Stevia

To those of you who use (have used) stevia as a sweetner:

Which do you prefer - powdered, tablets or liquid?

Is there any (much) difference between the different brands or is it OK to buy the cheapest?

Thanks in advance for your comments :7

Tablets?

I like the liquid for beverages (and some new flavored liquids to make flavored water). I also like to use Sweatleaf powder.

Kathryn - when searching online I was a few companies that make tablets. Reminds me of way back when I was a kid and people used to have some sort of sweetner in tablet form that they would add to their coffee or tea. (Can't remember what it was.)

Anyway, I like the idea of adding the flavored ones to water. Noticed a couple of websites that had about a dozen different flavors. Good idea :9

Hi. I use the powder. I also purchased it from vitacost in packets and a jar for spooning it out. Love it!

Be careful with getting the cheapest. Sometimes they are not "whole". I picked mine up at Trader Joe's and almost grabbed the cheapest. Heck, the container was twice the size for half the price! An employee clued me in that the smaller, more expensive container was "whole", therefore required much less, so there were actually more servings in that tiny container. It takes so little of this stuff to get the job done! Too much and you ruin the taste...makes it bitter and gross.

Yes, most of the time, there is some sort of filler added, because it's very difficult to measure out the tiny amount of stevia that you need. One of the containers of stevia I've seen is very small, with a teenie, tiny, itsy-bitsy scoop in it (like one a fly would use!) and over 100 servings per container!

What I like about Sweetleaf stevia is that it uses inulin fiber as a filler, for an added health benefit (helps feed good bacteria in the gut).

I just tried some of their chocolate/raspberry liquid stevia in some water yesterday---yum!

Katherine, that is the same kind that I use! I put just one pack in my coffee mug. Which, my coffee mug holds about 3 cups of coffee in it, not that I drink all of it, but I don't have to refill it at all. Yup, that's lazy in the morning for ya. Anyway I prefer it to sugar, like if I go out and have no stevia and have to use sugar my coffee just doesn't taste as good to me, so I usually can hardly even finish one cup.
