So frustrating....

I have been working out like a maniac. And I can see changes. I've been eating really clean. And I've lost a whopping POUND in a month. I'm sorry to whine and I'm trying to be positive, but it's frustrating. At this rate it'll take me 10 months to lose the 10 lbs I'm trying to shed.

I know what you mean. Seems soooo slow at times when you are trying to reach your goal. I just recently noticed positive changes in my hamstrings, but it has taken a long time to get there. Drinking more water seem to help alot too.
I get discouraged too at times, but just keep going. Your making progress even though you don't think you are...takes time to show up on the outside so don't give up!
I bet your probably retaining water. I know I am today, I have 10 days of PMS...isn't that lovely?

Shelley,

Please hang in there. You will see results, it just may take longer. Charlotte has a good point about the fluid retention, women are just cursed with all kinds of things that throw our systems off whack and mess up our well-intended efforts. You will get over this "hump", we all have been there and will be there again, I'm sure, so just hang in there!!!

Those last ten pounds are indeed the toughest x(

Remember that you are in this to be a fit person and not only to lose pounds. Forget the scale for a minute...how are you feeling? How are these workouts making you feel? Do you feel strong and revived?

Sometimes when we are pushing the hardest, we don't realize that we are making progress b/c we are focusing on a particular thing. I was pushing and pushing a few years back and ended up injuring myself. It was only then, that I had a chance to step back and see that I really was progressing and doing well. I just didn't see it b/c I was fixated on one type of progress and not seeing the rest.

Good Luck!
Christine

Forget that evil scale! Focus on the results. Weight flucuates naturally and the scale lies and makes you feel awful. As you lay down muscle you get smaller while your weight may stay constant but you have less fat and more muscle so, again, the scale just toys with your head.

I know how you feel, Shelley - it seems the older I get, the longer and harder it is for me to lose weight. But a pound down is a pound down - you're not gaining weight! And I'm sure your body is thanking you for taking care of it so well. Things that the scale can't see: your cholesterol level decreasing, your triglycerides decreasing, your metabolism increasing, your blood pressure leveling to normal, your heart is getting stronger, your endurance is improving, etc....the list goes on. I bet you feel like a million bucks. The weight will come off eventually Just don't let the scale determine everything - scales are EVIL!!!

Girl! I hear ya! it has taken me since dec-jan to lose 15 and i think that is very slow b/c i hear all the time how people lose 1 lb/week! well, that's just NOT fair!:*

just keep going! you will get there! Obsessing about it won't speed it up, so just keep doing your workouts and eating right and guzzling water. I know, that sounds like a bunch of crap you don't want to hear, but losing weight has been a lesson in patience for me!

Thanks to everyone for their support. I know it will eventually come if I keep working at it and I know that the health benefits are there. I can SEE changes. I'm actually getting a six pack. And my endurance on my runs is much better than even a month ago. I think today was not a good day for me to get on the scale - I was in a yucky mood already.

And Donna? Blargh is a very descriptive cross between "argh" and "blech":)

Have you taken measurements? I find as I get closer to goal, the measurements seem to be a better gauge of my progress. Especially as we build more muscle, the scale can be deceiving.

Colleen

A six pack, YAY!

Look, Shelley. I gotta tell you something. I tried for eight years to lose weight and did not lose a dern pound no matter what I tried. A pound is a pound and is a good thing :)

You just keep going the way you're going cause the scale is moving the right way :7

Shelley,

It took me more than a YEAR to lose 20 lbs. Pretty sad I know, but I went from a size 8/10 to a 4.

And, the magic time for me was about 12 weeks. Honestly. I woke up one morning and it was like my fat had melted overnight. (I think what actually happened was that I was so discouraged from working out like a dog and not seeing any changes that I stopped scrutinizing myself so hard - like a watched kettle never boils - and then, voila! Magic.)

Hang in there!

I'm hangin'!!:)

I guess I'll just accept that it's going to be slow. The last 10 always are (possibly because we don't always need to lose them).

Shelley,

First of all, I feel your pain!!!! I made the mistake of weighing myself AND taking measurements today. I swore my pants fit looser this week. Well.....not a single change in weight or measurments, I have stayed exactly the same. Perhaps someone snuck into my closet and replaced my pants with a larger size?!?!?!?! So what did I do? I had a giant frosted sugar cookie today!!! Just gave me a tummy ache and now I need to force myself to go workout-Muscle Max today.

Secondly, I saw your pic and you look great!!!! Where are those 10 pounds you want to lose???

Anyway, I'll check in again in 10 months, and maybe by then we will both have shed those annoying 10 pounds!!!:+ :+ :+ :+ :+ :+ :+
