Strength ratio of quads to hamstring

Cathe,

What is the correct strength ratio of quads to hamstrings?

I just finished Meso 3 - Legs - Squat Rack. In this rotation I also included the leg extension and the lying leg curl machines. I am able to go 40 pounds heavier on the leg extension machine than on the lying leg curl machine.

With that said, how would you suggest I get the right balance between these two muscle groups? I have all of your dvds so it's no problem to do any workouts that you recommend.

Thanks Cathe!

You rock!!!!

Not Cathe, and don't know the proper ratio, but to strengthen the hammies --- THESE!

and if you have access to a glute/ham machine - here it is on that one.

The first time my trainer put me on this machine I thought anyone who could do these must be a freak of nature. How the H? No way. I hated this simple machine like no other. Now, I have a love-hate relationship with it. Soon, I'll be adding a resistance band around my shoulders that is hooked to the bottom of the machine for addt'l weight. They are tough, but effective. Good luck.

(Not Cathe, but...) I've read that hamstrings should be about 70% the strength of quads for correct muscular balance.

HTH!

Thank you Lorrie and Kathryn.

Lorrie, I appreciate you taking the time to attach the youtube clips. Those exercises do look hard! (But I can't wait to try them!)

Kathryn, if 70% is correct, then my hammies have some catching up to do. :(

Now I'm wondering -- How do I do this? Should I do "strength" for the hamstrings and endurance for the quads? I'm really not sure. Cathe??????
