house does sell quickly! Though i know you've been waiting and probably feel impatient at times, it'll all be over before you know it!
Alright, I think I'm caught up! Off to the shower and work!
Oh last thing...I think it's interesting none of us like the elliptical!! See, another thing we have in common! :eek::cool::p;):D
OK quickie for me.
DH and I are going to see a friend from school today so have to get some things done around here before we do that.
L&G today and I pushed hard until the end and was pretty much pooped out. I did make it to the end though so I feel great about that.LOL It was questionable for sure.
I will be back later for personals.
Have a great Friday!
Rachel great job on L&G!!! Don't you feel accomplished! Hopefully you'll have a sore butt to boot! LOL!:p
Hello hello
Well we had such a good time catching up with our friend. He used to be one of my best friends in school and we lost touch when he moved and now he is back so I am so excited about that.
Other than that, we have done nothing else all day. Well I take that back I did clean all the floors in the house and that took a little bit but other than that...nothing else.LOL
Jo-Well the machines are probably like everything else new that comes to a gym. It is the most used thing for a while and then the attention dies down. I wonder if they will end up getting more if they see that lots of people like it.
It is very exciting that you are going to have a nutrition class. I can not wait to be enlightened! LOL I am sure it is going to be more interesting than your psychology class!
Way to go on only missing 2 ...see you knew one more thing than you thought! ;)
Cendrine-I think you are right about range of motion...I am totally not moving that way. It just does not feel normal at all.
I am glad you are starting to feel better. It sounds like your body was just telling you to rest and when you did it responded. I think mine might be telling me the same thing so I am going to take a lighter week next week before I start another rotation.
Kim-Wow you are such a planner! I have heard a lot about Playa, it is a popular vacation site from here and everyone seems to like it alot. I am sure your family is going to love it.
It is going to be neat to hear how fast your house sales esp. since things are slow in the realty dept. here.
I don't blame you for not pushing the kids. It does not sound like they are slackers by any means and sometimes kids need a break too from all their activities.
Jo, nutrition???? Are you kidding me? You could teach the class, I'm sure! I would expect your 'making it stick' efforts for that class won't have to kick in at all...LOL! But if you learn anything new, do tell us, I would love to know! And awesome job on the psych test! I would not be able to get out of bed by 7 if I did homework til midnight, you are fully entitled to those hours of sleep!
Kim, I have never been to Mexico, so can't give you much help on the topic. I know people do go there, somehow I've always been kind of scared off by the drug stuff... I guess I read the news too much....:rolleyes:
It's nice the realtor saw all your hard work in cleaning the house!;) I hope everything goes smoothly. It sure seems to move pretty quick now, even though it took forever to get started!
Rachel, how fun to reconnect with an old friend! I enjoy those times myself too!
Well, not much to say here today, it was sort of a long day so I'll go chill.;)
Rachel, I'm glad you had so much fun! Isn't it great to reconnect with old friends! I'll bet you had a good feeling all over!
Cendrine, I know, isn't that a hoot about the class? I said to my advisor...really? I can take that for my science class? Here's the class description:
SCI- Nutrition, Health and Wellness
This course provides an overview of basic nutrients the body requires for health and life, and dispels common nutrition myths. The role of nutrition in various biological phases of the human life cycle, as well as psychological and sociological implications of food, are discussed. Students also learn how the scientific method of inquiry is used in the nutritional science and health fields. In the lab, students collect observational data, employ computer simulations, and prepare and sample various foods.
Okay, so I turned in all my assignments for both classes and then took my data test tonight and missed one! That is the first time I've misssed ANYTHING in this class. I have no idea what I missed as I thought I had them all 100% so we'll see. So now for this class, no more tests until the final. I have to take psychology test AGAIN tomorrow! Ugghhh. We'll see if my new method for studying for this class works this time. For the data class I always know right away how I did, but for psychology I have to wait until it gets posted. (Hope you guys don't mind me going on and on about my classes!) Yes, hopefully I'll learn some useful information for us in the nutrition class! ;)
Okay, off to bed...
Hello! I'm sitting her drinking my coffee trying to decide what workout to do but I'm TIRED! I'm thinking I might go do PUB up premix. Or maybe I'll do one of the 4DS cardio. I really want to get back on track with a rotation starting tomorrow. My shoulder, though not 100%, is finally feeling more normal so I'm thinking I'll get back with some light weights to see how it does. I would like to start upper body tomorrow. I don't really have anything else on my agenda today besides my test other than we need to make a Costco run.
What are you guys all up to?
Oh goodness ladies, I need a moment to vent. I have to admit I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed these last few days and I haven't been sleeping well at all. My head just seems to be spinning the last few days with:
-selling the house and what jobs still need to be done before the open house
-the new house and the frustration of it taking so long and thinking about things like ordering curtains and stuff for it.
-Mexico vacation, did I pick a safe spot. Did I spend too much? I spent a long time reading reveiws, talking to travel agents, etc but hopefully I did a good job.
-It's asthma season, ds has a cold. He used to spend LOTS of time in hospital but seems to be under control the last couple of years. He stopped taking his preventation meds because since he's been on steroids for so many years he has stunted growth and hates to be the smallest kid in junior high school but I think I've convinced him to go back on.
-terrible politics in ds's hockey:( Nothing new but starting again, the poor kid just never gets a chance due to silly politics, etc.
-ds really wants to sign up for a curling league. I've never curled so trying to find a good spot and I guess I need to go buy him equipment this weekend.
-next week is Canadian Thanksgiving, both sides of the family want us to go for the weekend. Got to figure something out without hurting feelings as well as swimming lessons for the kids start next weekend.
-the two hours of extra driving every day is getting to me.
-I missed my workout yesterday which made me feel quilty all day. I'm so behind on the Sept rotation which I guess doesn't matter since Cathe hasn't posted the October rotation.
I stayed up half the night and read an entire book last night, it wasn't even a good book. I just couldn't sleep. Now I'm all out of books, got to add a trip to the library in today.
Sorry, sorry for my super self pity post. I feel better getting some of it written down. Life is good, it's almost too good right now:D Lots going on but it's all good stuff so I shouldn't complain. Lots to be thankful for. I just finished 40/20 and ab circuits which felt great, I think I really needed it. Now got to figure out how to plan the day what needs done and what can be left.
Oh Kim! You have a TON going on! In fact after you mentioned the Mexico trip I was thinking, WOW you've got activites coming at you from all directions! So don't feel you're having a pity party!!! I don't know how you do it! Where's your time for YOU? I think it's great to get it all written down, that's how I relieve work stress when it wakes me up in the middle of the night. I just write everything down and then it's like you purge it out of your system and then you can sleep or focus or whatever it is you need to do. Take a deep breath! Hopefully you can get a new book you enjoy and that can take you away....:D
Good Saturday!
Sorry for the late post but DH got invited to a skeet shooting contest kind of last minute so I took this morning to do all the girly things guys hate. I went to the soap store and the make up store and then finished off at the grocery store. Tomorrow's Sunday dinner is going to be delicious Braised short ribs. I know ...not healthy really but I love to have a really great "Sinday" dinner <---the Sinday was an accident but it fit so I left it!:D
It was HSC for me and I have not done this workout enough to remember how tough it is as far as quick paced! It is fast. I barely had time to recover through out but again I was just proud that I went to the end. This last week has been up and down as far as stamina is concerned. I think it is my cycle and the early mornings combined. We will see how the next week goes.
Kim-Vent all you want. You have a ton going on and if it were me I would be totally overwhelmed too. You are right, it sounds like a lot of good things but that still doesn't mean that it is not stressful! It is OK to let it out. I really do not see it as complaining. As far as the trip planning goes I am always stressed out when it comes to that. The other day, I was listening to a radio program that I always listen to, and a caller was saying how her husband and her were going on a trip to Aruba...The radio personality started saying a lot of bad things about Aruba. I told DH that would have been terrible to plan a trip and pay for it and then someone tell you something to second guess yourself.
I don't know much about it personally but I am sure it is a safe place to go. When you are in the more tourist areas you are normally safe.
Jo-You are amazing!!!! The nutrition class sounds like a breeze for you. LOL It always surprises me how much alot of people do not know! Silly things really that it seems you hear about all the time but I guess not everyone pays attention to those things. Did you figure out what you were going to do for a rotation?
Cendrine-I hope you are enjoying a nice relaxing day. Did the weather cool off? I am the same way about needing to be in bed early to get up early. I really do operate best on a solid 8 hrs if not more:D
It is beautiful TX weather here right now. High at 80 and the house staying cool from the 50's last night. I just love this time of yr so much. I love everything about fall. The leaves changing, the colors, warm comforting food, so of course Thanksgiving, I just can not say one bad thing about it!
I hope yall are having great fall weather too.
Thanks for the reassurance Jo! I'm really trying not to complain, I mean life is good with vacations, new houses, healthy/active kids but just a little overwhelming at the moment. It will so interesting to take a nutrition class! You'll have to share what you learn with us! Of course I don't mind you talking about your classes! I always loved school and often thought about going back for a graduate degree so neat to hear about it!
Rachael Did you sub L&G for Leaner Legs?? You're almost done this rotation! What fun to see an old friend! It's amazing sometimes how easy it is to pick up where you left off so has he moved back to the area?
Cendrien I believe the hotel we are staying in is in a gated community. The hotel itself is a 5+ star so hopefully safety shouldn't be a problem.
Okay off to piano lessons!
Quick note as DH is waiting for me...I think I did okay on Psychology test. There's only one I'm not sure about. If I missed anything else I'll do an extra Terminator workout for punishment! :p Actually, if I did miss more than one I won't know why!!! Off to Costco...later!
Oh, Kim, I hope I didn't add to your worries about wether you picked the right spot for vacationing! That wasn't helpful of me, so sorry! Gated hotel sounds good though! I've never heard of such a thing, just shows you how little I travel! I can just feel your head spinning right with you when you shared all the things that need to get done in a short amount of time for you guys! That would be enough to keep me up and read any book from cover to cover and then feel bummed about the extra trip to the library added to the already long list of things to do! And yet you got your workout in! Awesome! I'm sorry to hear about politics in hockey, politics always gets me riled up! I hope you get a breakthrough, and you know, if you don't have curtains in your house when you move in, no one will know but you. I remember when I was a kid and we moved into our house, the floors were still concrete, no doors on any of the frames, just the bathrooms and kitchen and elecricity were up and running, everything else got done snail pace and it was ok....:rolleyes: Not pretty, but ok....LOL
Rachel, that workout keeps me breathing from start to finish too! But its a fun one anyway. Fall really is a nice time of year! What are you all doing for thanksgiving, menu wise, that is? The temps are in the low 80s now, so its more to what we are used to....;)
Jo, do keep us posted on your classes, I enjoy hearing about it too! I hope your body will cooperate with the upper body weights! it would be nice for you to get back into that! You have been very patient, I think, to give it that much rest!
Well, gotta go get some stuff for the party next week. Ds is selling cub scouts popcorn at the Trader Joes store front for an hour and a half with ds (so glad I don't have to be there!) and then we will got to dinner somewhere.
Rachael, we must have been posting at the same time. Just want to make sure that you didn't think I was ignoring you;) I loved the Sinday dinner reference. LOL I haven't done HSC in a long time either, I kind of forget what it's like. I've never been too crazy about the circuit workouts sometimes I feel a little woozy switching so quickly from cardio to weights. You are so right about the trip planning, I stopped reading reviews on tripadvisor.com for every one that loved a hotel there was another person that hated it. It can get very confusing. Autumn is my favourite time of the year too!
Jo I'm sure you did great on the Psychology test! Are you doing them online??
Cendrine Oh I never read your comment that way at all! I just have such a hard time with decisions that I always worry that I've choosen the wrong one! You're so right about worrying less about the small details of the new house, DH keeps saying the same thing. Oh, I remember selling popcorn! The teachers often got some as Christmas gifts when ds was little:D How is the cake for ds coming along??
Here's a link to the hotel that I booked
www.riupalacemexicoresort.com
I collect Airmiles, which is a Canadian/British program to collect points.I get lots at my local grocery store and my Mastercard. The girls at work call me the Airmiles Queen because I'm always finding little tips/searching the flyers to find ways to collect airmiles. That is how we pay for the majority of our annual family trips which we couldn't afford otherwise. This week in Mexico (all-inclusive) including flights was $5,100 and I paid $1100 which was the booking fee/taxes. I'm Canadian got to pay lots of taxes:rolleyes:
