So disappointed!

I could've screamed when I got home from work today! I was looking forward to (drooling over) trying my new tapes tonight but the UPS guy just left a "tried to deliver" type of slip on my door instead of my videos! Ahhh! I've called UPS and I'm going to pick them up on my way to work tomorrow, but it still won't be until tomorrow night before I can check them out.

So, just a couple of questions for all you housewives, second/third shifters and people who played hooky today just to receive your tapes.

Are there any 'heel-toe-diagonal-over-jack' things in Rhythmic Step? How about ricochets, double or otherwise? Is it as fun and challenging as we've all been anticipating it would be? Is that a silly question?! =)

Is Power Hour basically like Body Pump? How would you compare the two, aside from the fact that Cathe's instruction would be a lot better? Looking forward to hearing about it!

Since I was so psyched for the new videos by the time I got home from work, I decided to do Cathe's most recent all step tape, Step Works. I haven't done it for a while and I forgot how much it kicks my glutes! Sure enjoyed it but I just can't wait to get home from work tomorrow and do the new ones! Woo hoo!

I absolutely LOVE Rhythmic Step!!! I've done it twice so far. It is just a really fun workout. The intensity feels very steady - no interval blasts and no times where your heart rate just plummets. The choreography is challenging, but not impossible. Cathe moves quickly - very little breakdown of the moves. No "heel-toe-diagonal", no ricochets, but lots and lots of fun moves. I really had to concentrate the first time doing the tape, though!!
I did Power Hour once so far and liked it a lot. I've only done Body Pump once and it was a while ago, so I can't really compare the two. I thought the biceps and abs sections were especially challenging in Power Hour. Finding the right weights to use might be a little challenging - I may have gone just a little too light last time.
Have fun with those new tapes! How disappointing that you didn't get them yesterday!

Hey, how's this for a bummer? I was supposed to get my tapes yesterday, already had plans for putting them into a rotation, and didn't get them. I checked the tracking, and it turns out that UPS tracked them incorrectly to eastern Mass--indeed all the way to Nantucket--and I live in the northwestern corner of Mass. Now I won't get them until Thursday! Quel Horreur!

Thanks for the descriptions Erica! I'm looking forward to it all the more now. I've always hoped Cathe would do all of the routines in the entire tape all the way through, I just can't wait to try that! I'll bet it will take lots of concentration to get the choreography the first few times, but she's just so good at teaching, I'm sure I'll get it in no time! Power Hour sounds like it'll be making me sore for a while to come, glad to hear there's lots of good work for the biceps, looking forward to that!

Oooh, that is a bummer! Well, you won't be far behind me, because UPS did me wrong once again. This is twice in a row I've asked them to hold something for me (before the daily deadline) and they just threw it back on the truck instead! I asked them if they could just leave it without a signature but they're insisting on having a signature. Well, they said it will be at the UPS station for me to pick up tomorrow morning, we'll see. At this rate, you might just get yours before I do! Let me know what you think. Happy stepping & pumping!

So, what's your rotation, once you finally get your tapes?

Checked my tracking again. Now I am supposed to get them today. I'm on the second week of the rotation that Kathy S started, and I was going to add on a Slow and Heavy for three days, which all begin with a choice from the XPress tapes. I may still do that tomorrow and, since I am a day ahead of everyone else (I begin on Sunday instead of Monday), I'll go back and do MIC on Friday, which is the last day of the rotation. I will have to rethink next week's rotation. I KNOW for sure, since I love Cathe's step tapes, that I will have to put in Rhythmic Step somewhere next week--maybe on Monday because I don't have the Cardio Kicks tape. (Do you have it? Like it?) I keep thinking I should buy it, since everyone says how great it is, but I don't care for the CTX Kickbox tape and never do its cardio, just adding the biceps and abs to another CTX to make for a longer strengthtraining segment.

Good luck getting your tapes! Our UPS guy never asks for a signature--but someone is usually around, either my husband or one of my sons. A long time ago, our dog got ahold of a Candace Copeland step tape from CollageVideo and chewed the cover up, but he doesn't do THAT anymore!

RE: Lynda!!

I don't mean to jump in here, but I was reading this thread when I saw you ask about Cardio Kicks. Well, what can I say? While I LOVE the Kickboxing tape from CTX, I'm not a huge fan of Cardio Kicks. I do it. But I never seem to enjoy it like I do her other tapes, or even the kickbox one from CTX. Now, I do like the last 1/2 hr of the tape where she runs through drills. High kicks, roundhouses, ice breakers and lots of punching. But other than that it just not one of my favorites. Well, there's my HO. Just though I'd put it in there. Hope you and Brinley both got your tapes:)!!

RE: Lynda!!

Thanks for the advice, Aimee. I need to restrain myself. I think I'll wait awhile before buying more tapes--I'm barely into my 5 new Cathe's--and it probably won't be Cardio Kicks. I just bought some new shoes and more plates for my barbell and some 25 pound dumbbells, and I'd like some new workout clothes and some weight gloves, and let's see. . . I'll have to stop when I can't carry the weights up to the checkout counter. Then I'll know I've gone too heavy.

Ooops, sorry Lynda!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-04-01 AT 05:39PM (Est)[p]Hey Lynda,
Sorry I forgot to respond about the Cardio Kicks video. I don't actually have it so I have no idea what to tell you about that. I've used the section of CTX Kickbox a couple of times but kickboxing just isn't my thing. I like the section on Power Circuit though because it involves a step :).

Glad you got your tapes okay. I got mine on Wednesday but that's only because I happened to be taking the day off! When I called to complain about them throwing it back on the truck for two days in a row they said they had a new guy working and there had been a lot of complaints about packages not being held like they were supposed to be. I think if I had been at work on Wednesday like I was supposed to be, they would've sent it back because it would've been the third delivery attempt and then who knows when I would've gotten them! I even asked them to just leave it without a signature but they said they couldn't do that. It wouldn't be quite so frustrating (aside from the fact that the videos almost got sent back) except that it's not the first time UPS has done this to me. Oh well, I have them now and I'm having a blast, hope you are too!

RE: Ooops, sorry Lynda!

Glad you received your tapes, too! I also like the kickbox routines on both the CTX Power Circuit and on Circuit Max,but for some reason, I just can't get enough out of the routine on CTX. I LOVE Rhythmic Step, and I've done two of the Slow and Heavy--very different feeling. I did BodyMax today, and the weight work just seemed so fast after the S and H.
