Step Blast vs. Rhythmic Step

Is the choreography harder in SB or RS? I know the intensity is higher in SB but I'm wondering about the footwork.

Thanks :)

I agree they are about the same but I don't think they are too hard. You can probably learn the after two or three times. You just have to pause and rewind where needed. :)

step blast has much better music and much more interesting moves imho, tho i still do RS on light days

i think rhythmic step's moves are a little "harder" in that they arent comfortable or intuitive and i notice that in the later cathe wo's she has dropped or modified a lot of the moves--for example, in RS you do triples all the way around the step--4 of them, this is annoying and difficult--in later wo's she has you doing two triples around the step following a two-knee repeater which is just more physically comfortable.

I found Step Blast to be harder to learn, esp. combo 3! I think Step Blast is also more physically demanding because of those blasts you do at the end. But, Rhythmic Step is my favorite because it was the first complex choreo workout I ever mastered, and it paved the way for more me to try other advanced complex instructors like Christi, Seasun and Rob Glick.

It took me longer to learn Rhythmic Step. That being said, the two tapes were introduced several years apart, and in that time I'm sure I got real used to Cathe choreography. After so long with her you can catch on to everything she does more easily.
Just Do It! :)

I like Step Blast a lot, and find the choreography complex in a fun way but it wasn't too difficult to learn.

I've had RS for years and still haven't managed to do it - for me, the choreography is the hardest of all workouts I have.

It took me a little while to learn Rhythmic Step, but I love it because it is so much fun. The music is great, and I find that music adds a great deal to a workout. I watched Step Blast on Fit TV, and I am ordering that DVD next. I loved the music, and the choregraphy was tricky but looked doable.

The key is practice, practice, practice, and it all becomes worthwhile when you learn the steps and have fun doing the workout.

I think SB is harder. That combo 3 is just nuts. I can never get it. I can do RS all the way through with almost no "mistakes." I have yet to SB and feel like I really "got" it.

Rythmic Step was the hardest cathe workout for me to learn. I did get it eventually and then it was really fun. I like Step Blast better and found it easier to learn, but that might be because I'd gotten more used to Cathe's choreography by the time I got it.

OK, I feel better - Combo 3 in Step Blast still eludes me!

I usually go back and do Combo 2 a second time!

Also, Step Blast has way long chapters, so if you mess up on the DVD, you have to go to the beginning of the chapter. Tough if you are trying to learn the end!

I did Rhythmic step today for about the 8th time and I really like it. I didn't find the choreography too hard. I think that Step blast is a little harder as far as intensity, but for a solid steady state cardio tape this one is awesome. I love them both.

I thought Step Blast was harder to learn, and you're right the intensity is higher in Step Blast. They are both a lot of fun though.

They are both about the same I get alittle more sweaty with Step Blast. Rythmic Step is just so fun, I hope Cathe does another.

SB is on FitTV right this minute. There are a lot of torquey moves in it, like "DOUBLE ricochets" and a 360-degree move. RS has just a few 180-degree moves (flying angels, I think?) that are easily modified.

I thought Rhythmic Step was more difficult. By the time I got to Step Blast I was getting use to Cathe's joking when it came to spins. She likes to through them in to get you. All to keep your attention.
