Static Lunges

Hi All! I did Muscle Max this morning and I find that my calves tend to stop me from being able to do all of Cathe's static lunges (at least in her timeframe). I use a 35lb barbell and they start shaking and almost cramping up. Any ideas how to prevent this? Should I stretch more beforehand? Thanks!

I'm doing MM this week also and have the same problem, but not every time I do static lunges. I'd be interested in anyone's ideas, too.

I have the same problem with the static lunges in SJ&P and I think PH. My calves don't bother me when I do the static lunges on any other workouts. Weird, huh?

1st this tape kiis your legs(love it).
I start shaking and pull my geg up to a standing position whe this happens. I usually go down to 30 lbs on this tape for those lunges or i shake so bad i could collapse. Pause and stretch before each round it will help. I stretch a little from one side to the other . I can usually do all of them this way.
Shaking good , cramping not.
Good luck,
Anne

Hi there, I used to feel that pull in my calf sometimes too.
I also noticed I had to re-adjust my stance sometimes because my back leg was slipping back alittle. I started doing them on a yoga sticky-mat and I found my stance much stronger and no pulling in the back lower leg. I still shake near the end of reps because of the intensity, those are tough leg workouts. My yoga mat likes the attention its getting now too:)

Also, thanks for insights. Think maybe the "slipping foot" syndrome is my problem. Now I'll warm up my yoga mat.
