Sorry, I didn't like...

Is the filming quality great? No. Are the instructors as poised and strong (as in teaching)? No. Is it on beat? No.

That said, I still freakin' love this series.

I too have been very dedicated to Cathe. However, there is something to be said for mixing it up and that is what this series does. So, I overlook the stuff that might otherwise bother me. I went into it with the mindset that this isn't Cathe. And, since my expectations weren't that high, I had an absolute blast, worked really hard, and was REALLY sore the next day or two. That, IMO, is a win-win situation.

And I totally agree that Nadia is the hardest instructor to take. I haven't done her video yet, but I was thinking of putting it in today to give it a try....I'll let you know how it goes.

I have to say, when I keep an open mind, I have a better experience.

I bought Amy Bento's Kickbox Extreme back in February. I did it one time, hated it, vowed to never do it again. I was (sorry to say this) bored with the DVDs that I have and was still waiting for Cathe's 4DS. So, I ordered from HSN.com and for $19.99 I got the 5 DVD set.

I have been very happy that I ordered and I feel that this is a great deal. I would not have paid the BBCs website charges...I like around $70. That's overpriced IMO.

One more thing about this set...I LOVE LOVE LOVE the music. I think for me this is why it is soooo fun! It has a strong beat, is young, fresh, and has a hip-hop feel to it. I find it totally motivating.

Overall, it's a nice way to mix it up and I too saw improvements.

I forgot to add, during that boredom period, I revisited Amy Bento's KBX and I LOVED it. I thought that it was sooo fun! I have been doing it once a week! I think that mind set is everything and if you keep your mind open, who knows what you'll discover!

i started barry after a week off of all exercise from bronchitis. i liked it from the start. maybe because it's so different from everything else i have. anyway, after the first week and seeing the results i got, i was definitely hooked. funny thing is, i didn't notice anyone being of count. also, like i said before, i don't pay attention to the music. i like the short workouts although, most of the time i do do two workouts in one session. anyway, i like the series but it's not for everyone. no workout is. i read the same positive/negative comments about squeeze, fluidity, amy bento, just to name a few.

personally, i am totally addicted to iTread and i know there are a lot of people who don't like that.

>Oh thank god, another that does not like "dancey"
>workouts!:)

Count me in as well.

I like to dance, but I don't like people telling me the moves, and when I work out, I don't like to think that much (My brain gets enough work elsewhere, and I don't want it to suffer from "overuse injuries" or "overtraining", LOL!).

I just previewed Amy Bento's step workout, and though it looks 'fun' and she's motivating enough to make me almost want to try it, I think it will be finding a new home! (I ordered all her new workouts, since the price was good, and I wanted to give her the support).

Isn't there a 'music off' option on the Barry's Bootcamp workouts? You could put your own music on, which could help.

I'm not stuck on 'lifting with the musíc' and I can stand not being on beat of the music with the 'cardio' on the legs workout, because I see it more as a drill (as in 4DS Bootcamp) and not as a choreographed aerobic move. I also try to tune out Nadia (?) when I do BBC, because her incessant "up-down-up-down..." can get on my nerves.

I do see how the different 'aura' of the workout might be a turn-off to those used to Cathe's more staged presentation (matching outfits, precise choreography with everyone doing the same thing, a brightly-lit set, etc.) but if you can get into the 'we're in an actual weight room' vibe, these can be very effective workouts.

>personally, i am totally addicted to iTread and i know there
>are a lot of people who don't like that.

Exactly. Those do not float my boat. ;) :)

I like BBC, love the music--I think Barry wrote it himself because he's on the music credits and I know he has a music background--but the two I like least are Legs and Chest. I forgot the guy who leads chest but he doesn't have the best camera presence and his "up, down" annoys me. I rarely do legs because Nadia irritates me.

I love Barry and Joey. I wish it was all about them!
