STS 6 Month Alumni - ****May 2012****

Also Cendrine, I plan to go to mom's after graduation so if you're here then, we can meet!

Kim, yes I remembered about you and the popup and had mentioned that to DH. I'm on the fence about the job opportunities as I really don't want to consult yet but will if that's my only option. I was hoping to consult like in another 5 years or so. Consulting is great because you can pick and choose your projects, but there's other drawbacks. So I'd still like to have a day-to-day job for now. (Not all consulting is like that, but for what I want to do! :D) We are probably going to have to store the trailer because it's too big for our property. The popup was okay, but this isn't! Don't worry about your inconsistencies! Look at me! LOL! We sometimes have to just take things as they come. Just like Cendrine with her move, me with school - don't beat yourself up! I'm so with you on the sandwich thing! Ugghhh! I've been in it a long time...but remember this...it makes you a stronger person!

Rachel, I have NO idea what I will do with all my free time! Maybe I'll clean my house! LOL! I can't believe my neighbor who doesn't work has a maid come in once a week! Really? I have no idea what she does. Glad you are busy. I'm with you; we are all sporadic posters lately which is fine, but hopefully we'll not lose touch!

Okay, I have to get back to some homework. Oh, and I am so sore from AfterBurn yesterday and really getting through it. Much more so then the last two times! I really got into it. My glutes (YAY) and hams (YAY) are screaming!!! I still love Cathe over the gym...haven't been there either! But love having options! Five weeks from today is the last day of school! Are you freaking kidding me? Thanks for being here for me! Now I really HAVE to get busy! :p I've got papers to write!!!

Nothing new here to report. Busy week. DH and I got to go on a date night, last night. I had got free tickets to an advance screening of the movie, "What to Expect when you're expecting" very cute movie.

We are headed out tomorrow morning to the cottage for the long weekend. Enjoy the weekend!

OK Yall Get ready!

My life is changing leaps and bounds every day! I am seriously considering doing a yoga teacher training with Tiffany Cruikshank. This is major major for me! It is a week long retreat in Portland in October and then another week long retreat in Aruba in January.
Yoga is changing my life every day and inspiring and empowering me to be better. I feel like a broken record but I guess I am so befuddled by it that I just can not put it into words! This is all just an unexpected scenario. I hope to put it all to words one day so that I can make it more clear.
Besides DH, Yall are the only ones in the know.
There is an application process so I could possibly not get in...LOL So the fact that I am sweating a little with anticipation is sort of silly. I am still putting pen to paper to weigh all of the pros and cons but it is certainly looking more and more like a go. I will keep you all posted.

Jo-I really am laughing about the camper because that just sounds like a shake down to me...and one that I would have facilitated too.;)
I could not imagine not keeping up with you guys. Yall have been in my life for so long.
I still have not got my travel info from OR yet so I am wondering if I am or not.?

Cendrine-I think it is the very fact that you are a generally super organized person that is lending to the smooth transitions that you are experiencing! I need you to come organize me. LOL Oh ...in your spare time of course. LOL

Kim-I think your ups and downs might be because just like when we took those weeks off during STS your body had that time to recoup. Then we came back super strong but we still were on a routine so we did not exceed that by doing more. Now it sounds like you might come off of your time off and then feel so great and use up your new found energy. Plus your work schedule has completely changed too and I am sure your body is needing some adjustment time. Take that you time. Schedule it is you have to because you more than anyone I know needs it!

More to come.;)

Rachel - DO IT!!! That is SO COOL! Isn't wonderful when something you never would have imagined changes your life? WOW! So a gal I used to work with got certified by attending something in Brazil. She now owns her own studio as of about a year ago. Like you, she just kind of was trying it out and it changed her life.

Quick update on the trailer. So once DH realized we needed a bigger truck, he decided we should just get a 5th wheel! LOL! So yup, that's what happened. We pick up truck Thursday and 5th wheel on Friday! We're crazy!

Super busy with school projects so I know I'l be real sporadic these next 4 weeks.

Kim, hope you're having a great long weekend!
Cendrine, you must be moving!

Happy Monday Girls!

Well I sent my application off in the mail yesterday so now all I have to do it wait and see if I am selected. I think it is a small group, maybe 20 or so, so that is a big if! I am alright either way. I really want to go but I am trying to be realistic. LOL!
Thank you Jo! I feel a stronger sense of self then I have ever felt so I just know this is the right path for me, where ever it leads to.

Kim, I will have some travel questions for you if it does go through. I have never traveled on my own...ever! So I might bend your ear on a few things.

Cendrine-Knee deep in boxes , I suppose;) If I get in I will be coming to Portland twice. The first time for DH and I's vacation and then the second for the retreat! Maybe I will see you twice in one year!

Jo-WOW! A truck and a trailer!!! I bet that was not what you expected when you first started looking for camping equipment! So much fun! I would love to see some pictures when you get the time and you get it home!

Off to 5:45am yoga!

Taking a quick rest before doing some more work, so I wanted to make an appearance here...lol!
Dhaka is out of town for training and we are doing little odds and ends while going to all our favorite places, seeing friends one last time and doing some cleaning... it's non stop around here. I just sent DD next door with some things from our fridge that I don't want to pack or throw away, it's the 3rd trip in the last two weeks or so...lol
we went to pick up our tickets for thwart world of color show at Disneyland tonight, I sent Ds to take a nap because he does not handle late nights well. Dd on the other hand is helping me clean.

Jo what all comes with your trailer-camper? We camped with friends who had a coffeemaker, microwave, burners, shower, sink, air and heat.... it's 5 star camping!

Rachel, getting into the training would be so fun, I hope you make it! And how nfun that training is in Portland! You definitely have to let me know when you are in town!

Kim, how is life in Canada? I have seen more than my fair share of Canadian license plates down here lately...lol, makes me think of you every time!

Sigh, holiday weekends go so fast! The weather wasn't great but it was still fun. There was all 13 of us there, my whole family. Isn't it amazing how we can love time with family members and yet they can drive you crazy! Got some jobs done, did some boating, canoeing, played some board games, bonfires. So it was good weekend. Jo, we used our pop up trailer to sleep in. It's nice to have at the cottage, kind of like an extra bedroom and I like a little space for some quiet time. Never regretted buying it!

Didn't work out at all over the weekend but lots of outdoor activities. Today DH and I went for a 4 mile run, trying to get a little more serious with the running for the next month.

Rachael Oh, I'm so excited for you!! I'll have to google Tiffany. Do you think you would like to teach?? Aruba:cool::cool: That would be so cool! Trust your instincts, and do what feels right to you!

Jo LOL on the trailer/truck! What fun!! Maybe you can do a road trip to celebrate graduation!! Would love to see a picture!
I know we have moved from a tent to a popup trailer, and people tell us that over the years we will keep trading up, lol. I think I could be a snow bird.(A canadian retiree that takes their RV to spend the winter in the southern USA). We will be one of the Canadian license plates that Cendrine keeps seeing. I totally can see DH and I getting a fifth wheel and doing long road trips when we retire.

Cendrien You sound so calm!! I agree with Rachel, your organization skills are making the move so easy for you! What day do you actually move?? I know you told me but I'm too lazy to look back. I'm sure the kids are enjoying all the special treats before moving.
I wonder if there are so many Canadian license plates down there for the hockey playoffs? The LA Kings are in the western finals vs Phoenix Coyotes.

Oh, I was going to tell you that DH bought me, the book "Outlander" for my Kindle, I'm really enjoying it. I think some of you recommended it to me. Cendrien, are you getting any time to try out the Kindle Fire??

Another day at Disneyland today...the kids wanted to go back to buy a souvenir and of course we had to take in a few rides... lol!

Ds got a coon skin cap that he has been wanting forever after I told him I was not going to buy him a toy that would just collect dust after a week at home... dd got a pink minnie mouse hat with matching glasses that she looks really cute in. I almost got myself a really pretty tinkerbell mug with pretty rhine stones on it, but decided to pass. Got a cookie instead....:eek: I so have to get serious when we get there!

Movers come tomorrow. Dh arrives at 10 tonight from his training and is going to help the movers with most of the stuff, so we might be shooed out of the house for more Disneyland!

Kim, we rode on a fire truck in Disneyland with two people from British Columbia I think they said. They told me to go to Disneyworld for comparison purposes so I told them you told me all about it! LOL!

The World of Color show last night was awesome, the kids loved it and it turns out we got a really good spot which was very fortunate, or dd would not have seen half of it because she is so short and I can't hold her for long periods of time because of my back.

I feel like an erratic writer jumping back and forth from one topic to another, but that is how my brain is going right now. The carpet guys bank is putting a hold on our check to ensure funds, which are there, but this is now putting a delay on our flooring schedule which means I have to reschedule the cleaners... ugh. I hope dh was able to talk the guy into staying on schedule, but I don't know for sure.

We take off Friday morning in our car for a two day road trip. We have tons of stuff for the kids to do, so they should think it lots of fun. Dh even got me a converter to play kindle from my car tape player, so he and I are going to be listening to an audio book! :D I have read several short books on the kindle, Kim and have figured out the library thing and have a huge whishlist! LOL!

I was browsing the free books new additions while the kids were eating dinner and discovered a free recipe book for healthy lunches for school. Since dh is now going to be working outside of the house, I will have to have stuff on hand for lunches, once the eating out with his new coworkers wears off.... so I downloaded it and have already earmarked, if I can call it that, tons of recipes to try.

Jo, I would love to meet up with you when you visit your mom! I feel embarrassed though, because I've been eating a lot of the wrong things lately and am not feeling or looking like a cathlete at the moment.... I plan to tackle that right away though!

Good Morning!!!

Cendrine, I watched a documentary last night called Ingredients that reminded me of you and all the little farm field trips that you take the kids to. There were lots of farms in Oregon featured so you should have no trouble finding good farmers markets or coops to get in with. Portland even has a winters farmers market...How cool is that:cool::cool:
We are for sure coming to Portland in August so I will keep you updated on that! It would be so fun to meet up and hopefully I will be accepted to the teacher training but I am not sure how rigorous their process might be.:) It's alright though whatever the outcome.

Kim-I agree but I think this whole year is flying by fast..but holidays do seem to fly by. I read a proverb about a man saying he loved being bored because it made time slow down. (of course I am paraphrasing ;) but that is the gist of it)
Where my friends house is in Mexico, there are so many "snow birds"! Canadians every where Kim. LOL I am sure they wonder why my friend from TX needs to spend the winter in Mexico. LOL!!!

Well I have been keeping myself busy with little house projects while I wait for a reply for the teacher training. Dh is pouring me a concrete sidewalk to my parking area and I have been making little things for my workout room. I upholstered a piece of wood with some beautiful fabric to hang on the wall (kind of like a headboard). This way when I practice kicking up into handstand I will no longer be kicking up into a mirror:eek:
Then I did the same to a smaller piece of wood to pin some goals on...I am not too old for goals! LOL

SO I have no idea what I will do today...Adventure awaits!

DH and I did 4 mile runs both Tuesday and Wednesday! Yay for us!:roll eyes: Today I had to spend some the evening writing up my intern's evaluation. Each therapist has to take an intern once a year, it's part of their university coursework, they are paid. They are with us for 8 weeks so we have to give them an evaluation after 4 weeks and then at the end. SInce I don't work as a manager I'm not use to giving feedback at all so I always find it stressful and takes my hours to write up.:roll eyes: My student is actually really good so big issues to tackle at least.

Cendrine Good luck with the move!! Hope all goes smoothly!

Rachael I googled Tiffany's website, the course sounds great!

Tomorrow is DH's birthday and he wants to go out for dinner so looking forward to that. DD and I made him some peanut butter cookies tonight as that is his favourite treat!

Only 3 weeks till the half marathon but the weather is awful today, super windy and rainy so instead of doing the planned 12 mile run outside, I did Intensity followed by cardio coach #2 on the treadmill.

Had friends over yesterday evening which was fun but stayed up to lated and had too many treats. Just relaxing the rest of this rainy day, spending lots of time on my Kindle reading Outlander.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Well I will definitely be coming to Portland in October because...I
Got
Accepted!!!!!

I am going to teacher training with Tiffany Cruikshank!
This is the most amazing thing that has happened to me other than DH! I think I am still in a little bit of shock so I will have to process it and then write more later but I just wanted yall to be the first to know other than DH!

Gotta go to work so I can pay for it now. ;):p:DTTYS
