Something Fun - Maybe...Let's see how this goes

So, I'm sitting here listening to The Damned (early 80's punk group). I recently acquired their album Phantasmagoria (I collect rare, hard-to-find music) and had this in my player, listening to "Shadow of Love" and thought: I wonder if anyone else has an old or obscure favorite song that was never really a big hit or anything.

So, here I am...what are some of your favorite songs that 1) Were a b-side and not an a-side (you younger folks might not understand that lingo, but the older ones will); 2) Never released as a single; 3) Little known or unknown?

I'll start with just a few of mine:

John Taylor's "I Do What I Do" (from the movie 9 1/2 Weeks -- and yes, John Taylor was/is the bass player for Duran Duran)
"Spies" by Coldplay (if you're a Peta Wilson "La Femme Nikita" fan, you heard this song on the USA series)
"Kuan Yin" by Troika (this is an extremely beautiful new age song)
"Lumia Nights" by Jonn Serrie (Jonn Serrie is one of my favorite musical artists. He's classified as a Space Musician)
"When Your Heart is Weak" by Cock Robin (another song from the 80's. It got some air time, but never made it as a hit)
"Let's Get Loud" by Jennifer Lopez
"Could This be Love" by Jennifer Lopez
"Athair Ar Neamh" by Enya
"I Will Find You" by Clannad (this was the theme song for the movie "Last of the Mohicans")
"Adagio" by Lara Fabian
"You're Not From Here" by Lara Fabian
"Come to Me" by Bjork

That's enough for now, but I could go on. You can listen to samples of some of these at Amazon.com, but a couple of them are so obscure that Amazon doesn't have them.

What are your favorite obscure tunes?

Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead
Playground Love by Air
You know what they do to guys like us in prison by My Chemical Romance
Golddigger by Kayne West
We never change by Coldplay
This is the First Day of my life by Bright Eyes
Freedom hangs like heaven by Iron and Wine
Is it Wicked not to Care by Belle and Sebastian
Somewhere over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo
Glamourous Indie Rock and Roll by the Killers
Modern Things by Bjork
Are you Human by Goldfrapp

I could go on and on and on here
:)

Ooh, fun!

I love the song "number" by Tagen and Sara. I don't think anyone has heard of it besides me around here!
I love a song called "Silver Lining", i can't remember the name of the woman who sings it...Chantel something... I think...
From the group Train: "Swaying", "Blind", "Mississippi", "Eggplant", "Hopeless", and "Sweet Rain"
"Kingdom Come" by Coldplay (honestly, I don't not love anything by them)
"All is Full of Love" Bjork
Kieth Urban's "you look good in my shirt" :p

That is all I can think of for now!

Ok, a few of these are from the same artist.
Tori Amos: China, Hey Jupiter (The Dakota Version)
Sarah McLauchlin: Fear
Aerosmith: Fly Away From Here, Outta Your Head
Pantera: Walk

Yes, it's a wide variety of music. I'm the best channel surfer in the world! LOL!

That's all that I can come up with right now.

Hey Carolyn!! Fake Plastic Trees is one of my favorite songs ever!! And I know who Teagan and Sara are Missy! A radio station here in Phoenix (The Edge.....99.3) plays them all the time....as well as lots of other obscure independent alternative stuff.... T&S are on one of their live cds......really great music that is not really "popular".
