Sorry...I still need help understanding

Cathlete
Hello, I read through the Tutorial link, on this page, and I still have questions about Cathe Live and the downloads. A couple of weeks ago, I reached out to Cathe’s admin team with my questions and I did not hear back so I thought I would try posting them here.

I apologize in advance for these rudimentary questions. If the answers are posted somewhere and I simply am not seeing/finding them, please let me know. I do not want anyone spending their time repeating information that is accessible to me that I have not found/seen.

I want to use my TV to watch Cathe Live. If I am understanding correctly, if I purchase a Roku, there is a Cathe App on Roku that I use to access the Cathe Live classes, is that correct?

It sounds as though the Cathe Live classes are recorded so I could view them at any time on Roku, through the app. Is this correct? If so, as long as I pay for my subscription, I have access to any of the live workouts, is that correct?

What is the difference between the downloads and Cathe live? For example, the Glutes and Guns download that Cathe is promoting if you purchase the calendar. Where do I access downloads and where do I download the episodes if I want to use my TV and not a computer? Or is it even possible to view downloads on a TV?

Thank you so much!

I cannot speak to Cathe Live as I don't have it. I purchased downloads for STS 2.0 and most certainly I view them on a TV. After downloading them to my computer, I transfer them to a flash drive, (a USB stick). My DVD player has a USB port, and I plug the flash drive into the USB port, and then I use my DVD remote to select etc, just as I would a DVD. Easy.
I think Cathe Live is streaming, and not downloadable at all.

You access downloads from the Cathe Shop Downloads page. You store them on a device that has storage which could be your phone, tablet, laptop, desktop or an external drive or flash/thumb drive. You can then connect that device to your TV. I use flash drives & just plug it into my DVD player. Most TVs also have a USB connector (my DVD player's USB port is most convenient).

Here's the link for downloads:

I access CatheLive with my iPad and a hdmi adapter……one end goes into iPad and
other end in the hdmi port on your tv. It puts what you are seeing on your iPad/iphone
onto your tv screen. Yo do all your signing in, choosing your workout, etc. with the iPad/
iphone. For me, that’s the easiest. Like the others, when I purchase a download, I
use a flash drive hooked to laptop to download and then can play workout on tv thru the
flashdrive (usb drive)

That's right... I used to connect my laptop or Chromebook to the TV with an hdmi connector too.
I guess it depends on your equipment and preferences.

There are two different streaming services that Cathe offers….1) CatheLive is only the
CatheLive classes. 2). OnDemand is a library of all of Cathe’s dvd workouts, the
workout blender, where you have access to all the dvd workouts and their chapters,
and can blend together chapters in any workout with chapters from any other workouts,
and onDemand also includes all the CatheLive workouts.

From Cathe's website:

"when you subscribe to Cathe OnDemand not only do you get unlimited access to all 300+ workouts (the same workouts you get on our DVDs), you also get access to 3300+ Premixes, the Workout Blender, 500+ Cathe Live workouts, 220+ workout rotations, bonus videos, and you receive unlimited access to any new video production we make, including our newest releases for no additional charge."

Aqua girl, I cannot thank you enough. So helpful.

I just want to summarize and ensure I understand each option...

I can buy individual work outs through the download option.
I can subscribe to Cathe Live and watch workouts live, watch them later, or download them.
I can subscribe to Cathe OnDemand and I have access to every workout including Cathe live and DVDs.

Did I get it right?

Yes as Debinmi quoted below:

CatheLive is streaming only….you can watch a live workout as she is doing it on
Thursday mornings usually, or you can stream & watch any CatheLive that is in the
library…..you cannot download thu CatheLive streaming….

I can subscribe to Cathe OnDemand and I have access to every workout including Cathe live and DVDs.

Yes……But you cannot download thru this streaming option either….

Debinmi, help!! If you read this, am I saying this correctly??? Please add anything
you can!! :)

When you choose to download a workout, whether it be a regular Cathe workout, or a
CatheLive workout, you are purchasing it, per the price listed and you download on
your computer, and watch from that, or you can transfer from computer to a flash drive
and play on your tv via usb connection, etc.

perhaps forum admin can chime in with further help for you….don’t wanna tell you
something wrong…

Yup. Every question/statement of MurphyMax is correct. The only thing to clarify is you can't download from a streaming site, nor is it included in the subscription fees. If you want to download it (essentially own it), you have to go to the shop downloads page & pay extra for the workout to own it/download it.

To clarify Cathe has her weekly Live workouts and also has the workouts that she releases on DVD. There are two streaming options, Cathe Live and Cathe OnDemand. If you subscribe to Cathe Live, this gives you access to the weekly workouts (over 500 workouts currently). Cathe OnDemand is the more expensive option and includes all Cathe's workouts, the weekly live workouts and the non-live workouts that she releases as DVDs. This includes all the bonus workouts and premixes that are on the DVDs too. Your subscription does not include downloading or the actual DVDs. If you want to own these workouts, rather than stream them, you need to purchase them through the shopping site. All the workouts, including the Live workouts, are available to purchase as downloads or you can purchase the DVDs of the non-Live workouts.

Hope this helps.

FYI, I use my laptop connected to my TV to stream the workouts.

Aqua girl, Debinmi and Hazlady, I truly cannot thank you enough for taking the time out of your busy schedules to be so thorough in answering ALL of my questions!

For years, I have only been doing the DVDs (use to be VHS - I am showing my age ;-) and I really wanted to check out the other options - I was just unclear about all of the options. You all have been so incredibly helpful. I think I will start with some downloads and see how I do.

Debinmi, you mentioned having a flash drive on your DVD player - that would be ideal! This morning, I checked mine and I did not see one; however, I may look online for another DVD player that offers that option - that just seems like the easiest approach - I am not a tech savvy individual.

Thank you again to all of you. I hope you have a blessed rest of your weekend!!!

This is the player we have in our workout room. The USB port is hard to see, but it's on the lower right corner.

Black Friday sales are going on ;)

You can also use a firestick to her On Demand and Live streaming services. There are 2 different apps for firestick, one for Cathe live and one for Cathe On Demand. I used to use laptop with hdmi but when I started using the firestick, it made it much more simple to use. I've had her On Demand since day one and it's been so worth it. Just wanted to give you a second option since I didn't see anyone mention using a firestick as well. Best of luck.

Hi Firemedic,

Thank you for mentioning firestick. I believe using the stick, the user still rely on the internet connection quality.
With a good internet connection, using a stick is really handy because one would just plug and play.

Another option consist of playing Cathe on demand on a phone or tablet and projecting onto a big screen is for non rural folks.

*Here's my question:* where do I get the fire stick from. Is there any specific requirements to be able to play the files at ease?

ETA: I have managed to answer my own question. I figured it out. i can still use my old chromecast and can just re upload Cathe on demand or live on my phone to play on my workout room tv. No need to add/buy a stick.
