Soreness is okay, right?

Everytime I up my poundages in PS, I am quite sore for the next two days. The great thing is that the second week at the same poundage, I am not sore afterwards, and I am able to increase the weight the following week. I am going up in very small increments, but it is so exciting to be getting stronger!

My question is, if the muscle soreness is delayed, my joints don't hurt, and I rest those muscles until they're no longer sore, is it okay? Are there drawbacks to soreness (such as impeded muscle growth) or is the main drawback just that it feels sore?

Cathe, I enjoy your videos so much. Yesterday I did PS CST and part of Step Max and I found myself smiling back at the TV.
