Storms a'comin'!

Well, they've upgraded our Watch to a Warning, with still the same mix but more of it and lasting all through the day and into the evening.

Now, I may get into work okay, but getting home might be a problem. I hate these kinds of decisions. I get so angst-ridden and can't sleep.

We're suppose to be getting an ice/snow mix this evening. I'm hoping we do, so that I don't have to go to work tomorrow.

It's 3am in Columbus Ohio and I can finally hear that the freezing rain is now just plain rain. I hope and pray the roads are okay when I have to get to work at 2pm because it's hard telling what's going to happen next. I almost stayed for overtime and was kicking myself when I didn't ($$) but I'm glad now because the freezing stuff started hitting as soon as got home. I'm terrified to drive on ice.

We have ice. It's pouring off the roof. Amazing. DH and DD have a two hour delay, but I bet they cancel school. I have a doctors appointment at 10. OY!

You know, those 2 hour delays are nice to a point, but when they they hold out the full closure of schools until the very end of the delay, it gets annoying for those of us who work. Just close them already! We have sleet/1/4" ice and more in store for us...I didn't pack them lunches so they better close them :)

My kids slept with pj's backwards and inside-out for good luck. A parent told me at a mtg last night that her kids also sleep with a spoon under the pillow and flush 3 ice cubes down the toilet! Desperate times call for deperate measures, I guess, lol...

We are getting hit now. All the schools are closed but of course work never closes so here I sit at work. I know it is going to be bad as we have had lightning this morning and that only happens when the storm is a bad one. They upgraded us from a Winter Storm Warning to a Heavy Snow Warning. Oh lucky us.

The snow is a coming on down. Predicting up to 12 inches by the time it is over. What fun that will be to go home and have to plow and shovel :)

I hope everyone is safe. Please DO NOT drive in a heavy downfall. Just stay home and try to work from home if you can. If you're at work, leave NOW!! I still remember what it was like living in the suburbs and driving in bad weather. I'm SUCH a scaredy-cat.

NYC will have lots of wind and some rain today is all (and with the subways, it really wouldn't matter if it were a lot worse).

I guess that's the one that just went past us. Northern Arkansas and Missouri got quite a bit of snow, but central Arkansas didn't get anything worth mentioning.

I guess it wasn't quite organized at that point. ;)

We caught the tail end of this in the south! Two snow days which amount to 4 days off in a row since they were Thursday and Friday. A "Winter Storm" here is probably like comparing a sniffle to pneumonia, to what you get. I am enjoying my snow days though! We have had a ball! Wore the snow right off the hill yesterday! It was only about 28 degrees, and just a pretty gentle snow, Yeah, that's a winter storm here. We buddled up and stayed out all afternoon! Hot soup and cocoa when we came home. It was sooo very nice! This is the first time I've visited this forum in months. I've just been so busy!
Hope you get your snow days without any negative fallout.

boy they really predicted something bad and we only got about 5-6 inches. This happens every time they try to predict a storm. They hype it up saying we are going to get 6-12 inches and then nothing. OK 5-6 inches is something but we are MI so it kinda is nothing :D

Now when they don't see a storm coming and only tell us hours before we are hammered, such as New Years Eve with a foot of snow. What a fun drive home that night was and then shoveling the next day.

I work in Ann Arbor and I think there is only a couple inches if that. I don't know what it will be like when I get home closer to Lansing - but reading everything says 5 inches.

OK - don't we just love the weather people

Snow day here in Toronto -- I'm home with my daughter. We drove to school this morning (what is normally a 5 minute drive took 15 minutes), found there were only about 5 kids at the school and 4-5 teachers, they said they would find something to do but it wouldn't be a regular school day, so we drove back home! There are some white lumps in the driveway that I think might be cars, but I'm not sure. :)

That was a dud of a storm. Here in Brighton, MI they were predicting 8-12 and we only received 4 inches. The weather people were WAY off on this one. I think the local schools only closed because of the prediction on 8-12 inches. Our school buses usually still run in 4 inches, what a waste of an emergency day. My DH even called and told me the roads were not that bad and he did not know why they called school?

It's STILL snowing here. We're probably about 10 inches now. I've shoveled three times and each time I go out there it's like I haven't shoveled yet!

Stebby, I can't believe the Toronto board didn't close the schools. Every other board did!

Shelley I feel for you!

We received 11.3 inches in 24 hours. I did a total of 1 1/2 hour workout (including all of Drill Max) & then went out to shovel...WOW, I didn't realize how much it snowed overnight! It took me 1 1/2 hours of HARD shoveling non-stop to get everything done. I didn't look up once that whole time!

Luckily I had today scheduled off work b/c I fly out at 6AM tomorrow morning for a work trip to the Bahamas!!! SEE YOU LATER SNOW!!!

Thank goodness they aren't calling for anymore b/c I need to leave my house about 3AM in the morning. x(

Stay safe everyone!
