--->STS 6 month alumni-Last week of August<---

FourAM

Cathlete
It is just so hard for me to believe that this month is almost over with.
The holidays will be upon us before we know it!

I needed more sleep so badly! Dh and I went to visit our friends last night and were out way too late for my liking and of course the cat is not on that schedule so I was up at 6:30...I am thinking I might try to nap for an hr or so on the couch.

I just thought I would get us started...BBL when I am not so foggy.:p

Cendrine...The beach sounds like so much fun. And you sound like you are full of energy today! You know I think I heard on the news or somewhere that they were thinking about not teaching cursive in schools anymore. I think that would be such a shame. I still remember how I could not wait to learn cursive to be like my older brother and sister...just like your dd. LOL I hope they keep it up.

Today has been another productive day. Esp, surprising considering I did not go back to sleep. I am sure I will be wiped out tonight. I have been working on making space in this house and so yesterday and today I have been working on my closet and the big shelf that DH built me a while back. I hadn't really used it to its full potential so I am trying to organize and just get rid of the stuff that is cluttering me up. LOL
It is feeling great.

Kim, we are not effected by the hurricane at all. It has its pros and cons. On the one hand we could use 10 inches of rain but on the other hand the trees are so dry that any wind is dangerous. THe other day we had a storm blow through and tree limbs were snapping all around us. We had 2 really big limbs in the yard so I am hoping that when the rain does come...maybe next weekend...that it is a gentle rain. Unfortunately last weeks storm only generated about a tenth of rain for us so we got all the wind and no benefit.

OK now I am off break better get to it. TTYL

I did cardio and weights today.
I heard about some schools dropping cursive
it's true that kids will hardly be using it but it's such a fine motor skill! Anyways, I'm happy that my kids actually want to do it! LOL
school's slow today, so gotta go back and keep things moving.... ;)

Since I finished the last week of rotation, I did not do any cardio today. I had 2 yoga classes though. One was a restorative class. It was super nice. I think this is one you would really like Cendrine. It felt like you had a total body massage by the time it was over. Really GREAT!

Other than that we are just enjoying the day...It was 85 today. That is a far cry from 105 so we felt like it was air conditioned outside. :rolleyes:Back to reality tomorrow though but I think it will be raining this next weekend so I am really looking forward to that.

Better go think about dinner...I am going to try a quinoa "risotto". I will let you know how it goes.

Got home about 8pm last night. I was kind of dragging toward, fun weekend but I was paying for it today!
Got home, made supper and got caught up in finishing my book and never got a workout. It was one of Maeve Binchy books, love her books!!!

The kids and I did go for a short walk and were excited to see that the park they are building behind/across from us is getting playground equipment installed.
Tomorrow the landscaper is coming over to go over our final plans, he is going to do the landscaping mid Sept! I'm very excited about it.

Rachael you have been so consistent with your exercise lately! It seems likely I've been doing an average of 3 weeks out of every 4 week rotation and somehow I don't quite finish. I feel icky after all the restaurant eating and lack of exercise, hopefully the start of school next week will help me get back in a regular routine.

Cendrine That's great that dd is so motivated to learn! What a nice day at the beach!

You know Kim...I think if I had as much going on as you do it would be a whole lot harder to make as much time for myself. But try to remember to do so when you can...You know it will make you feel so much better. :)
Right now, I think I need this routine more than ever. If I did not have it I probably would fall into depression just from the lack of purpose getting up and having something to do gives you. You never realize how much you appreciate a daily routine until it is taken away and then you realize how much of it you need...It is easy to complain about working and being tired and very hard to appreciate until its gone. LOL Boy how come wisdom does not come to you when you are young. :D

The quinoa risotto did turn out nice all except for the cheese combo I chose. SOmething about the mix of feta, parmesan reggianno (sp) and goat did not make for a happy combo. It was edible but I am debating on the left overs ...You win some and you learn some!:p:cool:

I did the MMA boxing this morning and going to yoga in a few so I am off. I hope yall have a wonderful day.

TTYL

OK update on the quinoa...LOL
I don't think it was the combo of cheeses...It might have been the amount just making it a little to salty for my taste. But I had it today for lunch and since it was the only thing that I was eating and not too much of it, it was not that bad.

Just wanted to pop in and share . Have a great day!

Oh, Rachael, all this yoga is making you so wise!;) I have to agree with every word you "said". Feeling useful and having structure to your life is so important. We spend so much time as therapists assisting people to regain the "roles" that they do. I hear from so many of my patients how unsettled, depressed they feel when they are off work for awhile. They are often happy to go in for therapy twice a week as it gives structure to their days.

I looked back at the workout manager and really I've done well with my workouts for the year except for Feb (moving and jury duty:rolleyes::rolleyes:), and May other wise fairly consistent 4-6 times/week. A little less in the summer with camping and stuff but then I did do walks, bike rides etc that aren't in the WM. It's good to have that info as I was feeling so lazy and then to look back and see all the workouts I've done, makes me feel much better.

Met with the landscaper today, he's going to start Sept 12th! I got to choose plants, shrubs, rocks, patio stones.:confused: Any suggestions? I guess the weather is so different our vegetation will not be the same. Decorative grasses are really in style right now so will like some of those in the rock garden.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I got a pair of Cathe weight lifting gloves in the USA! They are really cute!

Did you see the cover for the new dvds? I really like it!

Me too Kim, On the covers;) They are already getting me pumped up! LOL Now if they would get here before my birthday in October I would feel really special.:D
It is great to have the workout manager to look back at esp. when you are feeling a little down. Then you can see how much you have accomplished. Not to mention all that you have had on your plate. Most people would have quit working out all together.

I really wish I was better "versed" so to speak on the landscaping. Our yard is a country one and there is not too much landscaping. We do have a rock garden around our porch. Then a few years back DH an I did a concrete/rock side walk to our garden shed. But as far as plants go...Well you know I just started keeping things alive this year. LOL So maybe you can post pictures and I will steal all your landscapers ideas . :D:D:D

Since it is self practice day at the yoga studio, I thought I would save my gas and self practice at home. So p90x yoga it is for the day. Can not wait for Cathe's yoga dvds!

Have a great day. TTYL

Hope you enjoy your time with Tony, rachael! Did you DH ever do the P90X workouts?

I did a long bike ride with dd, she complains that I'm to slow:rolleyes: No Sept rotation posted yet.

OK exciting day for me!

I got my very first back bend today at yoga class. I am talking ever in my life! LOL I remember being in school and thinking that a back bend would never be something I can do since I have not ever been in gymnastics. Well guess who was wrong about that! :D:D:D

LOL Kim...No DH never did get into those p90x's. He would pull one out every now and again but he is more of a 15 min at a time kind of exerciser. ;):p

Gotta go. DH and I have to run to a friends real quick.

TTYL

I have a big butt! Oh you girls! I am soft, flabby and out of shape! Where did that great muscle go? Actually it's not quite that bad but that's how I feel!!!

Alright finished up finals 2 weeks ago - okay...have to share... I got a perfect score through my entire session for my Systems Analyst class. Yes, that is perfect assignments, quizes, midterm and FINAL! Yesterday finished up last bits of work at old job. Am slammed at new job because of the hurricane - been working 12+ hours a day. Decided to keep with 2 classes one more session so I will still graduate next year (then I'll drop to 1) so still no time to work out!! My MIL is here from Ohio for 9 days and I've barely had any time with her! DH took time off so they've been doing stuff. She is here for another week. Anywho, just finished week 1 of this session...oh made Dean's list again. And just finished a quiz so thought I'd drop in and say HI!!! Can't believe I've been so MIA!

In spite of all this I did find time to buy myself some great Frye harness boots on Zappos. They showed up yesterday (thank goodness for online shopping!!!). I've been wanting a pair for 5 years and finally used left over birthday money (I've been saving) to buy them.

That's the summary of me! I'm still here with a now bigger than ever BUTT! Oh, I got a ad today from BeachBody for a P90X2 preorder. Did any of you get it?

Rachel, I am WHOOHOOing HIGH 5ing you on that backbend!!! You rock girl - like pretzel! Oh I can imagine how you feel! Don't you love doing something you didn't think you could do! So no worko?

Kim, landscaping is so fun isn't it? I'll bet you're anxious to get your yard all put together and purty! :D Which Mauve book are you reading? Tell me tell me!

Cendine, back to school huh? School started here yesterday and I got stuck behind some school buses. I thought it started next week! What no cursive? That's crazy!

Alright off to bed! I'm STILL here! So truly, I'm thinking, this session with 2 classes then definitely drop to 1, then back to the gym, Cathe's should be here and I can regain some of my life back and shrink my A$$! Miss you guys!

:confused:;):D:p:eek::rolleyes::(:):cool::eek::(:);)

Goodness Jo, that is quite the post!!! We've missed you as well and look forward to when life is more settled for you!

I was reading "The Echo" from Binchy. The only book of hers that I haven't enjoyed that much was "evening class".

I did look at the P90X2 preordered as I have completed P90X before but haven't order it. I'm looking forward to Cathe's shorter/lower impact workouts right now. All the Beach body products are so high impact, I really noticed it with Insanity. I haven't ruled it out yet though, maybe it would be a good winter rotation if I use Cathe new ones for the fall.

No Sept rotation posted:( Cathe hasn't been very consistent with that recently.

I'm off work today until Wednesday, one last long weekend before summer is over:(:( We will head to the lake tomorrow morning. Then next week I start working full time (as one of therapist is still off work caring for her sick mom) with no holidays booked till January! (except Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day) seems like a long stretch of work to someone who is used to working part time.

I've signed dd up for piano and swimming lessons for the fall. DS wants to sign up for hockey and curling. He is starting high school and is nervous about it! I am kind of balking at the whole schedule of the fall. I'm really enjoyed lots of long weekends, and freedom in the evenings during the summer.

I haven't worked out in a few days (out with my girlfriends to a wine tasting/potluck last night till late) so should do something today but no plans yet. I know you have heard this from me before but I want to concentrate on my diet this fall. I'm great with exercise but my diet:eek: often could be improved. I"ve been reading the 17 Day Diet and might try that, it seems like a very sensible, structured healthy diet. I think I need to wean myself off of sugar, white flour that I've been eating way too much of this summer. I've gained a few lbs and it all sits right on my tummy.

Accolades All around Jo! It sounds like you are slammed. Nope, no worko;) here so you could send me half of yours and I might could help you out. LOL If you get back to us maybe you could tell me how the hurricane affected you?

I think eating sometimes can be the hardest thing , Kim. A lot of times the bad for you stuff is the quickest and when you have all the stuff you have on your plate with the kids and now working full time it is easier to grab for that. I think , though, with just a little planning you will be successful. Once you get the hang of having the good stuff available and a few go to easy recipes, you will see how quick they are too.

Not too much going on today...at least not interesting any way. I butt kicked around here cleaning house and now I have a little down time. We have some friends having a get together tonight but the invite said that it starts at 9pm:confused: That is pretty late for me to start anything so I told DH if I go , I will be leaving early.

Well I think I am going to go reward my self in this clean house with a good read.

I have had the worst time posting without the screen freezing up! I am not deserting... just not very lucky with the forum... just saying hi for now, I have to get us prepped for camping, hopefully I'll have time later!
