Starting week # 4 of a comeback - Yipee!!!

This is a huge milestone on my comeback. I'm starting the 4th week of CTX rotation tomorrow. It's been over a year since I've been working out consistently due to major life upheavels. I think I'm really back now.

In just this time I've had comments on looking younger, less stressed. My son nagged me into going back and I'm so glad after about 10 attempts I'm really back. He says I dont yell anymore! I'm finding myself being more playful (for lack of a better word). I'm getting to be good friends with a guy at work and he said I'm a lot happer :)

No comments about being in shape - but that wasn't my primary motivation. I only gained 4 lbs in over a year so not bad.

I'm back (I really really think so!)

Thanks for your encouragement

Great job, Robin. I have gone off exercise a couple of times in my life, too. It always feels so wonderful when you come back and you think, why did I not make time for this??

Keep up the good work!
Marie

PS: CTX rocks!

I'm so glad you've been able to make such strides!!! Make sure and pat yourself on the back along with all the pats you get from us. :)

You're worth it! Way to go!

That's great Robin:) :) Thank you for sharing your success. Actually, have you considered posting this in the Success Stories forum? I think you should.;)

Aww.. thanks so much you guys.

O I should have said it wasn't a matter of just being lazy, I went off as my son was facing some life threatening health issues so working out was just not a priority. I was focusing just on surviving and being there for him (and getting through the day) I had nothing to give to working out.

My faith is very strong and I'm usually a very strong person (single mom for 16 years now) but in addition my son's situation my mother had her final descent into mental illness - is now in a mental facility.

Oh and I changed jobs and my daughter went off to college. I also went for counseling, which was so helpful.

So anyhow it is WONDERFUL to be back and the time is right for me to focus on this now too and be with you guys in the forum!

I know the road won't always be easy - my son will be on anti siezure meds for life and will have brain surgery for the aneurysm in a few years but I know we will make it through. He is doing quite well - can't do his passion - contact sports - but is the stat guy for his HS football time and does the cardio drills. He also did track last spring and started tennis and golf this summer. The new meds don't have the horrible cognitive effects so he is doing MUCH better in school this year (Jr year). He coached little kids in hockey last year and worked at a nature summer camp. It's true knock and doors will open.

Thanks so much for your nice responses :)

Holy smokes, Robyn!!! I'd say you blew the top off the stress meter;( .

You're truly an inspiration. Your initial post has much more meaning than I first gleaned from it. I have to tell you, I'm happy that you've had success with your w/o's, but I'm really moved by your positive attitude and the grace you've shown under pressure.

I wish you well and I'll keep your son and mother in my prayers. It sounds like your son is making the best of his situation--probably gets that from his mother ;) :+

Holy Moly that's a lot of stress. Good for you for getting at least some of your needs met!

I am in the 2nd week fo my own comeback and you have inspired me!

Congratulations on overcoming the stress and returning to exercise. You've had a full plate! A friend's son just had successful surgery for a brain aneurysm. It was amazing how quickly he recovered. Best wishes for your son and his future.

robyn glad you are getting back on track. you sound like you are doing fabulous and i hope you continue. i hear ya on the stress thing. i would probably be dead from stress if i didn't workout.

Robyn - My heart goes out to you for what you've been through this year! I think it's a testiment to your strength that you only gained 4 pounds.

You are an inspiration. Good luck! And more than anything - welcome back!

Awww thanks so much. What a treat to come home to all your messages.

It's really nice. I went out for drinks with friends at work and a guy I've gotten to be friends with said I look so much better.

That made me feel great but I must say your emails made my day :)

Robin - that's wonderful to hear that a friends son had an aneurysm procedure and is doing so well. Thanks

- Robyn
