step blast/imax 2

Step Blast is an hour long step cardio routine, which features three routines gradually built up and then repeated 4 times to get your heart rate up, before moving onto the next. After learning and repeating all three sections, Cathe then puts the whole thing --all three routines-- together, one after the other three times, and at the end of each repetition she adds an interval blast, before moving right along into the second repetition, etc.

The music is great, and this is one of my personal faves.

Imax 2 is a tough step interval workout. You learn and repeat a very basic short step pattern 6 times, this is your cardio section, then Cathe leads you into a tough, high impact (usually) interval for a minute (approx, because she plays with the concept of a minute quite loosely at times!) which takes you to your anaerobic threshold. Then she lets you have half a minute to get your heart rate down before launching into the next short step routine and the next interval blast. There are 10 interval blasts and step routines all together.

The music is awesome, as is the choreography and this is held to be Cathe's most popular step interval workout.

In my opinion, your collection needs both of these workouts, unless you have problems with high impact work, in which case, leave them both well alone!

Imax is all my all time favorite Cathe workout. I remember awhile back in the rankings this came out as #1. The music is great. It is SO much fun!

Even if you have problems with high impact work, grab both these workouts! I modify the high impact parts of the workouts to be low impact when necessary, and get a great workout from both routines!

Right now, I'd have to say that I prefer Imax2 to Step Blast, but that could change at any time. I have phases. Step Blast will be my favorite, then Imax2, then Lowmax, then Rhythmic Step, and so on.

Time seems to fly with Imax2. I just love the way it constantly takes the heart rate up, then back down, then up, then down, etc. Step Blast doesn't have those highs and lows so much - at least not until the end when it hits you between the eyes with The Challenge! ("Air, that's what I need!" - I just love when she says that).

Oh, regarding Imax3: It is similar to Imax2, but with shorter recovery sections. I think the choreography is a little more complex, too, but it's just as fun and fast-paced as Imax2, IMO. Get Imax2 first, then if you like it, go for Imax3 for a little more of a challenge.
