Sore knees and teaching Aerobics

Hi Cathe and Everyone!

Do any of you get sore knees from teaching and working out? I have been battling with this for a while now. What do you do about it? Here is what a typical week of working out is for me:

M- Teach Kickboxing in the AM and do Yoga in the PM
T- Lift heavy (Full body, compound movements) and teach TurboKick and Yoga at night
W- Teach Step
Th- Lift Moderate Weight (Full body), sometimes Spinning Class
F- Spinning class and teach a Total Body Scult class (light weights)

Christine, I'm a FORMER instructor and I only ever instructed aqua classes, but/so FWIW, to me it does seem that your knees are strained because of your weekly schedule. If I were in your situation, I would limit teaching each cardio format
(kickbox/TurboKick, Step, Spinning) to one class per week. And (if I do say so myself) aqua would be a good format to bring into your schedule, whether it be for your own personal workouts or as a new instructor format to add to your roster. Aqua, as I'm sure you know, is extremely joint-friendly, and you can indeed get a good, vigorous workout in the meantime despite aqua's rep as the format for people who really don't want to work.
