Step Workouts

Hi all - I'm doing step now. Up till about two months ago, I did most Kickbox for cardio. I have been doing Kelli Roberts Ultimate Step, Body TEch and Fitness Formula (Kari)and Gay Gaspur's Greatest STep Workout. Been afraid to try Cathe, but just got her Step Heat. During the learning process, is it OK to do step four or five times a week along with strength training. I find that if I wait too long in between step workouts, I forget and keep tripping up and get very frustrated. For example I've almost got Body TEch down, but still trip up especially when back is to the TV - drives me crazy. I want to start Step Heat this week, but I'd like to do it three consecutive days during the week and once on the weekend. Is this too much.

Thanks for your advice.

Mar:)

Hi Mar.

Yes, I think it would be too much. My opinion, mind you. Your legs/body needs to recover, and believe it or not, your mind is still working subconciously on how to get those *!@#$ routines down! ;) so that the next time you tackel the workout it gets easier.

How about stepping every other day, with strength training in between?

Hi Mar, I agree with Runathon. Give your legs time to rest. Also give yourself time to learn the choreography in your videos. I usually give myself two weeks to learn Cathe's step workouts, and even now I still make a lot of mistakes. Bothers the hell out of me, but I have to remember to make my workouts fun. If I allow myself to get frustrated, that will really affect my motivation.

Good luck,
Pinky

Thanks for the advice. Also can either of you comment on the Classic Step workout with Kari and Jah Blahnik. Harder than Body TEch or Cathe (older ones. Thanks.

You could try lowering your step to just 4" for a few days a week when you are doing new workouts that you don't know yet. Only use 6" or higher when you get the routine down. I have done this with a 5 step workouts per week schedule and haven't had any signs of overtraining.
