So what do you guys think of Alli?

>I read an article the other
>day that said it's most effective for people who want to lose
>10-15 lbs, and only works well with a low-fat diet in
>conjunction with exercise.

>Ummmmmmmm... why not just stick to the low-fat diet and the
>exercise?

Sounds just like a lot of infomercial exercise gadgets (have you seen the 'rotating bar stool' ab exerciser? That's not what they call it, but....). If you use the X system (which includes diet and extra exercise), you can get these results (at least most of which you could get without the X, just doing the diet and other exercise!)

Alli is supposed to work as a behavior-modification program: training people to eat less fat. Kind of like the BM (!) techniques in "A Clockwork Orange"?

I'm imagining going to a McDonald's (which, unless I'm travelling and need to stop and use their facilities, is a stretch of the imagination for me!), surrounded by people on Alli who decided to splurge one day....as the pill + fat combo takes effect....EEK!

My first husband used to get horrible anal leakage when he ate those chips made with Olestra (sp).

I agree -- I sure don't want to put something into my body and be told that I might want to wear dark clothes or a change of clothes when I go out.

Can you imagine being on a long flight with a person with anal leakage as described in the ALLI ad?

My friends and family and I have had the greatest time this week joking about this product.

I work in substance abuse treatment and intervention, and this pill reminds me of antabuse...

It's like, people know that they love high fat foods, but that they are bad for them, so they take this pill, make the mistake a few times of eating whatever they want, crap themselves in public, and then maybe they have "learned their lesson" about eating badly.

All I had to hear was "anal leakage"-enough said! So, you will take Alli, leak from your butt (or all-out crap your pants), and all the while, you have to exercise and avoid fat? Well, you know the exercise part won't last due to the "leakage", so...
Just another "magic pill" until we hear of some horrific side effect (even more horrific than anal leakage). No thanks-I'll stick with Cathe and clean eating (much cheaper and safer).
