space issues w/ new workouts

Hi Cathe,

I really thought long and hard before deciding to post this, since this series seems to be surrounded by problems and controversy. But I just wanted to mention, while I love the workouts, the problem I have is the traveling exercises and drills. I simply do not have enough workout space to do them which just drives me crazy and breaks my rhythm. I workout in my basement and even tossing the ball in the air is a problem. So if you could just remember that when planning your future series, I for one would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Linda

I am in the same position. I have a very low ceiling in my basement and there are lots of fingernail scratches in my drop ceiling!! However, I was kind of glad I couldn't throw the stability ball as my arms were killing me. I can't even raise the ball over my head so I just modify the moves. I think you can get just as good a workout.

I don't throw my ball. I have drop ceiling. I just raise a portion.
Their walking lunges i do as in B&G and do 2 sets instead of 4(pulsing). It works. I know. I wish i had a huge room... I run into the sliding door.
Just a few ideas to make it work for you.It works for me . I try to modify...
I know we have limited space. I have 8X10 and run out.
Just ideas...

At first glance, I thought space would be a problem but I only use slightly more space than when I do the step workouts. I'm probably shorter than you. You bring up a good point though.

I just logged in to share my modification. I use my small squishy weighted ball for some of the moves. I like the way it feels (instead of the SB or a weight) and tossing isn't a problem. I even toss instead of bounce sometimes.

Thank you for your feedback Linda. Please don't feel the need to hesitate to post your constructive thoughts. They are welcome at anytime. Take Care:)

I, too, have had some problems with space with the new workouts. I have this with some of the older workouts as well. I usually just have to modify the exercises to fit my space. I've learned that once I've done the particular workout a few times, I remember that I need to modify at a particular point and it comes automatically. Once you get so familiar with the modification, it helps so you won't lose the rhythm of the workout.

I workout in my basement and also have a low ceiling so I have to be careful when throwing my ball up in the air but its no biggie. I'm used to it now. my space it limited also so I just make the moves smaller when needed.

I have a hanging light fixture in the middle of the room I workout in (should get that changed some day!), and I either situate myself in a position that is not under the light (which wouldn't help those with low ceilings) or just lift the ball to forhead height instead of tossing it up. You could also switch to a light medicine ball during this segment (since the med ball is a lot smaller than a stability ball).

I know exactly what you mean. I have a small space to work out in our computer room. It is hard for me to modify certain moves sometimes which brings me back to old workouts that I know works. Unfortunately, I don't have a studio to workout in. I want workouts that work for the space I have at home

Hi JoJo,

Thanks for your post. I was beginning to think it was just me. I like home workouts that well, work in a home. I sometimes have to go diagonally in my area to get more space, which means I have to stop and move my step first, then stop again and put it back before I can continue. Also the walking lunges with side lat raises I can't do the raises because I am walking into a corner and no place for my arms to go!

Linda

Instead of doing the 'turn lat raises', I do front raises for that portion since I have no room at that point. Or, you could stand in place and do front lunges and do the lateral raise. You could also do a military press if you have no lateral room for that move, if you choose to do the lunge steps.

For the 'forward bounds' I do them diagonally or in an "L" shape if I'm in a place with no room.
