My hairdresser told me there is a new crossover machine for cardio at the gyms that is really fun and popular - its a total mix between, elliptical/stepper/cross country thing? Any ideas what its called??

I don't go to the gym, I am strictly an at home gym exerciser now - but this makes me curious what it is they came out with?

Is it an EFX machine? If that is it, it's a GREAT calorie burner and a GREAT machine to do intervals on. I use it 3x a week.

If it's an arc trainer like Boybs said, it's TOUGH and not too many people use those machines at the gym. My legs give out in 5 minutes and they're the strongest part of my body.

Definetely sounds like the Arc Trainer. I hate those things! I can't do them for more than five minutes and they bore the heck out of me!

Yep, it an Arc Trainer!!!

If you like machine workouts, its awesome! The range of motion that you do is similiar to an elliptical, but your leg is less in a motion of "stepping" and more like a long levered run.

I love them.. its a nice alternative to running as that you use more of your glute and hamstrings for the motion and there is of course no impact. Alot of people that train for marathons at my gym love using it as that its a great way to simulate running but easier on their joints for their cross training days.

If you ever get a chance to try it, I'd highly recommend it.

Take care, Lynn M.

I too want to offer up another vote in favor of the arc trainer. I was never crazy about the movement of the elliptical, but LOVED the arc trainer the first time I used one. DH and I both agreed that when we can afford one we'd love to have one at home.

I hope you give it a try!
