I just got done doing Step Works. Haven't done that one in a while and I forgot how much I love it. Also, it was my first Cathe video back in 1998. It always puts a smile on my face.
I agree, it's the hidden gem of Cathe step workouts, even the warm up rocks, I love the 'slow basic, repeater down' sequence, her choreography is truly inspired, unique, and challenging; but not so tricky that it'll get your brain (or feet) in knots
I agree, Jo-Jo! I LOVE Step Works. Cathe seems to be having so much fun in that one! So much fun, in fact, that it's intensity sneakes up on you! To me, the bpms in that one seem pretty high.
I love it too. I think the only reason it doesn't rank up there with PowerMax is because the music isn't very memorable. I have the Cardio Hits DVD and love to do the warm up and combo one of SW, then sections 2 and 3 of PowerMax. Although many times, once I get started on Step Works, I'll just do the whole darn thing all the way through!
Diane, I think you're probably right about the music. I like it, but I don't come away humming any tunes like I do with, say, "Rainmaker" on IMAX 2. Also, on my DVD (at least), the volume is rather low on SW (as it is on another DVD on IMAX 1, drat! ). And I really like to crank up the music. But music nit-picks aside, Step Works is a great classic and I really enjoy it!
I remember when it first came out how it felt like the Mount Everest of step tapes to me -- what a treat it was to do it recently and find that it was easier (not EASY, just easiER! ;-)
Your combo of SW and PM sounds awesome -- I may just have to give that one a whirl!
Since I had gotten most of Cathe's workouts as part of a 26-workout package, Step Works sat on my shelf for a while. Once I did it, I was sorry I had waited so long. It's a real gem, intensity and choreography-wise!
