So sick of this gym saga!

I am on a 3 day trial for an all women's gym. Last week a woman told me it was $59 a month with a 2 year contract. I used to pay $90 for 90 days at this same gym, but they won't honor that anymore. So, I told her I didn't want to do 2 years. So much can change in 2 years. So she offered me a student discount of $39 a month, for 12 months. I said ok and I would come in.

Fast forward to today. I got a call from the gym again. She told me that the $39 a month for 12 months was only if I paid in full, which I can't do. She said I had to do 24 months and it was $49. So, I told her to forget it, cause I am not signing for 2 years.

So, I was told $59, then $39, then $49. They are supposed to call me again. That woman I talked to today said the other girl I first talked to is new so that is why I was told the wrong thing!

GRRRR!!!!

Well, I pay about $115 a month including locker rental, so no sympathy here! ;-)

Seriously, why don't you call & ask to speak w/the manager? They're obviously giving different pricing to different clientele. In fact, I've had more than one gym manager tell me they prefer members who DON'T work out b/c it means less wear & tear on the equipment, therefore less maintenance, therefore less overhead.

Talk to the manager, be a squeaky wheel, & hopefully you'll end up w/a bargain. :)

Jessica,

Gym shopping can be as bad as car shopping! If you feel like you're getting the runaround, just walk and look elsewhere.

Good luck. I hope you get a good deal.

the only problem with going elsewhere, is that my girlfriend meets me at the gym at 5am. I'm only joining for that accountability. I prefer cathe, but I know that having to meet her at 5am makes me get up and go!

I just forked over 1,000 dollars for a membership at the Kona Kai Resort here in San Diego today! That is for one year of classes and a "semi" gym. Sigh. But worth it, we are here two weeks each month and live on a boat which limits things!:) But watch those gym memberships, they can totally rip you off! Golds did it to me a few years back, so did 24-hour fitness.
