Sooooo many options=Sooooo overwhelmed

I've posted this before but it's stressing me out again today (I'm slightly high-strung.....).

I am nowhere near having all of Cathe's dvds yet I find myself incredibly overwhelmed with all the workouts I own. I can't seem to figure out how to utilize them all, while making sure I train all my muscles evenly (and hard) and get all the cardio in that I need. I just realized today that I haven't done some of the dvd's that I own in a long time. I just got BBC about 2 weeks ago and have been experimenting with that and the new 4DS. I haven't been doing a lot of high impact cardio lately due to my knees and the plain 'ole dread factor. I've been dreading doing tough interval cardio lately. I've done it for years and have literally made myself sick working out so hard. I don't want to do that right now. But I don't want any of my dvd's to collect anymore dust either. How do I work them all in? Any advice?

Phew, I feel much better now. Thanks.

Allison,

I think the best thing to do is to figure out your goals:

Do you want to work on upper body, lower body, fat loss, heavy weight training, endurance, etc.?

Are you looking to do circuits, total body strength workouts or splits?

Maybe after you answer some of these questions, you can go over to the rotations forum and it might help you out or when you have some answers, post back and we can give you some suggestions.

Why not have some fun with your videos?

Make a list of all of the videos you own. Seperate them into Heavier Muscle work (GS, S&H, 4DS Muscle, PS if you have that), total body, circuits and pure cardio.

Then do a workout based on all of them

One week -

GS BSB
GS Leg
GS C&T
Cardio Only
Total Body
Cardio only
(I would add more cardio but that's me)

Next week
S&H split same idea- but add shoulders to B&T if you have time
And instead of a Total body workout - do a circuit

For the cardio - go through every one of your workouts and add them in there - continue like that. After 3 or 4 weeks, I would do a week of strictly circuits and cardio (and some yoga)...

That would be fun - and you would never get bored!

Christine,
What a great idea! Thanks!

RE: my goals...I want to stay how I am. I am perpetually afraid of gaining weight and just want to maintain my current phyisique and fitness level. I am 5'4, 114 lbs and really am happy with how I look and feel. I just don't want to neglect any workouts and lose strength, definition, stamina, etc.

Thanks for the responses.

Allison,

I know how you feel--I've got a ton of workouts and several I haven't even tried yet. Plus I have so many new ones coming right now with these fall releases. I make new rotations all the time but don't always stick with them for long! I like making them better than doing them. My newest rotation I just call a "Using all my new Workouts Rotation" (I like to name them) and it's an attempt to get the most variety out of my new workouts (or ones I haven't done in a while) while still getting about 3 days of weights and 3 days of cardio in. We'll see if I can stick to it. If you want to see it, it's on the Workout Rotation Ideas document on my blog.

I don't think you should get too stressed about what to do. Just do the workouts you enjoy most and work in a nice balance of cardio, weights, and flexibility.
