Songs to sweat to

I know we have had lots of music threads, but I thought I would put up my non-typical music choices, these aren't the heavy metal or the dance music, rather these are my classical, soundtracks, or vocal tracks.

1. The Ten Tenors: Destiny Lies
2. City of Ember (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack): One Last Message
3. King Arthur (Soundtrack): Another Brick in Hadrian's Wall
4. Angels & Demons (Soundtrack): 503
5. How to Train Your Dragon (Music from the motion picture): Test Drive and Romantic Flight.
6. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack): 'I'll Find My Own Way."
7. John Adams (Music from the HBO Miniseries): Opening Titles
8. National Treasure (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture): Trevor Rabin
9. Amore Musica: Russell Watson: La Fiamma Sacre
10. Odyssey: Hayley Westenra: Dark Waltz
The Celtic Lounge: Gandalf: Titaptawa (cool down)

What tracks do you have which are out of the norm? What do you listen to which is a little more zig than zag?

Good idea but I'll have to think on it a bit. I just finshed reading "City of Ember" and watching the movie! Very easy reading! I need to go look up the soundtrack! Thanks!

There are tons of motion picture soundtracks that I love the scores too...and sometimes like to listen to when I go for a casual run. The movies are:

Rudy
The Road to Perdition
Meet Joe Black
Cold Mountain
Forrest Gump
Field of Dreams
Legends of the Fall
St. Elmo's Fire
Apollo 13
How to Make an American Quilt
THe Cedar House Rules
Finding Nemo

Actually anything from Thomas Newman

Great thread-thanks!!

I love it when Neil Diamond comes up on my exercise mix, especially "Sweet Caroline", "Cracklin Rosie", "I am, I said" and "Song Sung Blue" from the early '70s and "Beautiful Noise" from the mid-'70s. Whacky, huh?

Jenn, I love St. Elmos Fire, too. Had forgotten about that one. "About Last Night" was a good one, too.

I also love Michael Jackson ("Smooth Criminal" is the best!) and Motown circa early '70s.

I used to love the soundtracks from "Top Gun" and "Perfect" for running.

I'm looking pretty old about now.....

I'm going to look into some of these soundtracks now. Thanks for the ideas!

Laura, when you check out my songs, keep in mind they are pretty mellow (don't think I am weird for liking them)...I usually listen to them when I am in a certain mood. However, the song, "Final Game" from Rudy really charges me up...you have to check that one out!! It starts off slow, but them speeds up...love running to it.

I do like Neil Diamond...those songs remind me of the Jersey shore.

I love working out to upbeat tunes from musicals. :) I have a few tracks from Chicago and Moulin Rouge, for example, on my playlist. I actually find that I run a bit faster when they're on b/c I pretend I'm in the musical performing the part. :D

I doubt this is out of the ordinary, but I also love listening to songs from Glee -- I kind of like their remakes over a lot of the originals!

Also, I may or may not have "Just Can't Wait to be King" from the Lion King on my workout playlist...

Nothing wrong with Neil Diamond! I love his music, he just makes me smile. :)
