Spring into Summer check-in - 5/17

Good morning all,

Yesterday I did LL from beginning to end for the first time since January. With modifications, of course, and with two 12-lb. DB's instead of Cathe's 35-lb. BB. I did well until the hover squats. By the time they did lunges, I could only do a set of 16 reps for each leg and with a pair of 10-lb. DB's in my hands. I was able to do the first set of plies, but after all those low ends, I did the second set on the floor (instead of against the wall) without weight.

So today I have this wonderfully horrid sore in my thighs and glutes and a milder sore in my calves. For some reason my hamstrings are fine. I used a pair of 15-pounders for them. The best part: my knees are okay. My PT friend's advice worked well for me.

Today will be upper body. It's a toss-up between PS and CTX-UB split, but I'm leaning more towards PS.

Have a great week everybody.:)

Good morning everyone~
Just have a quick minute to check in and say hi. The party was a huge hit on Sat, the rain & cicadas held off and I'm so relieved its over. Now I have 3 days to get ready for Vegas so I won't be checking in much till next week when we get back.

Still doing HIIT and trying to fit in the HST although the jury is still out as to whether its right for me. I think I may prefer doing the S&H series. Today I may do Step Blast since I haven't done it in so long and really miss it.

Pinky, glad you did LL w/out knee problems. That must be a relief! How's your sleeping been?

Lori, glad you're back from Cuba. Must have been a great time. :)

Haven't had a chance to read any other back posts but will try in the next day or two.

Hope everyone is well- we got the best chocolate cake for the Communion that I have ever (buttercream icing w/chocolate mousse inside) had so I need to start working that off TODAY!!

Brenda

Oh yeah, Pinky, I even get sore from that one every time! I can do all of PLB, but LL kills me every time!
Ok, this morning I did something different. I did the Step Blast with weight circuit. The 61 min long one. But unfortunately my son woke up in a bad mood and I could not finish. But I still have this afternoon to do the challenge. So, I'm feeling pretty good about myself for actually getting up and working out instead of sitting infrton of the tv sipping on coffee trying to wake up.
OOO, this is kind of scary, dh heard on the radio that Splenda is considered one of the worst artificial sugars on the market for us. I guess that they use Hyrdochloride to process it. It can cause Lower intestine cancer, and Thyroid disease. So, needless to say my cofffe regimine in the morning may get nixed. I use splenda to sweetin it, and I am not willing to use sugar. So, I guess that I should just try to live without my beloved coffe. We'll see how long this lasts though. I may change my mind tomarrow and just use sugar and try to cut out the extra calories somewhere else.
Well, I hope that you all have a great day!

Kathy

Good Morning everyone!

Today was the start of a CTX series week. So Monday started with Power Circuits. When I first got the CTX series I honestly thought I would die when doing them! They pack so much into such a short amount of time. I must be getting stronger both with strength and cardio as I really enjoyed Power Circuits. Now I doubt I'll be saying that tomorrow as Leaner Legs is on tap, but I have no doubt that I'll get through it (and have some mild DOMS the next day).

Brenda- Glad to hear that the party went so well. I admit I totally spaced and forgot it was this weekend. The weekend check in was really quiet and I imagine everyone was out enjoying a terrific weekend. Have a terrific time in Vegas and play some roulette for me!

Pinky- Good job on LL! I did PS series last week and forgot how thorough the upper body work was. I think you can't go wrong between either CTX or PS. Great news that the knees are holding up well. BTW, what was the 'surprise' that your hubby was supposed to give you in Houston (if it's not too personal to ask).

Kathy- I haven't done that premix that you mentioned. How was it? How was it structured? I really do need to start taking more advantage of the premixes!

Big hellos to the rest of 'the gang'. Hope everyone is having a great start of the week.

Sabine, it was good, the circuits are longer than in SJP. You start off with the Step Blast warm up, then you move to the squats and back, then you move to the shoulders and Bi's. Then you do the first combo in Step Blast. After that you move onto the Lunges and shoulders, then to chest and tri's. Then it's the Step blast challenge. That was where I stoped due to crabby boy waking up. So, I figure if i do another warm up this afternoon and do the challenge I should be pretty good to go as far as a workout goes today.
I have just started to get into the premixes. I had never done that one, but was up for something different.

Brenda, great to hear from you. I'm drooling over that chocolate cake.:) I've been sleeping better than usual. There are nights when I still wake up at 2 a.m. for no reason, but I've found a way to counter that. I read. Yup, I haven't read a book in a long time, and I remember that reading in bed used to make me drowsy once my eyes tire.

Sabine, I feel like lifting heavy today since I haven't done that in a week, so PS it is. My hubby's surprise was a shopping day, scrooge that he is.:) His friend's wife and I hit the jewelry stores. I got myself a rose quartz necklace when I couldn't find emerald-cut blue topaz earrings.:7

Kathy, thanks for talking about the premixes. I also should take advantage of those. That SB with weights sounds like a great premix. I'm getting tired of C&W.
