So, what about Jari Love's workouts?

I just saw a clip after I read Jonezie's thread. How do Jari's workouts compare to Cathe? The set seems a bit dark in the clip I watched. Are they all done on the same dark space?

Just curious!

Thanks!
Pam

Yes they are dark. Honestly, . . I can't find any other instructor out there that compares to Cathe. I have a few of Jari's DVD's you can get them at Ross or Marshals for $5.00 they are just okay for me. She seems a little on the cold side. Not as warm and fuzzy as Cathe. No doubt you'll get a workout from them but I'd much rather pop in a Cathe DVD.

I love almost all of Jari's workouts - they suit me perfectly. I did Cathe for many years but now I'm liking lighter weights, more reps. Every time I do Jari I feel great and get a great workout. You might try one to see if it's your cup of tea. My favorites are Ripped to the Core, Ripped and Chiseled, Ripped Slim and Lean. I am less fond of the newer Ripped 1000 series because those alternate cardio intervals with weights and I am more of a fan of compound weights-only moves. I also have quibbles with the 1000 series because Jari and the crew seem to get thinner with each workout and I'm halfway between jealous and concerned when I see them. Also the newer series seem more dark and industrial.

Janie, that's what I thought, too. Like she might not be very warm or enthusiastic. I think Cathe's "I'm gonna make you wish you were dead but also give you a great BIG hug" workouts have spoiled me!

I'm one who really likes Jari's workouts. They are mostly endurance workouts, more so than Cathe's in general. As much as I love heavier lifting, for me, where weight training is concerned, Jari's workouts are better at helping me control my appetite. Generally, I do mostly Cathe and Jari for strength training. There are very few other instructors that I like as much.

There's only one Cathe Friedrich in the world, but Jari's personality is pleasant enough. Much more pleasant than, say, Jillian Michaels, who has the personality of a drill sergeant.

Nancy...she helps control your appetite? I need that! Can you be more specific? And PS...ITA about Jillian Michaels.

Re: appetite control: I'm a lot less hungry when my weight training consists of endurance workouts as opposed to heavy lifting workouts. At first I thought it was just me, but then I have heard others say similar things.

I loved Cathe's Slow & Heavy workouts, and used to do them all the time. It took me years to finally see the connection between doing the workouts and my tendency to gain 5-7 pounds. It took another few years before I finally realized that the weight gain was NOT muscle. I've tried many of Jari's workouts, and never had that problem. It's not really that mysterious, because endurance workouts are more like cardio, which assists in weight loss.

If you do a search on this topic, you will find many posts from me and others on this topic. In fact, I think there were some just last year.

ETA: just be sure that when Jari is talking, don't listen to the words. ;)

I agree with Nancy. Jari's workouts are endurance. I always lose weight when I use her workouts. She's not Cathe, but her workouts are a good way to switch things up.
My favorites are Ripped & Chiseled(LOVE the bicep track), Slim & Lean, Ripped to the Core, Ripped 1000, and even though the set is dark....LOVE LOVE LOVE Extremely Ripped 1000!

When I am doing an endurance rotation I always include Jari's workouts. They are good endurance workouts. I also like Get ExtremelyRipped, Ripped To The Core, Get Ripped Slim and Lean and Ripped and Chiseled. Ripped 1000 is also good.

I like Jari's workouts too. They are different than Cathe but I thoroughly enjoy them, and sweat buckets too. My fav is "Get Extremely Ripped."

Fit44...between you and Nancy...I am a believer. All you had to say is you "always lose weight" and I was on board! I ordered 5 from Amazon...Slim and Lean, Ripped to the Core, Ripped 1000, Get Ripped, and Extremely Ripped.

I couldn't love Cathe more...but am looking forward to adding the variety.

Did you order Extremely Ripped or Extremely Ripped 1000?

Extremely Ripped is good IMO, but I'm in the minority on this one. I like it because I sweat a lot and really like the lower body work. This workout is a full body weight lifting program. Jari uses combination (upper and lower combined).
Jari is not herself in this one. I'll admit, I think she's kind of annoying, but I tune her out.

Extremely Ripped 1000 is the clipped you posted in the other thread.

This workout alternates cardio and weights. This is my favorite out of her new Extremely Ripped series. Even though she uses weights in this one, I use very light weights (5lbs) and consider this a cardio workout after a heavier weight day. Jari much better in this one.

I like the Original Ripped too, but it is the easiest out of all her workouts. If you need more of a challenge, you can go heavier or repeat each exercise for more sets.;)

Fit44...yes, Extremely Ripped 1000...the one I posted the clip from in the other thread. This is the one you really like, yes?

PS...it was hard ordering b/c everyone of her titles has the word "ripped" in it. LOL!

Yes, this is one of my favorites! It's a great workout to follow a heavier weight day.
I hope you like Jari. :) She's not as warm as Cathe, but I think she is sweet in her own way.

Ignore here carb comments! I think they're funny, but some people are irritated by them. Every time I hear her talk about carbs, I think of the movie "Mean Girls"....."It just burns up all your carbs!". If you ever watch that movie you'll know what I'm talking about.:D:p

Jari says "Good on you" a lot. I couldn't figure out what the heck she was saying for the longest time! LOL It means.....Job well done, or something like that.:)

Really?!? Thanks for the heads up. What does she say about carbs? That they're from the devil and you're going straight to you-know-where if you eat them?

No, she talks about how the exercises are burning up all your carbs! LOL
She tested all of them and they burn up all your carbs!:cool::p:D

Oh, ok...that doesn't bother me! But can it burn up all the carbs I've ever eaten?!? That WOULD be something!

You Jari enablers have convinced me as well!! Jonezie- just like you I kept hearing the 'losing weight' comments and I just caved!! I'm going to check our Marshalls and see if they have them...otherwise, look out Amazon, here I come!!

Happy Sunday!
