:-:-:-:-:-: squeaky clean weekend :-:-:-:-:-:

Chris, Collin, and I really have no big plans this weekend - its weird! Not sure what we will do this morning - maybe some shopping? This afternoon Collin has a playdate with his girlfriend from school, no real plans for tonight. Tomorrow we are going to Winchester (about an hour drive) to do some shopping and go out to lunch.

I'm still not sure what workout I'm doing this morning... I think it needs to be something lower body. Maybe B&G - it's got lots of cardio-based moves, and I'm feeling like I need that with the non-running these days:confused:

BBIBB

I just walked to get a newspaper (about a mile round trip) and did some thinking. I have been sooooooooo bummed that I can't start my *official* race training program on Monday as planned. So here is what I decided...

I'm going to go ahead and start my program as planned, but just sub WALKING for RUNNING. That way I am still logging my miles, simulating the motion of running, and mentally I will feel SO much better knowing I am REALLY (sort of) starting my training as planned.

The program looks like this, and here is how I am going to change it up...

M stretch & stregthen / lifting (chest & back) and SM segment
T short, easy run / 3 mile walk
W speed work / IMAX or plyo, shoulders and stretch (pm)
T short, easy run / 3 mile walk, lower body and stretch (pm)
F off
S short, easy run / 3 mile walk, biceps, triceps, and stretch
S long run / long walk (5-6-7 miles, whatever is called for

What do you think?

i think your plan sounds great, katie! that walking will be wonderful
the shopping sounds great too!:D

im taking dds to meijer for an american girl "party" and then we're going to the lake for the rest of the day. mikes jealous my tan is darker than his!:p

wo will be cardio i think, maybe lic???

Morning ladies

Katie good idea about your w/o rotation. Start slow and you will pick up in the next few weeks.

Kate enjoy the party.

I'm feeling better with this stupid cold but I'm still congested. I'm going to take some meds. Today I'll do some ellip and core work.

d-port tenderloin:)

Woo hoo! Leaving for the beach in a couple of hours!:) Need to shower and finish loading up the car. Never worked out yesterday:( Ended up cleaning and packing and shopping:eek: Hopefully I can run on the beach tonight when it's cooler out. Do you think it'll be ok to run 3 days in a row (run/walk that is)? I'm so behind on my 5k training. I'm planning on running and doing body weight stuff-might take my BBC total body dvd too.

Katie, I think you're plan is great! You'll be ready for the half-no worries!

Kate, have fun at the American Girl event! My friend took her daughter to Chicago this weekend for the American Girl experience. I hope I can work on my tan this week although I'll never be darker than Darrin!

Hoping my sil takes her laptop so I can check-in once or twice this week. A week without my c&t girls is too long!

See ya!!

good morning everyone

katie, i read your post from yesterday, and i am sorry for all you are going thru. your plan sounds great, but, i will say, i walked around on a broken foot for 5 days, probably displaced it some:( maybe get your mri first ebfore you do anything concussive (even walking)? could you do the pool only? just a thought, which may be worth nothing, but, if i had not ignored my signs, i might have been running again in 4 weeks insead of 9.

kate, pool sounded like fun yesterday. we will go today too. it is 90, 98% humidity.

robin, lol at not talking people into stuff. that sounds nice.

nice easy 8miler this am and some leg work. did a few more boxes and clean up. need major clean max too but i am so unmotivated. eats will be clean. i feel better about my cravings. bbl

Robin, Sorry you're not feeling well! Urgh. Do you have to work this weekend?

Klaudia, Have a great time at the beach!!!

Nina, Dang, it's hot in Florida!!!
"Easy 8miler" will never be in my vocab!:p You are AMAZING!!!

Wanna hear a Funny? I've been letting Julia wander around the kitchen without anything on her bottom so the yeast infection can dry out. She's peed more puddles on the floor than I can count but thus far I've avoided poop. All that changed this morning! I was putting dishes away and turned and looked at her. She had just done a HUGE pile on the kitchen floor! We're taking GINORMOUS! Like, she had been saving it all up just for that moment! DDs were LAUGHING THEIR HEADS OFF! It was quite funny.
:p:p:p:p:p:p

WAHOO!!!!! Power Circuits done!!!!
Another one I have had for a long time and haven;t done.:p
It was so much fun!
YAY for new cardio! I cannot WAIT for Shock Cardio!!!!

please, anyone, post recipes. i am lazy and need ideas.:p

Nina - I posted a sweet potato turkey loaf recipe a few days back. Or was it last week? I'll look for it and copy and paste for you.

Katie - So sorry for all that you are going through emotionally. Hang in there and it will get better although it may not always feel like it.

Kate - LOL about the poop! Hope her yeast is getting better. Did you find the gentian violet?

Klaudia - Have fun!! I'm totally jealous. I so want to go on vacation!

Hi Robin, Anne, Angie, Patti, Colleen, Steph!

Sorry I've been MIA. It's been so busy here. I've been staying to watch ds practice football because he asked. He's doing really well and enjoying himself. It does take up a lot of time though. He's on first string defense and excited about playing so it's all worth it. Anyway, did C&W last night. Not sure what's on tap for today. Eats today are clean so far. Next thing to do is plan Pomai's one year party. A Halloween theme! So excited!

Lisa

Sweet Potato-Turkey Meatloaf

Ingredients:
1 large sweet potato of choice - I used yams and it came out yummy!
1 lb ground turkey
1 large egg
1 small onion finely chopped
2-3 cloves of garlic minced
1/4 cup honey bbq sauce or any bbq sauce of choice
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
2 slices bread for bread crumbs
salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Lightly grease baking dish.
Peel and cut up sweet potato then cook in boiling water.
Remove potato and mash or whip up potato until smooth.
Mix ground turkey with the egg, chopped onions, minced garlic, bbq sauce, ketchup, Dijon mustard, and bread crumbs in large mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Add the whipped sweet potatos and stir until evenly combined. If the mixture is too wet for your liking, you can add more bread crumbs or ground turkey.
Put mixture into baking dish.
Bake for 1 hr or until cooked thoroughly.

Wow, slow weekend in here!

Yesterday was a very fun day - breakfast, lunch, and snack were on point. We went to Collin's girlfriend's house for a playdate, and we ended up having so much fun that they asked us to stay for dinner (which turned out to be burgers and fries). I did not say, "I'm sorry, I'm fat and I'm eating only salad's right now" but I guess I could have.

Today Chris and I are going to a town about an hour away to do some shopping. I am planning some step cardio this morning, and then lots of walking this afternoon!

BBL!

PS Kate that is HILARIOUS about JULIA!

Morning

:DKate baby Julia can do no wrong.

Katie enjoy your shopping. What step did you do.

Lisa a halloween theme how exciting. Have the stores around your way selling halloween stuff yet?

Nina have you tried craig's list for jobs and your states Employment Security Commission. These are the places where I check in a couple times per week. The internet makes it harder to get jobs because everyone can see and apply for the postion, even people in another state. You have lots of experience so you get a job very soon.

Klaudia enjoy the sun shine.

My kids went to the store yesterday and came home with a orange tabbie kitten. Most orange tabs are males so I guess his name should not be Hazel. When does the testies drop in cats? I have to call a vet.

robin, congrats on the kitty. testicles should be down by 6 months. you definately want em gone!

katie, your day sounded good yday. what step did you do?

it is quet here! eats are awesome today. we went to my sister's community pool this am, and it was great. i ran 15 miles this am!! it was really hard, but i did it. also did bsb. not sure what we will do this afternoon as it is 96 degrees!! bbl

Hello from Muskegon! Got rained out on the beach a few hours ago so now we're all inside hanging out-lots of snacks and beverages. I've been pretty good so far-considering. I had to modify my running plan, omitting one day of week 4. Today I ran along the beach and all the way to this beautiful lighthouse with the waves crashing along the big rocks-awesome! Will do it again tomorrow:) Oh, and turns out the beach is across the street from the house and about 200 yards to the water! My calves and butt better be rockin' when we get home! Hoping for more beach time if the weather cooperates tomorrow and then some shopping, sightseeing, etc.

Robin, I took your beach advice and it worked!;) Congrats on the new member of the family!

Lisa, when is Pomai's birthday? Nevena's is October 27th and we had a Halloween party last year-the kids came in costumes, had pizza, then went out trick or treating with the dads while us moms hung out and passes out candy:) Came back for cake and ice cream. It was fun!:)

Katie, what a fun day you had! Darrin's been bugging me to have a drink and I'm trying to watch my calorie intake but don't want to be a party pooper either so I know what you mean about saying no.

Nina, wish we had some of your weather here! It was warm and windy earlier. Now it's windy and rainy:( Great run!

Ok, gotta get my buffalo chicken dip out of the oven!

TTYL!!

Great day here! Church this AM, then home for a bit. INlaws have big girls for the night so Mike and I went shopping and out to dinner then to Sams. Came home, got Julia to bed and we did our WOs. I did LIC and had FUN! Abs are WORKED!

not clean as written, but you can health it up easy enough

Spicy Spaghetti Pie
Serves 4 to 6

Thin spaghetti can be used in place of vermicelli.

12 ounces vermicelli (see note)
Salt
4 ounces sliced deli pepperoni , chopped fine sub chicken
1 onion , chopped
3 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
3/4 cup heavy cream I omitted
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend I used mozzarella
1. Adjust oven rack to upper-middle position and heat oven to 475 degrees. Spray 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray. Bring 4 quarts water to boil in large pot. Add pasta and 1 tablespoon salt to boiling water and cook until al dente. Drain pasta and return to pot.

2. Meanwhile, cook pepperoni in large skillet over medium-high heat until crisp, about 2 minutes. Add onion and cook until softened, about 2 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, pepper flakes, and ¼ teaspoon salt and bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer until sauce is thickened and reduced to 4 cups, about 10 minutes; cover and keep warm.

3. Transfer 2 cups tomato sauce to pot with hot pasta, with cream, basil, and cheese and toss to combine. Transfer mixture to prepared pie plate and press with spatula to flatten surface. Bake until golden brown and bubbling, 10 to 15 minutes. Let cool 5 minutes. Serve, passing remaining sauce at table.

Spicy Pasta Bake with Sausage
Serves 4

If you want a less-spicy dish or can’t find Ro-Tel tomatoes, substitute 1 1/4 cups canned diced tomatoes. Andouille, linguica, or kielbasa sausage can be substituted for the chorizo.

1 pound chorizo sausage , halved lengthwise and sliced thin
1 onion , chopped fine
4 garlic cloves , minced
3 cups low-sodium chicken broth
1 (10-ounce) can Ro-Tel tomatoes (see note)
1/2 cup heavy cream
12 ounces penne pasta
Salt and pepper
2 cups shredded Pepper Jack cheese
4 scallions , sliced thin
1. Adjust oven rack to upper-middle position and heat broiler. Cook chorizo and onion in large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat until lightly browned, about 8 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

2. Stir in broth, tomatoes, cream, pasta, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper and bring to boil. Cover pan and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer, stirring frequently, until pasta is tender, about 15 minutes.

3. Off heat, uncover pan and stir in 1/2 cup cheese. Top with remaining cheese and broil until cheese is melted and spotty brown, about 3 minutes. Sprinkle with scallions. Serve.
