Stinky Shoes

MAYNARDSMOM

I need some serious help with stinky soccer cleats!! I mean these are B-A-D!! Real B-A-D!!! They smelllike cat pee & no a cat didn't pee in them. I have them in the washer now with baking soda & then liquid softener. They're spinning out now. DS put softener in & said they still stunk then.

Someone PLEASE help me!!!! :confused::confused:

I had the very same problem with both my boy's athletic shoes. I tried everything and nothing worked. I had to pitch them and buy another pair.
Boy, do I know that odor!! What's worse is having to pick them up from practice with those smelly shoes! I would ask them to put the shoes in the trunk, but the odor crept inside the car anyway!!!
You have my sympathy:(

I have banned the shoes from the house!! They are in the dryer now, still stinky! Now a wet stinky.

The other morning my DS was spraying them with my body spray. It was funny. I told him that wasn't strong enough to cut through that odor!!

Try tying them up in a garbage bag with w/ some charcoal. The charcoal should absorb the smell. If it doesn't, then they are already in a garbage bag and out they go!

Febreeze spray might work. True story: I used it to get the cigarette smell off a doll that was given to DD when she was a toddler and believe me, this lovely doll just reeked of smoke! Worth a try before you toss them out.

Put them out in the sun for the day. It sounds too simple to work but it will get that stank outta them cleats for sure

did you see this story yesterday . . has she lost her marbles! Every kid gets stinkfoot!

That is sick!

Tami,
My husband told me to tell you that if you can't remove the odor and end up buying new shoes.....start out with odor eaters inserts to prevent it from happening again. :D
My oldest boy was very bad about leaving his smelly shoes in the sport's locker at school for months, after the season ended. Can you imagine?! LOL

I forgot to mention....Nan, I was reading your response when my husband came home. We both chuckled. You are so funny!!

Scary thing is

there are probably some people who have done this already - my kid would never speak to me again if I made him get a needle in his foot for something like this.

He bucked getting one in his rear as he layed there in the ER with a clearly broken arm still in his football uniform! My husband pretty much lifted his arse up and to the side and I told the nurse to hit em with the Demoral.

ten mins. later he was amazed at no pain . . .but hates needles to this day.

That is crazy!!! The things people do.

I did get them out of the dryer & they were somewhat better. We'll see how they are after the game tonight.

I know what your going through. I have 4 boys who play club soccer! I'm specially having problems with my oldest, he plays soccer for school and competive soccer. He goes from school practice to club soccer practice.

Stinky feet

I take old socks and put in either Kitty Litter or Baking soda. Tie the socks and leave them in the shoes.
