So my curiousity has been piqued - What is it that you do?

I quit my job as a network operations manager for a high tech company 4 months ago. Hated my boss and had had enough. I just got a job starting next week in a real estate office doing their computer operations, some marketing, web maintenance, and I'm not sure what else. Hope I'll like it. It sounds like fun to me.

RE: So my curiousity has been piqued - What is it that ...

I want a better job description. Stay at home mother just doesn't seem to cover it all. Neither does career mother who does so much housework I'd be a maid if I got paid for it. Homemaker? Yuck! My husband was preparing to send our tax stuff to his tax guy and wrote housewife. Also yuck. I scratched that and wrote domestic goddess but that sounds cocky and conceited. Domestic engineer? This is supposed to be the politically correct name for housewife. Stupid! (Wife was Unpaid Sex Slave. Ewww. I know a man compiled THAT list. A man with quite an imagination!) Look at the definition of housewife: "a wife who who manages a household while her husband earns the family income". That's appropriate, I admit, but doesn't cover the driving, cooking, food shopping, tutoring, loving, chastising, encouraging, listening, refereeing, sitting at the computer and not doing any of the aforementioned tasks or chocolate eating.
I think my answer is I don't know. I "do" a lot. I'm jobless but I work and that work can't be summed up in a word or two unless one of you can come up with something. And please be nice, okay? :)

Hi, Debbie! I like that! I really want something glamourous since I am seeing a TMD specialist for the tinnitus and I picked up two orthotic appliances today; one for daytime (lower) and one for sleeping (upper). There could be drooling involved but hopefully in 6-8 weeks I'll have a slack-jaw and quiet ears! And I'll sleep! I have been a little slap happy today! I'm am so glad to know you too! We're all Juicy Women, whatever we do! :)

Wow! I love reading what everyone has written.

I am a dental hygienist. My job has just changed dramatically because a young dentist has bought our practice. I'm having fun though!

I also teach a step class on Saturday mornings, and a step and sculpt class on Monday nights, at the YMCA. Fun fun fun!!

Sounds like I am having a little too much fun. It is also a lot of work. And, I have been teaching step almost a year now. It is much smoother now than it was in the first few months.

By trade,I am a hairstylist/nail tech. The money is not the greatest here. The salons out way the population.Besides for that the lady I was working for pretty much has the business ran to the ground.
2 Years ago I applied with a airline and got the job,but only worked part-time so I kept my job as a hairsylist(part-time) I thought I could put up with my boss part-time but couldn't even manage that.
My New Years Res was to find a new job and I did.I still work at the airport but it is at a refueling stop for private jets.I am new here so I don't know all the tricks of the trade.
I am not 100% sure that I like it yet.Its shift work, which I am not use to.I also work by myself alot, not use to that either. And I think they may be a little sticker around here then my other jobs. And this sterness is probably normal but I've never had a job like it.I wonder sometimes how I am doing.I think I am doing o.k but the boss doesn't tell me that.He treats his employees good but different from what I am use to.
I don't think it is a job I will retire in.But you never know.
Lori:)

>I am corporate attorney for a large pharma company.(Okay Okay
>enough with the booing)

No one should boo! I work for a nonprofit that manages a drug donation program of a large pharma company - they manufacture the drug specifically for donation to combat 2 tropical diseases in Africa and Latin America. Pharma is our friend ;-) I also coordinate a partnership between 6-7 "big pharma" companies for their drug donation programs and never cease to be amazed at their generosity and willingness to collaborate with their competitors.

Gotta take the good with the bad right?:)

I'm actually planning to relocate to South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale area) to finally live in the same place as my DB who lives in Houston (I'm in Atlanta). If anyone knows of job openings there for writers/editors or communications people in general...do holler at me!
