~~STS 6 MONTH ALUMNI~~~Nov.21

HOW I SPENT MY DAY

Got up at 6:30 and decided to avoid 4ds Boot Camp so got an extra few minutes to hang out with you ladies. Wake up kids make breakfast and pack lunches. The radio is still saying there is a winter storm warning better leave early.

Decide to go warm up the car. Who needs to zip up the boots just to run to the driveway? Okay I have wet socks now there is 3 ft of snow on the driveway. Sit halfway in the driver's seat to turn the car on. Who needs to close the car door as I'm just starting the car. Oh yes, the wipers are still on from the snowstorm yesterday and there is a foot of snow on the windshield. Nice snow shower I have no jacket on. Okay, wet socks and wet sweater. Okay inside better get the kids moving as it's stormy then I realized. They can eat breakfast in the car.

In the car, first 3 miles on the gravel road goes okay. I get to the highway and accidentaly cut off a school bus. We both go fishtailing all over the highway. Okay everyone is okay.Driving really slowly on the highway.Only saw 3 cars in the ditch, it's much better than the radio says. SOmeone took out the railway crossing light. The same one someone took out last week and they just fixed on Tuesday must be very slippery part of the highway. Drop kids off at school and head downtown. Oh, the traffic on the bridge to downtown has come to a halt, spend half a hour stuck on the bridge. Get to work 20 mins late, patients are waiting. Took me one hour 40 mins to get to work.

My mom phones me at work asks me to please not take the highway home as the radio says it's terrible. She spends too much time listening to the radio. Leave work, get stuck on the same bridge going home. Some lady is driving 10 miles an hour over the bridge. WTH???? Then I realize that she has Georgia license plates. What is she doing here? I pass her she looks scared to death.

Pick up kids. Then spend 10 mins waiting for a train to pass. Get pass the train go another mile. Then got stuck behind traffic when we finally get further ahead, the problem was a tow truck driver stuck blocking the intersection. Who tows out the tow trucks?

Pick up a pizza on the way home as dd won a gift certificate get home with 15 mins till we have to leave for hockey. Made it home in under 2 hours! But we can't get in the driveway as DH has got the car stuck in the snow again. We shovel /push the car and able to move it over so it's out of people's way for now and then we ditch it as we have to get to hockey. Off to the hockey game, another train!!!!! Get to the arena just in time. DS wins 14-0, not a evenly match game.

Yeah, finally get to go home. It's still snowing out. Get home oh yea the car is still stuck. Get to shovel for a hour. Then spend 1/2hr trying to push out the car. Great way to spend quality time with the neighbours. 3 men and one ds to push, while I drive.

Now inside and I'm eating potatoe chips and playing on the computer. 4DS is not happening tonight.

I posted some pictures under the album "house" to show you the snow.

I think it's a good thing you didn't do bootcamp today! You had a bootcamp of another sort waiting for you! What a day! I can just feel the tension and frustration! I'm glad you all made it through the day ok and congrats to ds' game! He must be happy! I know it was a nasty day, but the way you wrote about it was very comical! Have a good night's rest tonight!

OH KIM!!! I have the whole visual picture of your day and get the frustration! Oh you poor thing! But forgive me, cause like Cendrine said, you made it comical! I hope you are finally relaxing and will have an easy day tomorrow! WHAT A DAY!! I think tomorrow you need to do a favorite workout and be pampered! You've more than earned it! Take a deep breath and put it all behind you!

Well it was an easy layed-back day today. I talked to my mom and all my siblings, DH's mom, and then got my paper written for my nutrition class. So now we're settling in to watch a movie - what I don't know. The good thing about no company or going anywhere was I didn't eat anything I shouldn't and didn't eat too much! And, as I stated earlier, I had a great workout!

Cendrine, so glad to hear your back is better! Yes, I think if you go super light with STS you'll really enjoy it.

Rachel, hope you had a wonderful day!

Kim...I'm sure today your patience was being tested ;) and tomorrow will be better!

Sleep well everyone!

Good Morning!!!!
Oh I missed so much yesterday!
I am so thankful that I have y'all too. I always refer to y'all as my girls when I am talking about you to DH. Yesterday I told him, I didn't write my girls today and of course he teasingly made a shocked expression as in the world would end! lol He knows how important y'all are to me too. So Happy Late Turkey day!

I thought I was going to have more time in the morning but dh's mom called and couldn't wait for us to come so we kind of rushed to get everything gathered and get out of the house.
There must have been something in the air Kim...Everyone was driving like maniacs here too. We had a terrible rain storm. One person did a u-turn in front of us, then we hydro planed, and then as we were driving down the road in terrential (sp) rain and my wind shield wiper came loose:rolleyes: At that point, I just laughed...I told dh that we were going to be lucky if we made it back home unscathed! Here we are though, no worse for wear.

Dinner was great. My MIL was very excited to be able to host TD even though it was just the 4 of us. I thought it would be a little awkward with her new bf but it was alright. They are about 1 1/2 hrs from us so it was a drive we were not used to but we were home by 8 but I was ready for pj's and blankets by then. When we left our house at 10 yesterday it was 80 degrees and by the time we got to their house, it was 42! So in an hrs drive, it had dropped almost 40 degrees! burrr!

Kim-It must of been one of those days but I am glad you could put so much humor behind it. It really did put a smile on my face too. Sometimes you have to laugh or you might just strangle somebody...LOL Thank goodness for nice neighbors huh! I hope you get that lucky with your "General Lee" neighbor!
I felt great pains for the Georgia driver...I have to agree with you on what was she doing that far north!haha

Jo-Your jammy T-Day sounds great. I think with all the stuff you have had going on here lately it is probably what you needed. Not a long drive in bad weather! I wish I could say I didn't eat too much. In the scheme of food that was there, I really didn't but just putting a little bit of everything on my plate was too much! I am used to eating way less, I guess so it was a lot!
I am so glad you are posting about the new workouts. I STILL have not got mine yet! I am hoping they come today but am very doubtful!

Cendrine-How was the whole foods t-day dinner. The sides sound interesting. Esp. the sweet potato one. I will be interested in if you think that one was worth recreating. It sounds like yall are going to have alot of leftovers too!
As far as being in the kitchen all day, I had to pretty much do all the pre making of things before I could put them together. So for the dressing I had to do the cornbread and the biscuits (super southern to put biscuits in your cornbread dressing:rolleyes:) Then I had to make the pie and the rice for the broc cass...which was not my favorite dish...So maybe when I post you can tell me what you think would make it better.Than on a whim I even cooked dinner which normally is take out on a day like that...so it was a long on to say the least.

Well it is 9am and I have not even got my workout in yet so I am off to do that. Yesterday I ended up doing a Low Max premix so today it will be the dreaded 4DS BC...TTYL

Rachel, I'm glad you made it back in one piece! Bad weather all around it looks like. I am amazed at all the things you did in the kitchen, of course, making biscuits and cornbread before you can even start on the stuffing, well, that would take time and energy. How did it turn out? The stuffing and gravy from WF was really good, but I could tell it had white bread and butter in it... If I made it from scratch, it would have been different, but everyone liked it and I am glad I didn't have to make it, it turned out to be a very relaxing day for me. The sweetpotato turnip mash was a bit sweet for my liking, if I recreated it I might put in more salt or something. The roasted veggies were great, but a bit undercooked for my liking. The quinoa thing was so so for me, I think I would have liked it better if it had not been seasoned with hickory smoked seasoning. But Dh, ds and our guest all loved it a lot. No need to cook today, plenty of leftovers....LOL

I managed to do the new STS workout, Jo. It was good and I tried to not do too heavy weights. Some of the squats were too fast for me and I subbed out the deadlifts and did other things for that. I'm a tad sore in my back now, but I think it's going to be ok. Boy does Cathe wear a lot of make up in this production....LOL Dh didn't like it.... he said she's trying to look too much like hollywood.... To be honest, once the workout started, I didn't have time to notice....LOL!

Kim, I hope you have recovered from yesterday! Is it a normal day for you today? Looks like some good sales going on down here, but I hate crowds, so I'm staying home....;)

Hi Guys! Quick post as we're headed out to do errands (my first time out of the house since Monday!) I got up and did Step Moves today - oh how I love that workout!

Anyway, back for more later...but I'm here! :p

Well this has been my best shopping experience in years, I think! I never left the comfort of the computer room and I am already with all 4 of my nephews for Christmas and I even got one of them his b-day too! I didn't have to worry too much about if they will like them or not because the website I used had a ton of rating systems and then so many reviews. They even had a graph of the kids ages and how each toy ranked in age. Oh how easy...Internet shopping where have you been all my life!!!!:D:p;););) It was Fat Brain Toys if that helps any one out.

Now onto my 13 yr old niece...uhhh so hard. But I am going to get her the life size poster of Jacob from Twilight as a gag gift!:p I told my brother that after she is done with it he can take it to his firehouse to tease a couple of the fire fighters there that were reading the book.LOL I am sure they were already teased enough but it is almost too good to resist for him I am sure!

Cendrine-I am more of a savory sweet potato person too. My MIL made the kind covered in marshmallows and that is definitely not my thing. She was sweet enough to know that so she held one out that was plain for me but there was still way too much food. No cooking here either!
I am glad you had a nice day. Oh and I am glad you got to try a new workout too!

Jo-You finally got to crawl out of your hermit hole huh? Were squinting and blinking alot! LOL I hope you had a nice day and didn't get trampled in the masses!

Kim-TGIF for you. I know you are on a regular week so here's to the weekend finally getting here!

I am off to do some more shoppin';)

Rachel, isn't shopping online the best??? We've been shopping online for Xmas for the past few years. Although there are many things I'd prefer to go look at, and touch, and feel, and squeeze (LOL) before I buy! You know a few years ago we even bought our kayaks online! Sounds like you had an enjoyable day yesterday! I was squinting and blinking today! Rather than hit the mall, I ran down to a local town center and just walked around to get out. It wasn't horribly crowded and so I wore my Asics and just went down there and walked for about 30 minutes and looked in windows. I felt fresh and envigorated with the cold air! (I had a little lululemon on under my jacket, heh heh!)

Cendrine, wasn't that just the nicest workout? I'm glad you liked it! And it was easily modifiable wasn't it? My chest and triceps are really feeling it today and my legs not too bad. I think it helped me finish recovering from High Reps! LOL! So tomorrow I'm planning on doing the Lower Body Blast! I'm really happy with these workouts so far! Hope your back is okay! Ohh, and oddly enough, though it still hurts...I think exercising my shoulders this week actually helped my shoulder! I seem to have more range of motion with less pain (still can't lean on it though or put it behind my back).

Hi Kim! Hope you on a more relaxed day today!!!! Go online and look at lululemon! That always lifts my spirits! LOL!

Time for a salad or something! TTYL!

I can't believe this but it's snowing again!!! We have so much snow already for this time of the year. The city has spent most of it's annual snow clearing budget already:confused: The long range forecast is for one of the snowiest winters on record:( I did post some snow pictures under my house album.

The driving yesterday was back to normal and it felt like such a treat. It felt like such a long week!!! I was definitely saying TGIF Rachael!! I would have loved to stay home but ds had a hockey game and I had offered to pick up his great grandma (dh's grandma) to come watch the game. So couldn't cancel that as she was very excited.

Jo I am SO glad that you got some relaxing holiday time!! What did you write your nutrition essay on??

Rachael Sounds like you had some scary driving as well! Has the weather stayed cold for you? That was a huge temperature drop! I'll have to get a picture of the "General Lee' car for you next summer. (I'm guessing it's put away for the winter). Isn't online shopping great!! I do some each year, but not so much this year.

Cendrine Your Thanksgiving feast sounded yummy! Nice that you got to relax on the holiday! Thanks great that you were able to try out the new workouts! How does the back feel today?

Would love to stay indoors and hibernate today but those silly kids have swimming lessons, piano lessons and hockey practice. Will stop by the library to pick up some holiday reading.

I'm going to forgive myself the missed workout for Thursday as it was such a long week. Friday I took my usual rest day and today will start week 4 of the November rotation and do week 4 until the new workouts arrive and rescue me from the hardest workout week ever! Today is BodyMax but will wait till later in the day to do it as it's so long.

Went by the new house yesterday, they have done the interior painting, and the stipple on the ceilings. It's starting to look like a real house!

Good Morning!!!
Saturday workout DONE!
SO now I am onto the hardest workout week too, Kim;)! And Guess What...My workouts came yesterday!!!!!I don't know how I missed the UPS man because when DH got home last night he brought them in and said they were right by the door. I was here all day:rolleyes: Ever since we added on the mud room it is hard to hear people knock but that's alright with me. As long as he leaves the goods, I'm good;):p:D

So since tomorrow is a rest day I am going to try and do more to my gym today and tomorrow. It will be more sanding (YUCK) and then it should be ready for paint, I am hoping. I found a really nice light orangey yellow...Kind of hard to describe but it reminds me of fall and Cathe, 2 of my favorite things so that is what it is going to be!

Kim-I saw the photos of the snow. I just still have my jaw on the floor about how much you have! I know yall are used to it but I bet even for yall that is over whelming sometimes. I believe you might be able to take the winter off and still get a good workout in just getting around and doing your normal day to day stuff.
We were actually in the 20's last night for lows...That is TX weather...unpredictable!

Jo-I forgot to tell you that all this time I have been pronouncing lululemon wrong. Then I saw it on Oprah's favorite things show and I was thought "Ooooh OK" haha:rolleyes: It sounds like your arm was sort of like mine...Maybe it just needs worked out but with concentration. I am glasd it is feeling better.

Cendrine-Any big plans for your last few days of break before the kids have to go back to school? Hows the back?

Off to eat ansee what I can get done today!

Kim, oh my gosh on the snow! I've been hearing that here too that we're expecting a colder than normal winter. Though it finally rained and we got rid of our snow, they got over 2 feet in the passes last night. Brrrrr.... I hope when it's time for you to move you'll have some reprieve! It could be a long winter for you if you're dealing with these kinds of conditions! And, it's not even winter yet!!! Oh boy! Thank you, yes, it's been nice to sleep too late and relax these last few days!

Rachel, you crazy girl! I'm glad you got your DVD's! Can't wait to hear what you think! I think I can picture the color you're talking about for your gym. I'll have to go look at the rotation you guys are doing to see what's coming up this week. So did Oprah pronounce it: lulu lemon? What did she say? I'm be horrified if I find out I'm pronouncing it wrong! LOL!

Oh Kim, my paper was on choosing between water, gatorade, and powerade. Last week was about vitamins and electrolytes. I have a much better understanding now of why sports drinks (not energy drinks) are good. I've always kind of scoffed at it but I can see the value now both pre, during and post exercise. We had to read a couple of articles from the American College of Sports Medicine and the Institute of Medicine and then make a recommendation. I recommended gatorade for people exercising more than 60 minutes a day during intense exercise such as running or playing sports in heat. I chose Gatorade over PowerAde because of lower sugars but higher sodium. I think I might try having some Gatorade before I spin next week to see if I have a performance difference. It may not be noticeable, but who better to experiment on than me! :D

I took today as a rest day and will do Lower Body Blast tomorrow. We're supposed to go out with friends tonight and I need to get some reading done today.

Everyone have a great weekend! Hello Cendrine!!!

Oh and Rachel, I'm glad you told me about lululemon and Oprah! Last year DH bought me some lululemon stock. Then just yesterday he asked me about selling some of it and today I said NO after reading your post! You know that being mentioned on Oprah is going to make their sales skyrocket! LOL!

It was a morning of chores here today, but it feels good to have it all out of the way! Hopefully this afternoon, dh will take the kids to the gym with him, because I'm planning on sneaking out to get the remainders of the gifts I need for the kids that I could not order online. Yes, another closet shopper here! LOL! I so love the convenience and I have been able to find stuff that the stores around here don't carry.

Jo, what did the nutrition class have to say about the food colors in the gatorade? I stopped letting my kids have gatorade (when we go to the park) because I saw it had foodcolor in it.... And yes, keep that stock! Nothing like a little advertising from Oprah....LOL!
I'm surprised to hear you were sore in the triceps from the STS workout, I thought that was the weakest area of the workout, and am feeling it much more in my glutes and hamstrings.... If I feel well enough, I might tackle high rep on Monday.

Kim, all that snow is making my kids jealous....LOL! Do you guys ever go skiing? Our Christmas tree is up now too, I was thinking how nice that your dd already wrapped the presents! I have cub scouts coming over for a meeting next week so I was thinking of not putting anything under that tree yet, never know who might want to take a peek and spoil the surprise.... LOL!

Rachel, my box was just left at the door too! I guess they don't bother knocking if they don't need a siggy. I'm with you though, as long as I get my stuff I don't really care....LOL!

Cendrine, that's a great question and I don't the answer. Our paper was specifically targeted to sodium, potassium and carbohydrates needed for fueling and replacing mineral losses and rehydrating during exercise. One thing I can tell you though. Part of the reason I have never used Gatorade myself or any sports drinks was because of the sugars. But the truth is, many of those bottles contain 2 or more servings so you shouldn't be drinking a whole bottle! LOL! Also, the usage for sports drinks is geared to intensity, duration and heat. So for the workouts we all do - unless maybe we haven't eaten enough, I think they are a waste of money. But I can see the value for people running long distances or football players out practicing all day. But back to your original question, I'll have to see what I find on that. We've been studying vitamins, minerals and how they're metabolised, toxicity, etc.

Good job on getting all your chores done! I'm going to try and do some cleaning tomorrow. You guys are all inspiring me to get busy and get my shopping done! Or at least, pull out the tree!

Cendrine, I forgot to respond about the triceps. Since I couldn't do the tricep pushups I substituted with a heavy weight and did overhead extensions. I think that's what got me! ;)

Yes Jo...SHe did say lulu lemon...I think I was putting a fancy spin on it:rolleyes: And yes there is no better advertising than Oprah. Lucky girl!;)

Ooop...gotta go...Our friends called for an impromptu get together. Have a great night.
