Anybody want to take a stab at this?

A bumpy horribly itchy RASH everywhere on my body EXCEPT for my torso and head. My feet and ankles are the worst part. It started last Wednesday, when I found myself scratching my ankles in Wal-Mart, lol. It got worse since then. It doesn't seem to have gotten any worse since, say, Saturday. But it hasn't gotten any better since Saturday either.

It's NOT poison ivy (I've had that plenty of times to know that).

I changed to a different laundry detergent about 2 months ago, but since the rash I've returned to my normal Tide brand. I changed my bath soap from the regular white Ivory bars to the Aloe Vera Ivory bars, but I've also gone back to my normal ones a few days ago. Nothing else cosmetic-wise has been changed.

Food, since some of us thought this is a food allergy, has not changed at all either. I keep a food journal every day (following WW program) and the few days before the breakout would take me back to Super Bowl Sunday. The only thing that I can see that I've eaten that's out of the ordinary, are baked, gluten-free wheat-free potato crisps and Swiss cheese. Everything else is my normal yogurts, veggies, fruits, lean meats, salads, etc. OH, I stopped drinking soy milk for about a month, and recently went back to that within the past week, using it ONLY in my breakfast smoothie (1 cup).

ANY IDEAS? I can't stand the itching anymore at night time, not to mention how it looks!

I would recommend talking to a Doc. But, I had one thought. My DH and kids have problems in the winter with skin rashes on their feet and hands. They have a mild form of eczema that flares in the drier weather. We eliminate fragrance and dye laundry detergent and using fragrance and dye free moisturizers. Also, when you dry off those areas make sure you pat it and don't rub. Rubbing aggravates the rash.

I hope this helps.

Maybe you were just itching to get engaged.

On the serious side, is the soy milk the same brand and type you were using before? Are you taking any new medications? Have you had the chicken pox?

WOW! You must feel yucky, hope it gets better soon. Don't you run outside a lot? One of my DS has eczema and it flares in the dry, cold winter months. I have to keep lotions, soaps, detergents as natural as possible & fragrance free, dye free, etc. for that reason.
Dermatologist has DS use Eucerin original lotion & Dove soap for sensitive skin, along with topical med.

Noticed you've changed many things back & forth, could be anything. See a dermatologist.

Hope it clears soon.

Same brand of soy milk as in the past. I haven't run outside in the cold weather for 2 weeks.

Thanks!

Gayle

p.s. Funny, Jeany...really funny!

OK, just in case anyone's interested....I went ot the Doc just now and he has ruled out a food allergy, hives (generically speaking), and poison. He thinks it's a contact dermititis, which means I came into contact with something that irritated my skin, but we can't figure out what or where. So, he prescribed 2 meds for me to take over the next 6 days and it will cure it (IF it's a contact dermititis). If this doesn't work, I move onto a dermatologist!

Thanks for the input! I usually need a nudge to go to the Doc!

Did you ask the doctor about scabies? I would doubt that is what it is by how fast it seemed to have spread but it is a very itchy type rash especially at night.
Just an idea.

I had something similar a few summers ago. It lasted a long time. I went to the doctors and took the prednisone, etc. It went away while on it and I had to go on another round of prednisone when it came back. It ended up being the laundry detergent I had swithed to but it didn't go away right after I switched back to my old stuff. I think anything I had washed had to be re washed before it went away. That means all sheets, clothes, towels etc. It took many months but it did clear up. Good luck!

Thanks, everybody for the input. The meds Doc gave me seem to be working. He did mention scabbies, which sounded HORRIBLE to me, but he was able to check and saw NO signes of the little rodents; also, my rash showed no typical signs of scabbies (thank goodness).

Anyway, the rash is starting to subside and the itching, although still present and at times annoying, also seems to slowing down.

THANKS!

Gayle
