LAST EDITED ON Aug-17-02 AT 02:59PM (Est)[p]Hi everyone! Received my very first Cathe this week - CTX DVD and did the following:

Wednesday: Step Intervals
Thurdsay: Power Circuit
Friday: 10-10-10
Saturday: Kickbox

I'm not used to Cathe's step workout so I'm still struggling with the steps but I know I'll get it soon. I'll just keep replaying. What great workouts!!!!

I'm so motivated by Cathe that I'm already thinking of the next workout to purchase. Any suggestions? I need something that would burn my FAT. I have a lot to get rid of. Something with both fat burning and strength training or whatever your suggestions will be.

Does strength training burn more fat than cardio? I don't really want to build a lot of muscles (I only use 3 and 5 lb. weights) I want to look toned.

Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Have a great weekend!!!

Stay with CTX for awhile so you can see what results you get, but as for your next purchase, I suggest the Rhythmic Step+ DVD with MIC and Imax. This will for sure burn fat. You can split MIC and do half (hi/lo) one day and the other half (step) the next and work your way up. As far as Imax goes, I personally believe that just watching this tape burns fat. Seriously, this tape takes fat burning to the max!!! And Rythmic Step is tricky choreography wise, so that one might have to wait a bit (if you're anything like me). For weight training, I would suggest the PS DVD which is a great base for building strength. Or the Power Hour+ DVD. This DVD is more endurance based however, but it includes MIS and Body Max which has a 24 min. step routine of its own! Eventually, you knew I'd say this, you will buy them all, so just take it one DVD at a time. I am proud of you and have fun!

Since you only are using light weights now, I'd suggest getting Circuit Max...it rocks!! It contains 6, 7 minute circuits which consist of 5 minutes of cardio followed by 2 tough minutes of compound movements, ie. simultaneous squats and bicep curls. There are 2 hi/lo, 2 kickbox and 2 step circuits. I've been doing this tape for a long time and it still kicks me in the rear!

I can totally relate! I've never been able to keep my interest level up for more than a couple of months when it came to my workouts, but here I am, four months into a regular routine. I have to credit Cathe! I've always enjoyed Step, but usually get bored doing the same simple routines - Cathe's so different. The workouts continue to be fun. This is the first time in my life I've looked forward to working out!!

I don't have CTX personally (but I drool over it often). I started with Step Heat, worked up to Step Jam and MIS, and now I've just received Rhythmic Step (LOVE it), PowerMax (a little over my head, but fun), BodyMax (again, over my head, but I modify), Cardio Kicks (very good), and IMax (scared to try).

From what I've been told, you do need to build muscle to burn fat - since that's where the fat is burned. You say you don't want too much muscle, but I really think you can probably go heavier when you're ready. I use 8 and 10 lbs dumbells and a 20 lb barbell and I'm not getting bulky - my genetics won't allow that. If you look at Cathe, she's really ripped but not at all bulky, even though she uses heavy weights. So don't worry about that too much. I too have weight to lose - about 30 pounds - and I'm definitely getting smaller but have only lost 7 so far. My bulk was all fat!

Anyway, I can't make better suggestions than what was posted already, just wanted to share my point of view. Good luck!

Building muscle takes a lot more work than most women seem to think. Women are scared they'd get too muscular or that their thighs would bulk or that their shoulders or calves would get big...but I've been working out the last 3 years and a hint of muscle makes me proud. Mostly because it takes such hard work just to get THAT. Just to get the tiny tricep bump usually means lots of consistent work for me. Plus when you know you built it up from scratch you're extremely happy about it. The muscle look won't happen overnight for a lot of women. Anyway once you start working out the mindset usually shifts. You'll love being able to go longer and lift heavier. Cathe's workouts really do good things for you. Welcome and have fun!

R-lam, I second your feelings on muscle-building!
It takes a LOT of work for me to build a little bit of muscle too.
