Should I buy SJP if I don't plan on using a barbell? I would use dumbells. Also, I don't know if I'm ready for Step Blast yet.

Debbie,
Absolutely! There is no exercise done in SJP with the barbell that can't be done easily with barbells, just stick to a weight that works for you. For example, Cathe uses a 40lb. barbell for squats and you could sub with a 20 in each hand, or lighter depending on your level.
As far as being "ready" for Step Blast, don't worry about it. It is an awesome and FUN workout that you can ease into. Just start with the warm-up and do what you can from there learning each combo as you go. The best part about the DVD of these two workouts is the HUGE number of premixes for each video and between videos. You can break down, add on, shorten, lengthen, etc. to your premixin' heart's content.
Have fun!

Debbie,
You're welcome, just don't swear at me while Cathe has you doing low end after low end with 40 pounds!}( }(

I recently received this one and I really like it! I do not have a barbell either. I tend to go lighter on my lower body and will hold 12-15 pound dumb bells for her squat section. It's a lot of fun!! Susan

I almost always use dumbells unless I'm trying to go really heavy. I'd rather hold 2-20lb. dumbells than a 40lb. barbell. I think it's because I just hate having to change weights.

You'll love both these workouts and just take it one step:))) at a time and you'll get all the choreography down in no time.

Have fun,
