stomach fat argggg

Hi Ladies,

Ok..kinda venting but real question. I have been doing good working out 5-6 days a week nutrition better etc... I even changed up workout this month to go heavier etc.. I am focused more on size of clothes vs scale so I don't have a get me off the ledge moment if the scale does not move.

I can tell legs toner, back fat is now like a dent vs when I was heavier it would be like a back crease, booty dimples going away, little lines in my arms coming from definition even and slight wanna be line in abs...but for real the stomach fat seems not to be budging and I know progress is probably happening but how or at what point will you actually start to see belly fat melt away to see the six pack underneath that is waiting to display itself..heck if my stomach was just smooth and firm I would be jumping for joy. When I do a sit up or crunches the top stomach and bottom stomach don't bulge as much as they use to but I am just trying to figure out when that progress will happen..

Any feedback or things to share will be great....

Hi

I know exactly what you mean. In the last few months I've really cleaned up my eating, cut down on eating carbs, stopped drinking alcohol etc. Also I've been sticking to a Cathe rotation each month and working out 5-6 times a week. I'm really pleased I've dropped alot of weight and I'm down two dress sizes.

However, where most of my weight loss is clearly noticeable I still have these two lumps of fat stuck on the tops of my thighs, namely fat lol. Granted my stomach is well defined and my other areas are okay. But these two areas I think I'm going to have to live with lol. I fully understand that we can't spot reduce and the last place we lose weight is the first place we originally put the weight on. But its very frustrating.

I bought myself a new pair of jeans, but the lady at the trying on area advised me not to get a specific pair of jeans as they showed up my "ledge". Before she mentioned this I hadn't really thought about it. But now I've decided against getting a pair of skinny jeans and sticking to boot cut.

I've always been a pear shape and I always carry weight on my rear end. I think I'm going to just have to be thankful for what I've achieved and make the best of it. Basically, be happy in my own skin. On the face of it I've got alot more things to worry about than my but lol.

Sorry to be no help but I think you have to make the best of what you've got and wear clothes that suit your shape. But I know how frustrating it can feel when you've worked so hard.

I have the same problem--belly fat. Everything else is looking pretty good but that fat just won't go. Some days I feel like I can live with it but other times it really bothers me. Makes some jeans uncomfortable. I too work out 5 or 6 times a week tho I don't go heavy any more and that never helped anyway. The only time I really lost it and my stomach was actually concave was when I hurt my back and was in bed for a month with another 3 weeks of recovery. So obviously no workouts. I was eating only soup, a nutrition drink and nothing else. No appetite at all thankfully or how much weight I could have gained flat on my back for that time. I could not even walk. I lost 15 lbs in 4 weeks.
So my conclusion is diet. Tho I could never subsist on that diet up and around and doing stuff. I would faint from lack of food.

I don't know how old any of you other ladies are, however I have noticed the older I get, the harder it is to lose belly fat. When I was younger my abs were my crowning glory. But now, not so much. It's very difficult to keep the fat off that area. Something to work for, right?

Okay, here is what you don't want to hear, it will happen within the next 12 months. But only, if you continue to work out and eat clean. This means watch the sodium and stay away from junk food.

Also the display of the six pack is partially dependent on your genetics. Everybody is a little different.

Body fat loss is really what you're looking for with a six pack. I recommend using a food scale in addition to eating clean. If you don't use the scale you could be off on your measurements. I recommend measuring to the gram not to the else.

Leigh peele has an old YouTube video about why you would want to do that.

Ok....i know the only way for me to do this is go on a huge lock down clean-eating-learning-to-be-hungry fest. That is the only way to lose the weight and the accompanying belly fat. I have at least 10 lbs to go, preferrably 15 to get that cut look i want and get to my size 6 and get rid of my belly fat. So even though i am a solid size 8 at 5'9", i still have the belly fat goin' on.

Also, i really don't want to hear anyone tell me that i am doing something wrong if I am hungry....because that is a bunch of bunk!:). If my body wants to eat carbs and cr@p it is going to be screaming for it and making me a bit miserable in the process. I won't be starving myself, but i will be hungry! I truly know what it means to eat almost a pound of veggies in one sitting with some lean protein and then just crying out for bread or rice, but knowing i must deny myself to meet my goal!

Some may say being a size 6 is too small for my height, but it really is not. I was so there before my last two babies. I know what i have to do, and its not a magic formula but hard work!

Hi all

All the responses have been excellent. I've always carried more fat round my hips than my stomach. Thats just genetics, I think. However, I went through an early menopause and before I switched to HRT, the fat seemed to shift away from my hips to my midrift, it seemed overnight.

I do think hormones and genetics play a big part. I really do not want to lose any more weight, overall I am perfectly happy with my weight and shape. However, the little bags of blubber that hang off my rear are very unsightly.

I have incorporated alot more body brushing and moisturising as I do notice also my skin in these areas does get a bit dryer than others. I'm 46 by the way.

But the portion size and sodium content of food is something I will try and alter. With sodium its difficult for me as I don't add salt, don't cook with salt, but its the hidden salts that are a problem to me.
