Step workouts per week

Cathe, I have heard from other instructors that people should generally limit their step workouts to 3 times per week. I don't have all of your workouts, but with the exception of Boot Camp, it seems like most have a pretty significant step component. I'd like to use your workouts more times per week. You have so much variety, and your routines are creative and fun to keep me thinking and sweating at the same time. I have trouble enjoying my old DVDs from other instructors now! I wonder if you know if that 3 times per week limit is just for people with knee problems, or what? I know you can't give advice for any one person's situation, and I know to watch for signs of injury. I'm just looking for general guidelines. Thanks!

Hi Cathy! Nice to hear from you. Generally speaking that would be how much I would recommend doing it mostly for that fact that I think your body responds less enthusiastically and efficiently to something it does all the time. Initially, especially if you love it, you can do it more often (try at least to do it non-consecutively though). But after about 4 to 6 weeks, I would try to cut back to doing step 3 times per week. By the way, I also offer non-step kickbox cardio workouts such as Kick, Punch, and Crunch and Cardio Kicks. These are alot of fun too.

Take Care!

That was a good question. I do step workouts more than 3 times a week since I only have the following so far:

Step Blast
Kick Punch and Crunch
Rythmic Step
Cardio and Weights
Step, Pump and Jump (which I LOVE) this one only has a step routine at first, then its all on the floor with no equipment. Ah, and weights.

I alternate between those during the week, until I get more.

PS: Cathe, in order to master some of your moves, we need to practice more than 3 times a week!!! At least I do!!
:D :D
