Hi!
I hope everyone had a great weekend! Cindee, I'm glad your trip to Mexico was fun and nobody got sick. That's some bike tournament you'll be doing. Wow! Are you going to continue training HIIT?

Today I did Legs, PS and LL. I thought LL was never going to end! It was tough. I'm glad results are showing though. Thursday night we leave for vacation:), but I'll go about 9 days without Cathe!!;(

I've enjoyed training one body part per day, but I do miss workouts like SS, ME and PP. I'll see what I feel up to doing after our trip.

My dog is having a minor surgery now. He has cronic ear infections, so the vet suggested putting him under to really clean it out. He said there is very little risk, but I'm still nervous about it.

I'm to wrap this up. We're having a storm here and I've had to log on 4 tims in the last few minutes. The lightning must be doing something to my phone line.

I'll try to check back later!

Happy Monday everyone!

Today's workout was PLB and I added on S&H Bi's and Tri's abs section. My left leg held up really well under the weight used for lunges. The tightness is just about all the way gone and I feel comfortable doing lower body work again. The ball work is SLOWLY getting better. I'm one of the people who gets a strong burning sensation in my shins when doing the ball roll in's (both with feet up and froggy style). Tried to concentrate on relaxing and not flexing my feet soooo hard and it seemed to make it a little better. Maybe I just need to work more on strengthening the shins. Who knows!!?!??!

Susan- Lightening!?!? That's some weather you're having! I feel badly that I'm complaining that it's the end of May and we're barely breaking 70 (I live in CA). I'd like some warmer weather before I leave for Hawaii (2 1/2 weeks away) so I can get some semblance of a base tan beforehand.

Cindee- Good luck on the training regime for the bike race. I'm sure you'll do awesome!

Hope everyone had a terrific weekend!

Hi everyone, last night was another night where I didn't fall asleep until 5 a.m. I'm still very much awake though and still feeling fine, although I'm not sure I can lift as much as I want to today, or for as long.

Anyway, today's supposed to be shoulders and arms, PS and MIS. I'll see how it goes.

Sabine, I'd love to have your weather. It's starting to get up to around 88 degrees in the afternoon here in Dallas. Summer's creepin' in, and I still have to garden! My son got his first sunburn (very minor -- the child still hasn't learned the benefits of shade) last week even though we'd put sunblock on him before he went to school. And it's only May.

Susan, how do you do one body part a day using segments from four workouts? With my back-to-back PS and MIS routine this week, I could barely do another push-up when I was doing chest. I'm very impressed by your strength and endurance.

Cindee, how's the training coming? It actually sounds like fun to me, you doing this with your husband. Or not, maybe?;)

Later,
Pinky

Hi all! Pinky I don't know how you can workout with little to no sleep. That would be a very huge challenge to me. I'm feeling a little under the weather today, but I'm determined to get in a workout. I may do SJP, as the matter of fact I believe that will be what I do today. Maybe one of the premixes, we'll see. I am having a lot of fun with the premixes lately.
Sabine, how is your quad feeling, better I hope? I'm guessing that it is, because you did PLB today.
Well, I'm off. Have a great day!

Kathy

Hello All!

Did PP today followed by Yoga w/ Sara Ivanhoe- felt great! Still fighting the fatigue a bit, modifying where I need to.

Sabine- know you're excited about Hawaii. Only a few weeks away!

Pinky- hope your insomnia *gets better* soon.

Susan- I know how I feel when one of my furbabies has to *go under* at the vets- I know the vet and the techs are very capable and careful but I still worry. I'm sure your pooch will be fine and am sending you a hug (((Susan))), OK? :) BTW, I read that you and DH enrolled your son in Taekwondo- that's great! It's absolutely wonderful for their confidence and self-esteem.

Kathy- SJP premix sounds great! I've been enjoying the premixes as well. I can tailor it to how I'm feeling that day/ how much time I have to workout.

Cindee- WOW! A two hundred mile bike ride! You rock, girl! How was Mexico? Betcha had a terrific time!

Hellos to everybody else!

Elizabeth

Good afternoon! Mexico was truly a blast and the kids had a great time. Thanks to everyone for asking! My eldest especially liked boogie boarding. The middle boy didn't like the salt-water swimming so he stayed at the pool unless he wanted to build sandcastles. My youngest was pretty much up for anything pool or beach. I had to keep reminding him to stay near me in the ocean...he began to get pretty brave! Everyone is a lovely shade of brown, but here in Washington it will fade...oh well. I'd love to keep the color without tanning, but I'm not a sunbather/tanning booth-er.

I've decided that I'll bike 3 times a week, lift upper body one day and lower body another day, and tack on a Cathe cardio or circuit to make 6 days per week. That's pretty general since working out 6 days per week is ambitious for me. I'm going to continue with HIIT at least twice a week, too, since it only takes 15-20 minutes. Spinervals is inherently HIIT-like also. Biking is DH's baby and I'm joining him. It's still new to me and he's much better at it...but that's a reason to train harder. I think I'm a little anxious that I won't be able to keep up with DH and his brother (who has thick, muscular, strong legs). The one advantage I see that I have is endurance...when we go on long rides I have more energy in the last half than DH.

Susan, hope doggie is healed up soon! Have fun on the vacation!

Pinky, I don't know how you workout on so little sleep, either! But good for you to keep at it...I do hope your bod's carcadian rhythm settles into a good pattern soon.

Sabine, glad your leg is better. I did that once and it was so maddening to stop all lower body stuff for over a week, and I don't even know what it was I did!

Elizabeth, thanks for the encouragement. I'll let you know if I rocked or not! Ha!

Well, this has been long!
Have a great day and workout everyone!

Hey everyone,

I haven't checked in for quite a while. It wasn't intentional; it just sort of worked out that way. I was really busy at work (I usually check in during lunch or while taking a break), so I didn't have a chance. I was doing pretty well with the Winsor Max. Burn Pilates and kickboxing, and then, well, you'll never believe this... I came down with viral menengitis! I almost can't believe it. It's unrelated to Michael's case. The doctors think that possibly I got West Nile from a mosquito when I was at the shore (they're checking on that). Anyway, I was in the hospital from late Thursday until late yesterday, and now I have to take it completely easy for at least a couple of days, and then I can start to ease back into things. Luckily, I was not nearly as sick as Michael was, and so far I'm not having the severe headaches that he had afterward. Even so, It's just been an unbelievably rough year. It's got to get better sometime though, right?

Susan, I hope your dog's surgery goes well, and Pinky, I hope you get some sleep! Is Brenda on her trip now? It's good to "see" how all of you are doing!

Talk to you soon, I hope!

OMG. Lisa! I'm so glad the doctors and you caught it early and that you're OK! You have had a time with health issues for the past few months and you always kept your head up high- you're a strong woman. Please take it easy and regain your strength. Sending you a cyber-hug (((Lisa))) and healing thoughts. Please keep us posted when you are able.

Elizabeth

Lisa,

My goodness! You could have knocked me over with a feather when I read your post! All I could think was 'No!!! This woman has had so much to deal with as of late. She needs a BIG OLD BREAK!!!'.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and for a quick recovery. So glad to see you back and look forward to hearing about all your workouts when you are well. Be sure to take it easy and do whatever you need to to be good to yourself.

Big hugs!!!!

LISA!!! Oh my goodness, I'm speechless... How long were you down with meningitis? How's Michael? Here I am, going through the lost months of the calendar, thinking about how the first third of the year didn't work out the way I planned it with too much intrusion and too many revisions (which to my perfectionist mind makes it "imperfect") and there you are, with your truly rough year. Can I give you a hug?:)

Kathy and Cindee, I don't know how I do it either -- get by on so little sleep. Habit, I guess. There are always spurts of time when the insomnia hits, and when it's gone, I do sleep like a baby. Stress triggers it. And sometimes, it just happens, even during my happiest moments. This runs in my family. My 10-year-old niece started experiencing this when she was around 8.

Sabine, I'm glad to know your quad is better.

Pinky

Elizabeth, Sabine and Pinky, thanks for you hugs and thoughts. I couldn't believe it either. I was not sick as long as Michael. I woke up Thursday 5/20, feeling okay, and was getting ready to work out. Literally one second I was fine, and the next the back of my neck was killing me. I actually went on and worked out, it was Janis Saffell's Hardcore Kickbox Circuit, a good but not overly intense workout, and felt okay afterwards, except for the stiff neck (it may have been stupid to work out, oh well). Anyway, for the next few hours that was it, then I started to get muscle aches and cramps, and later chills and a fever. I went to the ER that night after calling the afterhours line at my dr's office. Unfortunately, I had to sit in the waiting room for three hours. Apparently whoever was deciding who went back when thought I wasn't so bad off. I think it's because my fever wasn't that high, and at the time I went through triage my bodyaches weren't that bad. They put me on an IV, took blood, did chest and neck xrays (the chest because I'm still coughing from the bronchitis at the beginning of May; the dr in the hospital said that could continue 1-2 months), a CT scan, and finally the spinal tap. I was put in a room Fri afternoon, and started to feel better Saturday, although I had a mild migraine. I got to go home late Sunday evening.

The funniest thing in the hospital was on late Friday afternoon, when a priest came in! Apparently he was in the wrong room, but, before he determined that, he asked me if any other chaplains had been to see me. I didn't think I was that bad off! Anyway, we quickly determined he was looking for someone else. He did say he would pray for me if I wanted, and asked me if I wanted to pray with him then. He blessed me, and then he left. It was nice actually, but pretty funny also!

Anyway, Michael is actually much better. I won't go into all the details, because we've had a time with it (the ENT last week said he should stay off milk and wheat another 4 weeks, and after that we might be looking at surgery if he still had headaches). Anyway, he's been off Tylenol and Motrin for two weeks, and is following the pattern the neurologist suggested he might. His headaches were about the same the first five or six days, then he had a few days with very bad headaches, but since about last Wednesday, they've been much better. He's been rating them and now they're all 1's or 1/2's on a scale of 10 (one last week was an 8). So, if you're going to be thinking or praying about anything, pray that he was having rebound headaches from the Tylenol, and that we're just about through with this.

Sorry this was so long, but thanks for being interested!

Wow...that's all I can say except I will definately be praying for both you and Michael.

Blessings,
CinDee
